I think this season in it's tone and story progression is similar to that of Attack on Titan season 3 part 1. The slow pace, new character introductions, going deep into psychology of existing characters. Season 5 will be more fast paced just like AOT season 3 part 2 was.

I think, they are trying to hint at certain things from the comics. The finale will be mutual destruction between Billy and Homelander. If not, after killing Homelander, Billy might go on a warpath and try killing other supes, only for Hughie and the team to stop him
