Amazing :) we need as many alternatives to plastic as we can get.

But how can it cover any type of food if it dissolves in water?

Metal rust, but you can still make a boat out of it.

@@sunshine3914 I really wanted to know how, it wasn’t a snotty comment. As there’s an explanation for why metal doesn’t always rust in contact with water, so there must be one for this thing too!

Usually with bio plastics, "dissolve in water" means it takes weeks or months, but not hundreds or thousands of years to dissolve as with regular plastic (also dependent on temperature and physical forces such as the waves in the ocean). So depending on the kind of bio plastic, you can still cover food with it

Unfortunately, it's like biofuels, the process to manufacture these is incredibly slow and incredibly expensive without much hope of improving either anytime soon. Yes, it is also limited to what it can protect/store, etc. It's a nice fantasy, though.

I would rather pay extra for this than use plastics just because they are bit cheaper and contribute in pollution

Shouldn't we be worried about all the plastic waste on Earth's surface that can be recycled before finding new alternatives to make more plastic?
