Now I am not sure if I understand your video correctly but you said the magsafe battery 1/ defeat the purpose of having thin light phone 2/ does not give much charge to the phone and even less when use intensively. 3/ take 6 hours+ to charge together. Then in the end you conclude it is a good product. It is a confusion to me.

You're not supposed to use a phone while charging, not even thinking of using it for taxing tasks like 4K video recording. My advice to make the best out of this - > use the phone as normal, without this snatched to it. When you're about to not use the phone for extended time 10-60 min, just snap this shit on it. You get the best out of both worlds, the phone battery will not deteriorate so quickly and even your total run (main battery not flat) time will go up - explanation: you should charge between 20-80%. Charging from 20 to 30% costs you 2x less energy than from 90-100%, in other words you can charge a phone 3x to 100% but 5x to 80%...

Super useful review. Appreciate the emphasis on the Mini iPhone. I have an iPhone 13 Mini and I totally agree with the review. While I am super pleased with the 13 Mini's battery performance and overall phone itself, I still went ahead and ordered the magsafe pack to assist me while on the move. I felt it's most useful for the Mini iPhones. It depends on the use case for each individual and it's not for everyone while I personally feel it's a tad overpriced. Just as the magsafe wallet, I am super impressed with what Apple set out to do specially for the folks who bought the Mini phones.

Wholeheartedly agree. I have the 13 mini and the MagSafe Battery Pack serves as both my MagSafe charger and a portable battery pack on those days where I need a bit more oomph to get through the day. Most of the time, the 13 mini battery gets me through a day no problem, but occasionally that added reassurance of having the battery pack on me is a welcome thing. Plus it looks great on the mini!

I have been using iPhones since 2009 with the original iPhone 16Gb. The iPhone mini is TRULY the best iPhone ever made. All batteries die at some point during the day/night or even the next one. You will never get the compact design and the capabilities of this device in any other, however!

For me this is why I bought the Apple MagSafe battery pack: I use it on my phone constantly because this way I’m not actually using my iPhone’s battery when I’m using the iPhone, thus ‘saving’ my iPhone’s battery. Instead I’m using the Apple MagSafe battery when I’m using my iPhone.

That’s false. It still uses your battery. Just in a pass through method. Either way the power going to your screen gets saved in the phones battery first. Even when plugged into the port. Battery is the only way for power to hit the parts that need it.

My only problem with the iPhone 12 mini statement, even tho its my favourite iPhone yet and my daily driver... It's that it lacks the pro features of the the pro model which are the zoom lense and the software features like the AppleRAW and the upto 30 sec night Photography shutter speed, since I'm night photography/Astrophotographer guy.

The battery pack can be charged from an iPhone wirelessly, if the iPhone is plugged in. So it's odd that the battery pack can't be charged wirelessly without being slapped onto an iPhone.

It looks like that the iPhone 12 mini went into optimized charging when you tried to charge both... it stayed at 88% for over 3 hours straight. That's pretty surely optimized charging. It normally shouldn't take 6 full hours but 3.

I do not have experience of Apple iPhones but this video sounds a lot like my experience of Samsung Galaxy phones and Qi chargers. I found that the Qi charger was slow to charge, would not keep up with the rate of battery drain if the phone was being used while charging and gradually messed up the battery so that it became unstable. The phone would go from 100% battery to 5% in a few minutes and randomly shut down. I had to replace the battery and discontinue the use of the Qi charger. Based on this experience my opinion of wireless chargers is that they are bad for the health of the battery. This would not be so bad if the battery was easily replaceable but not in a iPhone.

Just bought the battery pack for my 14pro… I use official clear case and it’s surprisingly hot when charging iPhone w/ MagSafe connected to wire (15W output). I’m afraid it damage the battery so I give it up and back to wire charging. It sucks.

They literally could just make the iPhone thicker, eliminating the camera bump and almost doubling the battery, specially the iPhone mini as it's width is small, it wouldn't be any worse to grab a thicker iPhone mini. Just a reminder, iPhone 3G had 11mm thickness. That's 1,1cm. And was a joy to hold in hand.

For the majority of people 5-6h SoT on an iPhone mini is good enough. The pack is for those that are heavier users. It is for convenience, slap it on when the phone is idle for an hour, 2-3 times a day and even heavy users will not kill their mini battery!

@@andyH_England that I know. But as I said, just by making it 2 to 3mm thicker, and barely adding much weight, they could almost double capacity. A much more elegant way to have more battery, and I strongly believe that majority of users wouldn't mind the extra thickness and weight.

@ I think if you need extra battery life then the Max will be enough for even power-users, the 3800mAh gets as much SoT as the 5000mAh S21U in most tasks? Apple are increasing the iPhone 13 batteries, 20% extra on the Max and around 10% on the others and along with 20% claimed better efficiency from the A15 chip it is easy to see the Max being the best flagship for battery life? I do not disagree with you, but Apple generally aim for efficiency rather than just blindly increasing the battery and not caring about improvements. The 120Hz has forced them to put in a bigger battery for the iPhone 13 Pro Max.

The only thing the mini sucks at is the battery. My 13 is quickly lose battery health. It was 100% from release to May. Between June to July, mine has fallen from 100% to 92%. My XR still has 91%. What?!

I would honestly say that charging a phone while in your tight trouser pockets is not recommended! You may need to look for fast chargers that can quickly charge when the phone is not pocketed.

That’s just not true you can when you hit the low battery mode you can select charge over 90 percent over keep it at 91 it will charge your battery to a 100 and keep it there until MagSafe battery dies . I get about 11 to 12,hours out of my MagSafe battery . Great video tho

I did exactly that. I went from the X to the Mini (it was time). I went with the mini because it was much easier for me to navigate using one hand yet has all the same processing power of the normal sized 12 and the pro/max are just too large for my liking. I will say the standard battery life on the 12 mini isn’t great but I usually charge while @ work, etc. the camera alone is worth the upgrade. Low light photos are so much better than the X.
