It makes a lot of sense that Spam has a factory over in S. Korea. Koreans absolutely LOVE IT!! They give it away as gifts - like as part of a gift basket that includes other things like fruit, candy etc. Korean "sushi" is called "Kimbap" and yes it's absolutely mixed in along with a number of other things (pickled radish, carrot strips, strips of fried egg and that fake crab stuff). It's delicious and it only cost about 2 or 3 bucks (in Canadian currency that is) when I lived there from 2002-2005.

You gotta eat it with eggs cooked over easy. Cook the on medium low heat so they stay soft. Slice the spam into about 1/8 in thick rectangular slices and fry in olive oil on medium heat until desired crispness is reached. Cook some white rice and have one egg per scoop of rice. Make sure the yolk is runny. Place the egg on top of the scoop of rice so when you eat it the yolk mixes with the rice. Eat with the spam slices. You can actually get this at McDonald's in Hawaii.

SPAM is a good thing to have right now during this Coronavirus stuff. It's cheap ($3.00 for a can) and you don't need to use much. You can't keep eating avocado toast in this situation. (PS: Try avocado toast with a slice of panfried spam) You can make so many dishes out of it, it's amazing. Below is a recipe that I personally enjoy. Hashbrowns topped with Panfried SPAM and Cheese..... 2 hashbrowns (can be store bought or homemade, 3 if a larger serving portion is desired) 2 SPAM slices (4 slices if you want more..) Any type of shredded cheese you like (I recommend Pepperjack Cheese, American shredded cheese) Make/bake the prefrozen store hashbrowns (if homemade, skip this) and wait until they are done. Mash the hashbrowns until finely shredded or however you like it. Grab SPAM can and open it, set the SPAM brick out and cut off as many slices as you need. Dice the spam or keep it in the rectangle shape. Panfry the spam slices/diced spam until golden brown. Top with cheese Melt with your choice of tool.

Lettuce, of will balance the saltiness only in flavor, but you'll still be ingesting way too much sodium to be healthy. The rice just masked the saltiness. It's still there.

I've worked in a food factory before, so, I think it's funny that they don't show you what is "carved off of the bone". Also if you ever see "mechanically separated" and the like be wary. Anything that isn't bone is usually fair game: fat, veins, skin, etc. Remember: 100% pork still means all those things!

Every flavor except 'original' has "mechanically separated chicken" in it. I've read the labels.

"Is that ham processed?" "Is that ham processed? If it's processed I don't want it" Ma'am, that is an eleven pound whole slab of deli ham. It has no bones, fat or connective tissue. It is an amalgamation of the meat of several pigs, emulsified, liquified, strained and ultimately inexorably joined in an unholy meat obelisk. God had no hand in the creation of this abhorrence. The fact that this ham monolith exists proves that God is either impotent to alter His universe or ignorant to the horrors taking place in his kingdom. This prism of pork is more than deli meat. It is a physical declaration of mankind's contempt for the natural order. It is hubris manifest. We also have a lower sodium variety is you would prefer that.

When a Hurricane was coming Walmart supper store sold out and it was almost a month before I could find it. Everyone has SPAM in there food storage. I live alone and have 8 to 10 can on my shelf and the time and most of the time more. There are many ways to cook it up to eat. I like to go out and pick a fresh pineapple in my backyard to cook with it. But when there is no power, I can warm it up with a Sterno stove. It doesn't need much heat.

As a Korean, I find spam gift sets acceptable, but definitely not luxurious. Other common affordable gifts can be e.g., stacks of tuna cans, packages of cooking oil, or other popular side dishes. I used to get them from my employer where they hand over many different presents as budget permits.
