Coming from Connecticut I know just where you’re talking. Great job.

I lived in Windham County CT for a year now. Been off the air since Hurricane Ian decided that our 20yrs living in Florida were over. Trying to get back on the air now things have settled down. Nice to see ham radio is alive and well in CT again. Enjoy your videos. 73..Joe

Nice research and follow through, Rob. This may give others the incentive to research their area for possible additions. Hope to get that new park with you. 73 N4WLC

Corncob net on the FTDX10? Good information! There is a lot of state owned wasteland around me but they are not listed as parks.

The problem is I live in Houston and there aren't any state or federal parks within reasonable distance for most hams, it is a POTA desert. Of course we are only the 4th largest city in the US. They need to allow city parks to be added, this is the biggest flaw in Pota and certainly is keeping a lot of people off the air. POTA would be a good way to recruit new hams and help the hobby grow but I doubt it will achieve either goals without city parks.

It would be far too much work for the POTA program to manage city parks in their system as it would grow the database exponentially. Keep in mind it is a volunteer organization run purely on donations. I just looked at the POTA map and see a dozen qualifying parks around the outskirts of the city. I also know one of the biggest proponents of POTA, K8MRD, live near Houston and is active from serval parks in that area. In other words, even though you don't have the park density that we do in the North East, you have options.
