It's rare to see a horseshoe crab (face hugger) swimming because they hardly ever do. When they do swim, they swim upside down.
The horseshoe crab has been around for 200 million years before the dinosaurs. They have 10 eyes, 10 claws, 7 pairs of legs, and blue blood.
They are basically harmless and their claws are not strong enough to hurt a person.
Their blood is highly valued in the medical industry and is worth $15,000 per quart. Fortunately, they are not endangered, or even listed as threatened.
They shed their exoskeleton regularly as they grow.
Details about the clear kayak can be found here www.seethroughcanoe.com

There is, it's called LAL, problem is that it was only being produced by one facility (I have read from scientific articles). It would be far more ethical you would think to use a synthetic equivalent than tying up horse shoe crabs, sticking a needle in them, then draining up to 30% of their blood volume. A significant chunk don't survive the experience apparently, surely this is not sustainable.

Wait what was he saying about horseshoe crab blood again? I thought I heard him say it was worth $15,000 a quart and where I live they are everywhere. So where exactly would I bring these things to get paid?

Despite what this video says these are endangered creatures. If you were to try and sell this you might get in trouble for poaching. Extracting their blood is a supervised procedure done by professionals.

That was my thought...how hard is it to breed those guys in captivity or do you have to catch them from the wild, drain a portion then release? (Because killing them, while temporarily more profitable, would end up with them becoming threatened or endangered so best to leave alive to maintain job security.) Edit: I looked it up. A lot are harvested from the wild using the catch and release method like I guessed but they can also be farmed in captivity if they are artificially inseminated or the eggs are collected from the wild. They won't mate on their own in captivity because they only mate where their eggs were previously hatched. They are fairly easy to care for otherwise.

These guys have been vibing on the ocean floor before the dinosaurs came, they've survived Earth's multiple obstacles and endured through it all. It seems even humans can't stop them because despite their blood being worth 15k a quart, they aren't even threatened let alone endangered.

I’ve commonly seen them in aquariums in those small little shallow tanks where you can touch the creatures inside. While you’re supervised of course. The tiny little claws don’t hurt at all by the way. It feels weird as hell, but they are not capable of hurting you. Their shells feel nice.
