Gosh I wish I could give every single one of you guys a hug! Thank you so much for your sweet comments and encouragement. I'm happy to report that things are looking better in the last few days and we're only struggling with the first feed of the day now! For everyone who expressed being in a similarly difficult stage: I hope it gets better for you soon! You're doing a great job and we're all in this together 💛

Honestly, I’m so grateful for this. We have been in such a chaotic stage of life and it’s been tough feeling like everyone else has it all together. I never want to see others struggling, but it helps to not be alone. So thank you.

Don't apologize for not being positive. You being real and showing the hard parts and sharing how you're really feeling helps SO MUCH. I was getting teary just knowing that I'm not alone with the chaos of 2 kids and being a business owner. It's HARD. And I appreciate you sharing your realness!

I just got through a nursing strike a month ago. It was TORTURE!! I'm so sorry y'all are going through that. Here's what worked for me: I literally went topless for days. I held baby topless at every opportunity. Baths together, cuddles together, anything with baby as undressed as possible. No pressure to nurse unless they are asleep. Just keep it constantly accessible. Eventually, my baby started rooting around again and showed interest in latching. I had to really stop offering it, because every time I did it resulted in screaming. I made sure she always ate, either with dream feeds or bottles and pumped milk. Kept things very relaxed and pressure free (I mean I faked this because inside I was dying). I think what I did is called a "nurse-in". I hope it ends for you soon!!!

I honestly appreciate the real/raw stuff because that's what I'm going through. Seeing moms looking like they have everything together tends to make me want to stop watching because it's hard to not compare my experience with a seemingly perfect one. So don't feel bad about being real, mama! It helps us all feel less alone!

Sounds like Juniper is going through a growth spurt as well as a regression... mental growth spurts are a killer... the don't know what is happening with them and neither do we, everything around them is very overwhelming and they become over stimulated easily... Skin to Skin is key to overcome this, bathing with baby, doing baby wearing and just slowing down and giving her all the attention... let her sleep on your chest, be kind to yourself mom, you got this... currently sitting with my 3rd baby, 5weeks old... your birth vlogs got me through my birth this time around, you are such a gem... love from South Africa 🇿🇦

Hang in there Mama. One suggestion I have is, have you considered that maybe she has an ear infection? Just bc sucking could be hurting her ears. Also, MAY be why she is up a lot and not wanting to lay down? Just a suggestion. I know when my little one didn’t want to eat she did have an ear infection. (She got them a lot when she was younger) I’m not a Dr so please just take this as you want, just trying to help one mama from another! You’re doing a great job! 😘

Rowan is so sweet in this vlog!! I also appreciate you posting real life, even if I’m not happy that you’re going through a rough patch, I appreciate you sharing it. I’m a first time mom to a 6 and a half month old, and am taking this year off of teaching to stay with her. Sometimes I feel like I shouldn’t be having a hard time since I get to stay home with her and don’t have to worry about a career at the same time. Even though you are a work from home mom, it’s nice to know that other people have struggles and it’s not just me. Parenting really is that hard. Sending love and hugs to you though!!

I'm sorry you're having a hard time! If I could go back I would tell myself that for every hard day (or week) there's 2 good ones, its just that the hard ones feel so overwhelming. Honestly I would feel so bad about myself if I thought everyone else was doing so great. It leaves me feeling like "well why is it so hard for us? What am I doing wrong?" Also Kudos on being so good with Rowan in the kitchen after a long day, you nailed it.

Oh hun I know how you feel so so so bad. I felt like I was going to go nuts! My little one would go through a nursing strike every single time I would get my period. He also had low weight and was dipping below the last centile line. It was extremely stressful! My baby boy is approaching 6 months and has just finally starting to get better. I would spend so many feeding sessions crying out of frustration. Feeding in the shower helped SO MUCH! Whenever he hadn’t fed in a long time in the shower we would go. Now I have a lot more patience because I know that while he screams at my boob this hard time will pass. ❤ You got this! You are amazing! And enough!

Nursing strikes are hard mama!! We tried Camilla teething drops or gripe water right before nursing with our little girl who is now almost 9 months - even when the strike wasn’t due to teething. I'm so sorry you're going through a rough time. I've never heard of a nursing strike like that and I can't imagine juggling the stress of sleeplessness and her being fussy but also that she's not eating enough! I really hope she's gotten better since this video was filmed! I HATE when people tell me this, but everything really is a phase. I rarely ever internalize that in the moment, but then the rough time is over and I look back and realize that we got through it okay and that we'll get through the next thing too. I love seeing the realness when it's great but also when it's not. Because both are just as 'real'. I feel like sometimes online mothers can get flack for sharing when everything is going well (like you have), but that's just as true as these times. So thankful for you and how you are honest either way. Love to you and your family!

Hi Megan! So sorry you and Juniper are going through the nursing strike. I can imagine that must be so stressful! A couple tips I have are to keep offering the breast, even if it's just for comfort or if she's not "due" for another feed, nursing in a dark, quiet room (if you haven't tried that already), wearing necklaces or have something clipped to your shirt that she can play with as a distraction, nurse skin-to-skin, and hand express before nursing. Also, definitely reach out to a lactation consultant or your local La Leche League- they are great resources! Good luck!

My husband is in Police Academy so my Monday-Fridays are literally just me and the babies so I often feel like I’m failing and SO tired. I just want to say you are SO rocking motherhood even on a bad day/week. I wouldn’t even be able to consider cooking while that tired! I truly hope things start getting better with the nursing. Have you tried pumping and feeding a bottle and having her nurse when she’s not as hungry/fussy? Hope you figure it out soon and get some rest!

For the nursing strike all I can say is hang on! I found out that my son was upset only when I attempted to feed him from both sides as a result of torticollis. Once I figured that out I switched to only feeding on the side that wasn't impacted. I also remember feeding while standing and while he's sleeping just like you. We had a 2 week long nursing strike! But I'm so glad I kept on with it and figured out why he was doing it. One other suggestion is if your baby takes a bottle take a couple days break. Sometimes they miss it and come back to it happily - that helped us with a couple of the shorter strikes. Good luck ❤️

My little girl went on a nursing strike too. I decided to switch primarily to pumping (make sure to invest in an elvie or willow its life changing) I was able to get her to nurse at night and it worked so well! I was able to get the bonding and skin contract at night and pumping made it easier to store milk and also allow daddy to feed the baby as well.

Could your baby have acid indigestion? Brest milk might cause pain and gas and well all of above? She really struggles to get her body up.. or teething? Maybe your due for a check up? My daughter is the same age almost to the day and she’s been doing nursing strikes on and off as well. It’s so exhausting. Nursing while asleep and walking is what we also resort to at the worst times. Side lying nursing is what I can get her to do usually. Hang in there ❤ In terms of tips we’ve had luck with… starting with a bottle then switch to nursing, nursing on a ball, nursing mid nap or when just waking up, rock to sleep with paci then switch to nursing, offering feedings only when clearly hungry, and nursing in a new spot like outdoors

I think it’s so important to not be fearful to show your reality. There’s nothing shameful about having a “normal day” that happens to be challenging. My aunt always says to be thankful for a normal day- even if it’s a hard one. Thanks for sharing! These days will pass, mama!
