Been a PC/Mac technician for 20 years before switching to other technical fields. I have this bad habit of buying broken iPads and iPhones :) telling myself that one day I will work to fix them. Most of them have either a broken screen or dead battery. So hopefully I don't stumble upon the same issues that you had.

Yes very entertaining. Love your videos. For some reason I was under the impression that you couldn’t replace the battery in iPads and if you sent them in for repair they just send you a refurbished iPad. Is that how it was in the early days of iPads or did I just get bad information. And how much does it cost to have the battery replaced, Apple Store vs tablet repair store in the strip mall?

Honestly, i don't remember.. I have actually replaced batteries in the ipad before and the cost was much better than apple. Older iPads were always cheaper to repair. The newer ones did cost more and it sometimes was better to have a third party do it unless you had Apple Care with Apple.

@@TheAppleHelpline Thanks. I have 2 iPads that I still use in different capacities & both have run down batteries. One is an iPad Air2 & the other is iPad Pro 2nd gen. I wouldn't attempt to replace the batteries myself but we have an ICare Store very close & I might check them out. They replace the battery in my iPhone 6S Plus & the battery is really good. I use it as a second camera when making dance videos.

They are difficult to repair because they were assembled by machines, because humans can't manifest the physical precision and accuracy that robots can. It's not some big conspiracy on Apple's part. iPads are not meant to be user serviceable and Apple also does not want to repair them. Your local Apple store can do some repairs, yes, but these electronic devices are meant to either work, or be replaced.

But I use to be able to repair these without breaking 80 things... LOL.... I should have prefaced that thought by stating Apple more than likely doesn't want people to use 3rd party parts which might cause other issues...
