Love your videos! Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I am planning on using foam insulation on a shuttle bus. I am learning as I go, so your videos are extremely helpful. I was hoping you had a video of what is the next step after the foam insulation.

I installed 1x2 fir strips lengthwise over the metal, then had spray foam to the edge of the fir strips-had to grind it back down even. Ended up with 2.25" of foam over the whole bus. No such thing as too much insulation.

Good morning! We as a family of 6 have been watching many of your videos, great work. We especially appreciate how you weave life with Christ and ministry into you videos, keep it up! Your family has inspired us to pursue bus life, thanks. I am sure another has asked, I just have not seen yet. Do you plan to sell your original bus? Do you have a buyer yet? We would like to discuss being a possible buyer.

it seems like you never answered the questions about the final thickness of your foam, did you get expansion of two inches for the 14 R value? How many tanks did you use? I commend your willingness to tackle another bus. We have a mutual friend, Tim in Colorado. We met him when we were there for the tiny house festival.

It did expand. I expect to get a full 2” (R14) after the second application. I have used just one set so far.

Were you able to do the inside with the first 600bft kit or did you need to open the second kit? I won't be doing a roof raise. I was originally thinking I might need the 600+200 kit. Perfect timing as I just found that same kit online and now I found your video!
@TheBusLifeShow
@TheBusLifeShow 6 жыл бұрын
We used one kit on the first pass. We did a second pass on it not too long ago. 2 kits total. We will be getting a third to do the undercarriage of the bus.
@hotmimi666
@hotmimi666 6 жыл бұрын
How many sq ft total did the 2 kits end up with? just estimate...thanx, doing same as Mark, no roof raise, and just doing ceiling and walls. On a 38ft 77pass dognose....
@CJCWoodWorking
@CJCWoodWorking 6 жыл бұрын
when a kit says its 600 bft, that is 600 square feet of board 1 inch thick. i'm going to guess you have 6 ft high walls...6x38 (twice because 2 walls) = 456 square feet. ceiling 8x38 = 304 square feet...total 760 square feet. you would need 1 - 600 bft kit and a 200 bft kit just to do 1" of spray foam. double that if you want 2 inches.

Those filters in your mask are active coal filters, they ware out if you don't put them away in a air tight sealed box. And they also wear out overtime!

That was a pretty thin layer of foam. I understand that you can run into real big problems if you put it on too thick. Did you then later put another top layer on to get more depth? When they did my house they put it on in two layers in two days. Also they used a hose to the mask to bring in outside air. Some of this stuff is poisonous. Was your mask respirator OK for this foam? Looks like a nice job. Oops ! Later, I see you did indeed go for another couple of passes. Perfect!

Doesn't look like it expanded very much except heavy areas near the ribs. I've seen 'professionals' spray from 55gal drums 1 time in person and that expanded instantly 1.5-2" thick and was hard in seconds.
