I like the Scary Story Generator spam! It's great to see all the details that go into fleshing out an app and everything that comes with it.

Another marketing idea is that after a user creates a story ask them to share their story to multiple social Media plateforms to get free credits.

1 amazing feature you could also add as pre-prompt. like as user could say The theme of generated images, like a horror then always use dark shady color or black and white images, or all images around dark forests so the story video remains consistent among multiple images.

For the watermark idea, you could do the tiktok approach of changing the location every few seconds. Maybe a different location for the watermark on every segment? Nice product!

i had / have a scary story narrated channel, and got a TON of connections from scary stories channels on reddit. There are a lot of variations of teh scary story channels. I would ask permission to narrate and kept a spreadsheet. So while many are just reading them there was no shortage of writiers. But 1:1 outreach takes time. This is a great marriage of 2 different interests!!

i 100% agree the best way to make a good product is to be the number one user of it. best problems to solve are yours because you’ll better know when u got the right solution when u no longer have the problem. currently thats my struggle i don’t really know of a problem i have that i can solve lol or product i need to create. but i have been thinking of making a platform where u can link your social accounts and get the analytics all in a centralized place but i’m not even a content creator so i wouldn’t even have a use for this type of platform so idk

Hey! I like seeing these side projects! Would be nice to see implementation with other payment gateways other than stripe, one that doesn't require business as some of us are just developing solo. Or does stripe have this? Or is there a workaround this?

Hey, thanks for sharing! I'm curious-will this project ever be made open-source? There are so many technical challenges and architectural patterns that could provide an incredible learning opportunity for others. It would also be really valuable to see the reasoning behind each chosen service and understand why certain decisions were made

As your app grows, when users use the feedback feature you probably want to allow them to include a screenshot of the app in case they're reporting a bug. Maybe even have some way of including the state of the app somehow but I suppose that would be overly complicated for a non-giant app

Idea: build an abandoned checkout auto-emailing SaaS and make videos on it (will make money trust me) I found it a pain in the ass implementing my version of this for my SaaS and this was gonna be my next SaaS to make an easy tool to automatically send transactional emails on checkout abandonment but you may have the idea sir! 😊

You could come up with a more generic "story generator" for subreddits like Tales From TechSuport, AITA, pettyrevenge, etc. Make a bunch of templates

Do you currently have any users for your app that you have a line of communication with?
@DigitalAlchemyst

I am asking because as a hobby I like to write horror themed d&d modules I could easily use AI to convert those over into a story script and run a couple through the app. I am just in a bad financial situation atm so I cant even spare $5, I have my first SaaS project complete code wise but waiting to launch because I cant spare an initial funding for the AI key =/ But thought id offer anyway if you wanted to set up an account with a few credits. Ive just been following the project since you started showing off and think its really cool so thought id offer. Hope this does well for you either way very cool project Cody.

Can you make a video on why you went with replicate over directly using openai or anthropic? I would assume it’s the flexibility and marketplace? How much more expensive is replicate?
@WebDevCody

OpenAI dalle is $0.08 per image, replicate is maybe 0.003 per image

halfway through-why not just build a bot that replies to every message on the subreddit with a generated video (using their story ofc)? atleast some gotta be super-interested right?

I'm quite sure that i have NOT opt-in in many sites and yet they do send me email. They do have then opt-out option in the emails i get
@WebDevCody
@WebDevCody 2 ай бұрын
Pretty sure that’s illegal in many countries in EU, but I could be wrong. Getting marketing emails is supposed to be an explicit opt in action a user needs to take during registration. Even having a pre checked checkbox for marketing emails is violation of that law.
@digidope

@@WebDevCody i'm in EU and afaik it's illegal, but US companies dont seem to care. Here companies seem to be more strict about it after GPDR law came in effect. That said, we cant even save login emails/names without opt-in.
