This recipe is the closes I e seen to mine. I’m an Austro-Hungarian Oma who has taken a good number of my early years to perfect my red cabbage and sourkraut recipes. I will say I have never had anyone dislike either. People who detest sourkraut usually love mine. I serve atop whipped or mashed potatoes and with whatever pork or sausage is desired. Someday soon I will get my recipe prepared and put it online to share it with the world. Thank you for sharing yours!

That sounds so delicious! It would be lovely to see your recipe online. I always loved smashing my potatoes with a fork as a kid.. to make it soak up the sauerkraut flavor. (and I still do that, haha)

Traditional german sauerkraut isn't cooked. It's fermented.

This is a recipe how to cook fermented sauerkraut rather than how to ferment it. There is plenty of recipes with cooked sauerkraut, all traditional. If someone chooses to eat uncooked vegetables that's great but this is not what this recipe is.
