Have made a number of cabinets with pull-out shelves for the shop and clothes closets but never thought about using that style for a pantry. Or for making the face frame as a unit and then attaching to the cabinet. I will make one of these for the wife but make adjustable shelving using pin holes. Thanks for these ideas, really appreciate your video, proves you can teach an old dog new tricks.

The one thing I really struggle with when making custom depth cabinets is building them to accommodate available drawer slides. It's not a common issue but looking at under mount vs side mount you really need to plan around the slide. I wish this was talked about more in many cabinet making videos.
@MWAWoodworks Жыл бұрын
For custom sizes or builtins, I don't typically plan that way. For me the planning is dictated by the customer's needs and then whatever drawer slide fits is what I base the drawers around. Sometimes you have more space left in the back than maybe you want but I've never had a complaint about that kind of issue.

Nice work, I like the idea of pre-finished plywood for painting. I also think you were wise to cut your drawer sides to rough length prior to milling, an important order of operations that people might miss. Did you consider putting doors on at all?
@MWAWoodworks3 жыл бұрын
Doors would not have functioned well where this cabinet is located. The right side would run into the window sill and prevented the drawers from extending out. Plus these cabinets are inside the pantry and not out in the kitchen so doors would have been a bit overkill. Had I built these cabinets in the kitchen then I would have added doors.

What are the alternatives to those dados to assemble the top bottom and middle of the cabinets? Awesome build!
@MWAWoodworks3 жыл бұрын
Do you have a router and straight edge? That would be the easiest way to cut them. Alternatively you could assemble using pocket screws or dominos

@@MWAWoodworks Thanks for the reply! I only have one router at the moment, and its installed in the table, but i could potentially take it out and do it that way. Was also thinking pocket screws... i might go that way, but the dados seemed stronger.

About the 1:50 mark (notice the wobble) is why I believe a track saw is more accurate for cutting sheet goods to final dimension. No offense to you for I think it just applies to the everyday handling of large panels.

Do you do cabinet work or just home projects for videos? I am a finish contractor and I try and focus on channels that do production work for customers? There is great things to learn from everyone it’s just when making product for money it tends to cut out anything that will slow a guy down? Such as cutting dado’s by making multiple passes over an 1/8th TS Blade? Infinity makes an 8 1/4” x 1/4” blade for your TS and I cut out 8 drawers dados In about an hour or less? I really liked your cabinet video and drawer slide attachment ! That is a super fast way to attach slide whereas before I used a jig from Kreg?
