My father was repairing these rifles (among other stuff) during his military service in 70's and he said there were almost no issues at all. Sometimes, broken recoil spring occurred but mostly it was only a shattered handguard or butt stock that needed to be replaced.

@honzabalak3462
@honzabalak3462 4 жыл бұрын
ALTIN MEDIA It's not a wood. The original Vz.58 rifles manufactured in 1959 had wood furniture but they changed it for a wood impregnated bakelite or something like that on all the guns manufactured from the year 1960 forward.

@@honzabalak3462 I have an information that they started with beaver barf in 1962. It was waterproof but on the other hand quite fragile according to what I heard and read. Anyway, I don't speak from experience so I can be wrong.

I just like the fact of the slide having no cover, the fact that’s it’s a closed bolt is awesome too, It looks an awful lot similar to the AK series of Assault Rifles however I don’t want to say it’s based exactly off of them do to me not really knowing.

@@skinisdelicious3365 They didnt look at AK at all. Literally nothing is like AK in VZ58. Its completely separate, uninspired by AK construction. And no, they didnt do this, in fact Russians didnt even care. Also they werent so stupid to be fooled by looks, and it still looks different than AK, even someone that is not a firearm expert can tell a difference. VZ58 dont have top cover or safety lever.

@@Alen725 Correct on the cheaper front. Incorrect on the better part. I have a couple AKs and 3 VZs. VZs are lighter, smoother action, easier magazine feeding, ergonomic, and more fun to shoot than my AKs. The weight alone makes a huge difference. Holding an ak next to a vz is no contest. It's even more shocking considering it's a milled receiver and not stamped.
@Alen725
@Alen725 3 жыл бұрын
@@supremekizzle You are not in a position to correct someone there. Weight? Modern AKs (factory configuration) are like between 3.3-3.4kg while VZ58 is ~2.9kg. Around 0.45kg is kinda huge until we take into consideration that VZ58 barrel is actually shorter and lighter profile, shorter AK variants weight about same or a little bit more compared to VZ58(0.1kg difference?). Some short version AKs are even lighter depending on furniture. Polymer AK mags are also smaller and lighter compared to VZ58 ones. Overall something like Saiga MKK102, with lighter furniture + light polymags would be as light as VZ58 unloaded (or even lighter), more ergonomical and way softer to shoot gun. Loaded AK would be lighter also because .223 weights less. Saying its lighter and it makes huge difference is not a valid point because weights vary and its not huge for everyone. Smother action? Are you supposed to have multiple firearms yet you notice something so insignificant? AK action is still smooth, I cant tell difference. Easier magazine feeding? You mean seating in rifle? They have literally same way of seating, except that VZ58 magazine release is way harder to reach and you cant even make it bigger like AK one with aftermarket parts. Ergonomic? Not counting aftermarket parts they have literally same ergonomics, VZ58 have nicer and easier safety but some AKs also have levers (thumb safety even). Customised AK with optics mounted (you cant do it on VZ58 unless you buy aftermarket handguard and its still only past frontpost mount) outperforms it ergonomically wise because you can easier customise it to your needs. And whats shocking? VZ58 have tilting bolt that smashes and locks against receiver, it have to be hard and milled otherwise it would break even easier. And it wears off and starts being inconsistent faster than AK or other rotating bolt design, thats why nobody uses that bolt type anymore. So you are obviously incorrect on every single thing you just stated.
