After the very last 206 CC was built, Peugeot could look back at a a successful career, but did you know that the French carmaker did not invent the open 2+2 seater themselves? To put it more correctly; the management was very unconvinced about the whole idea for a long time. The exact story around that is explained to you by Sjoerd van Bilsen in episode 347 of Sjoerds' Weetjes.
One might argue that it was historically only fitting that Peugeot would react to the launch of the Mercedes SLK, because the idea of the metal foldaway roof was actually something that the French had introduced more than sixty years ago. But Peugeot themselves did not react to the concept car SLK and later the second prototype of the "Sports Light Short" named concept car. The idea came from another company like you will hear in this episode of Sjoerds' Weetjes. What formed the inspiration of the 206 CC? How long did the development take of the convertible with foldaway metal roof? Who build the CC-version? That and more information about the 206 CC is shared in this 347th episode of the exclusive series Sjoerds' Weetjes.
In episode 345 Sjoerd got the idea of making a video about the development process of the Peugeot 206 CC. He was talking about another convertible of the French car conglomerate PSA; the Citroen C3 Pluriel and he made the connection with the story of its sister model. Sjoerd was discussing the concept of the C3 Pluriel and what way the convertible went from start to production start. The story is different for the Peugeot 206 CC which is a sister model. But the 206 CC and the C3 Pluriel are not technically the same. This current episode will lead to a new episode because this 347th episode led to the idea for another model. To be continued.
