Ready for the most peaceful beautiful shallow sail yet? Ready or not, it's go time! We say goodbye to Calabash Bay is search of new waters, and hopefully some FISH.
Turns out, to nobody's surprise, we are terrible at fishing. We're bound to figure it out eventually, but today is not looking like the day.
Sailing through minefields of bomies only a foot or two below the keel has us on edge...only to find ourselves in one the most rolly anchorages yet. hold on to somethin!

Hi Team Eva, just noticed how you could easily improve your reaching speed & boat balance. When you get the chance I think you could set up some snatch blocks on pad eyes as far outboard as possible. The other thing you could do is turn your jib cars into adjustable cars with purchase systems that lead back to the cockpit. This will allow you to get the clew outboard which opens the slot between the main & Genoa leech. That stops back winding to the underside of the mainsail & takes tension off the leech. It will improve your boat speed dramatically and balance of the boat in the upper wind speeds. Happy sailing

I am finally caught up. It has taken me about 2 months and now the waiting for each episode is going to be rough. I have really enjoyed the rebuild and refit but the cruising is really making me jealous. I still have about 2 years before I can retire and take off on my Jeanneau SO440. I am setting her up for extended cruising and your videos are giving me lots of ideas. Keep them coming.

You folks are cut from the pioneer cloth spirit. As I follow your channel adventures I am reminded of how ill prepared/experienced you seemed to me. Think about it. A gorgeous full bloom soft hands with nails and accoutrements including numerous modeling calls to a fine compensation career (with all it’s obvious pitfalls and catcalls)… let’s just wonder for some moments at what we’re seeing now??? Stunningly beautiful woman baiting hooks, speaking ‘boat vernacular’, co-managing sails, anchor and tie down duties is so out of the norm! I want to commend you and the sterling Captain man together. Awesome, tho worn out by Pop nuts society, is the best word to describe my appreciation of you both through this ad-sucky medium. I have so many questions for y’all!! Like, what do you do at night? Do you anchor or switch shifts? Are you ever afraid? How do your dogs deal with the limited space? Are they couch potatoes? How often do you go to land? Is Mr. Evans intentionally long haired or does he let it grow for convenience only to get it shaved off and start again? Have either of y’all gotten sea sick? How long does it take your body to correct when you hit land or there not that much movement most of the time? I’m right there with y’all. I hope y’all have the best experience ever and I’m so thankful y’all share with us!!❤️❤️

Great news about the boat show. My wife and I wanted to go in 2020 but they canceled it over Covid. So as soon as tickets for 2021 came available we booked. My whole house was hit with the flu. I held out hope of recovery right up to the day we were to leave, but we didn't make it. This year they can cut me off at the knees, and I'll walk the show on my nubs. Thanks for the code, and see you guys there.

We are living aboard on Lake Michigan right now until we can join you guys in the Bahamas next summer. We are having the same problem with our depth gauge, make sure you tried scrubbing the transducer with a Brillo pad to ensure that there is no anti foul sticking to it. The copper in the paint can screw things up. You can order a kayak depth gauge from Amazon for like $70 that you can at least dangle over the bow when anchoring.
@tybach3829
@tybach3829 2 жыл бұрын
Our depth sounder started to work intermittently during our recent summer sailing trip. Our first few phone calls to the manufacturer failed to identify the problem other than ‘your transducer is shot and you need a new one.’ Facing back orders and supply chain issues that would see a new transducer arrive in October (not the best time to cruise in British Columbia!) and facing the prospect of missing the beauty of sailing the Gulf Islands in the summer, we started calling around to find a sounder that would get us through the next few weeks. That until one of the stores suggested we pour antifreeze or mineral oil in the in the in-hull transducer ‘tank’ . The depth sounder immediately worked again! Vacation was preserved and the cost of replacing the transducer avoided! The shallow depths of the Bahamas must be nerve-racking - where we sail, depths are thousands of feet and anchoring in 70 or more feet of water is not uncommon. Love your youthful enthusiasm and sense of adventure, and the dogs of course! We too to sail with two big dogs. How do you keep your boat so clean and free of sand….our pups are dirty and messy🤪🤪🤪

Sailing down wind will have no heeling effects. Now if you fall off either port or starboard then begin reaching. Further you far off the more you reach and beat. Sailing down wind is the fastest one can sail. The canvas can do miracles. I am envious.

Hey guys! Was just thinking in this video you had mentioned sailing upwind, you heel over quite a bit. Just FYI, in case you didn’t already know, when this happens all you have to do is let your sails out a bit more and you will stop heeling over so much. It’s good to know on those days you just can’t take it anymore. Or you have to cook or any situation where the heeling is just unbearable. Great video. Have fun, wish we could make it to Annapolis, one day fo sho! Have a great weekend! ❤️ Nikki & Bobby

In regards to your depth gauge one swim under the boat see if somethings may be blocking it. If that’s not the case I said it’s intermittent I’d say look for a loose connection. it could be a sneaky loose connection at one of the ends of the wire that wouldn’t necessarily show especially with heat shrink. This is really check that is using a testing probe with a lightbulb in it. All right it might actually be a diode but you get the point you connect it to one end and then you connect it to another and you see if there’s current going through when the light shines. These kind of probes coming to basic styles one has two blunt ends you just touch to each point see if the light shines the other is a clip on one end of a wire that goes to it looks similar to an ice pic with the light built into the handle so that if you stick the tip of your probe into a wire or touch it to another connection you can tell if there’s continuity if the light shines. An ohmmeter would also work. Just checked for resistance if there’s a little resistance you got a good connection if it’s infinite in resistance you got an open circuit but you probably already know this. Good luck in tracking down your problem.
