Really comes down to how often videos are being made and how much of a backlog you have, there's a channel called solving the money problem, similar sub count and probably less views per vid just talking about tesla, but he makes a video every day that's 20+ minutes long. He did one talking about how much money he makes and its mind blowing.

A really timely video (at least for me). While £900 monthly ad revenue is currently beyond my wildest dreams, the reality is that that amount of money hardly comes close to paying my monthly rent. Really good to hear about the other revnue streams that can be taken advantage of. Until I progress to that stage, I will keep my boring lawyer day job and will work nights on my videos.

The reality is most of the stories you hear about people quitting to do YT full time are the rare minority.. those kind of stories circulate because they catch people's attention and exploit their fantasy of sticking it to the man. They usually end up selling a course about how to make it on KZbin and the vicious cycle continues

I would say this is 100% accurate. Just because KZbin doesn't pay well by itself doesn't mean that there aren't other ways to make more income. However, all of these sources of income are never guaranteed nor are they consistent. So even if you're starting to make enough money off of these forms of income it doesn't necessarily mean to quit your job. I'd wait until you have been uploading consistently for a while and have been seeing more money than your job has been providing for at least 6 months to a year (just to be safe.)

I started my channel as a hobby years back. Being unemployed now is forcing me to turn it into a career. I'm in the planning phase now to revive my channel but the first goal is to pay my rent with the revenue in about 6 months. It's a 2-3 year plan. I'm burning through savings but I have a vision. Acquiring sponsorship will be key to actually make it a real job. We push on.
