You could still do that in the 2004 and 2005 games too. When I was in season mode if I was losing or the match was dragging out to be a draw that was my go-to tactic. I remember doing it twice, missing the penalty, twice!

I still have my copy of this game. Amazing, a lot of customization options available. My favourite mode was the School career mode, starting off at School/amateur level, progressing to competing against semi-pro teams then into the pro leagues was just fantastic. Though weirdly the ratings of the Semi-Pro teams and some of the Amateur/School teams were higher than quite alot of the pro clubs. I do also like how there was an emphasis on playing every single game. Yeah you could skip games but your team performance gets worse with each consecutive game you skip meaning less likely to win. Oh and the ability to dive to try to win free kicks and penalties too was a nice added feature though can backfire and you get booked for it. All this tied in the commentary by Peter Drury and the available cheat codes is why to me TIF2003 is not just a very good game but an underrated one at that. Shame it had to compete with FIFA and Pro Evo soccer at that time.

I remember it being graphically impressive for the time it came out. But ultimately the complete lack of ANY licenses (as far as I can remember anyway?) told you from the off that the This Is Football franchise was never really here to stay.
