The Ironman challenge is basically the retail version of Hardcore, it has a few more special restrictions but is overall in the same vein and somewhat popular.

I never really got a chance to play classic wow either and feel ya so instant subscribe for that for being relatable. I feel that the version of hardcore that Turtle WoW does is pretty cool, it makes it so you can't really trade with other non-hardcore players (separate auction, only trade with other hc characters, etc), get a message announcing your success in global chat every 10 levles and get a bit of gifts every 10 levels for still surviving and at the end at level 60 you get the hardcore status removed, get a cool title, mount and bragging rights. Also that way there's not going to be a problem with trolls who go into level 60 raids and try to get the party killed (not even going to mention the name of the guy who did it in classic wow hc, because those people crave attention) since everyone is no longer hardcore after that point.

I never played WoW in my life before trying out classic HC. It's extremely satisfying, and you mentioned not wanting to play because of the lack of "hype," but I assure you that all you need is yourself to have a rewarding experience. The video was great, but trying HC on retail is kind of a joke. I'd love to watch a progression series of HC classic, where you'll need to sell those rocks you mined just to have enough gold to train your skills. My only advice is to get the VoiceOver addon and enjoy. Warrior probably won't be quite so easy on classic, when you "almost died" after logging in... that guy was hitting you for 0.4% of your health per attack (when he could actually whack you without missing). Your natural health regen ticks are almost double that, I think you even have a Troll racial that even makes it regen during combat. You need to try out classic so you can feel the real rush of almost dying trying to kill a single boar when a second one aggros and sends you into the sprint of your life. It's a rush that you really can't experience in many other games.

You should do the Ironman or Nixxiom's LOTR challenge, I found those to make Retail a bit more challenging (^^)b

Tried this challenge on a Bloodelf monk and got a debuff making me take flat increase to spell damage at lvl 8 and got 1shot by a crit moonfire

I know nothing of retail gaming but assuming the dungeon mobs don't scale with you like I heard that the overworld does I'm surprised you died too. If the dungeon mobs do scale with you I'm not surprised at all. Too bad, good luck on your next one if you try it again. :)

I've been playing hardcore on retail for awhile now and still have not maxed one out. You can just die to some weird shit you'd never see coming. Bliizard just make hardcore servers for all the WOWS. Thank you very much

If you havent played classic then go and play classic era. You havent “missed the hype”. Classic era has a huge population still.

what, you start at lvl 10 if you pick alliance in retail?

nah mate, allied races. You probably haven't played retail in a while have you? Allied races are a new addition added in BFA (2018) which introduced 4 new races to each faction. The alliance got: Kul Tirans, Dark Iron Dwarves, Void Elves,Mechagnomes and lightforged draenei. The horde got: Vulpera, Highmountain Tauren, Zandalari, nightborne elves and Mag'har orcs. Most are re-skins besides Zandalari Trolls and Kul Tirans, they have unique animations etc. They all start at lvl.10, no matter what class you picked or which allied race you picked. They're different then the other races.

with everything scaling to your level i dont think youll be able to solo(edit: DUNGEONS) esp the higher you get if you arent a tank or have more heals :(
