As the United States reports record deaths and hospitalizations from COVID-19 in the final days of 2020, we look at how the pandemic that ravaged the country this year has shone a stark new light on racism in medical care. In a viral video recorded by Black physician Dr. Susan Moore, she describes racist treatment by medical staff at a hospital in Indianapolis and says they did not respond to her pleas for care, despite being in intense pain and being a doctor herself. In the video, Dr. Moore says she had to beg to receive pain medication and the antiviral drug remdesivir, and accuses a doctor at Indiana University Health North Hospital of ignoring her pleas because she was Black. “I put forward, and I maintain: If I was white, I wouldn’t have to go through that,” she says. Dr. Moore died December 20, just over two weeks after she posted the video. She was 54 years old.

The doctor and the hospital should be charged. The Hippocratic Oath is one of the oldest binding documents in history. Written in antiquity, its principles are held sacred by doctors to this day: treat the sick to the best of one's ability, preserve patient privacy. I was put out of a medical practice by a lying doctor who called police on me while am unknowingly in waiting calm and quiet for another doctor. The last time I went the doctor she tried to put me on blood pressure medications because my blood pressure was high that day. Now I told that fool I had an energy drink a hour before I arrived & usually I don’t have high blood pressure. She didn’t even check my blood pressure again to make sure. Anyway I told her I’m not taking any pills because I was headed to the store to buy some pomegranate juice. Pomegranate fruit naturally lowers blood pressure & clean out the arteries. Years ago I was in the hospital for abdominal surgery. My surgeon told me I would only be discharged after three crucial body functions occurred. Well, one evening, the doctor on call told me I was being discharged THAT evening even though those three functions had not occurred. When I mentioned this, she tried to tell me that my insurance would not pay for me to stay any longer. This was a lie as I called my insurance company immediately. Why was she so intent on discharging me? I paid extra out of my own pocket to get a private room. One of her patients just had a baby and they wanted my room. Last time I checked a medical procedure trumps delivery of a baby. The woman and baby were fine. Doctors lie. They lie often to Black people and other people of color.

I worked in a Baltimore inner city hospital. I took care of a guy who pulled me aside and said thank you for treating me like a human. I was like well.. yeah.. of course... what do you mean? He said many of the white nurses weren’t treating him well. I paid attention in change of shift and snooped. He was right. I met with my DON and she met with him when he was in a step down unit. She knocked people’s heads together and it changed. That’s great but.. why did we have to do that ffs? Shouldn’t that go without saying?? Racism against patients?? They tried to say it was their bias against gangs or whatever. Really? So why were they like that to a man who was in a car accident? A black guy hit by a drunk driver??

They didn't hand her a bucket of hillbilly heroin pills when she asked for them. Oh, the doctor lady who died was also employed as a prison doctor, so that should tell you all about her level of professional competency. The gist of it was that while she was a doctor in Michigan caring for nursing home inmates, she ODed a patient on Warfarin(anti-clotting/blood thinner), and the patient bled out and died. It looks like she had a history of "deviating from standard protocols" and she would get sassy and combative with any nurse that tried to intervene when she was busy doing stupid, dangerous stuff. They froze her license and slapped a $50,000 fine on her. She pled poverty, whined about having over $100K in student loan debt, and she never paid the fine. Mind you, this was when she was 10 years out of residency, and she had had an entire decade of earning a doctor's salary to get her head together, and pay back her loans. After a few years, and much crying and moaning and playing the race card, they waived the fine due to "economic hardship", and they reinstated her license with training wheels on it. She then fled to Indiana, because malpractice insurance was stoopit expensive in Michigan for her, and Indiana is a tort reform state, so it would be cheaper.

I have seen other KZbin videos by nurses who have blown the whistle on the treatment of black Covid patients in a hospital in New York and one hospital in Texas. The nurses were white but the one in Texas is a black traveling nurse. They all cried and told how black patients are neglected and in some cases, something is deliberately done to the patient that they know will kill them. The patient ends up dead. One nurse told about them giving false test results for Covid-19. The patient was actually negative and they were told they needed to be put on a ventilator. She didn't die..she was murdered. I pray her family gets restitution for the pain and suffering she went through . Obviously the staff at the hospital did not care or respond. If you don't have an advocate when you're in the hospital...at least a hoso4 like this one... You have a chance of losing your life. Tragic and disgusting.

@@margaretkribs2423 very disturbing they didn't care for her it does seem like she was murdered. If you refuse to treat a patient and leave them to suffer then it's murder. I think they resented that she was black and a doctor and from the Caribbean at that and she also knew what she needed for treatment to get better. They resented that. They should be lined up and shot. I don't promote violence but they deserve it. she suffered to her death and no one can convince me it wasn't purposely done.

This is one of the most interesting news report that I have seen in a long time. We have a doctor in Costa Rica that also hated Black people he happened to be a white doctor hating Black people from the United States of America. This doctor got an award for cancer treatment after killing hundreds of Black people by using them as guinea pigs in the experiments the doctor wrote two letters boasting about how he enjoyed killing and infecting hundreds of Black people with cancer and watching them die. Sad The nurses found the letters on the doctors desk and they ran him out of Costa Rica this is a true story USA has problems.
