The show’s less visually noisy art style, which these toys are mimicking, helps a LOT to keep the designs clean. The art styles of most other Transformers works have more detail, not that it’s a bad thing. It just makes working with the toys harder because you’ve gotta copy this little detail, that one, so on and so forth. Again, not necessarily a bad thing.

@@ccggenius I get what you're saying. I do say it delivers fairly consistently. And I think he's a good figure for the most part. The alt mode is dumb, but the design it's based on is dumb. He is a serious shell-former, but I've definitely seen worse. And the robot mode looks great. I even like the backpack. I hate how Ratchet's tools look stored on his back and Wreck-Gar's backpack is perfect for the job.

Animated Prowl is the single greatest bike transformers figure in existence. I really hope you get your hands on it one day. That thing is just straight black magic with how freakin clever it is. Edit: I just processed you had a really old review of animated prowl. Although maybe a revisit video of that guy would be interesting.

Agreed. Even the smaller Core-Class-sized one is really smart I am told. I have been lucky enough to get my hands on the standard version and the Samurai Armour one...and even though the armor is a bit hefty and fiddly to pose him with, it still looks dope and it's an excellent concept.

"this motorcycle is KILLER" is such an apt line considering this is essentially the Cy-Kill transformation. The Animated and Prime lines really had some wonderful examples of "sometimes it's about doing not a lot of stuff." Also see: TFP Vehicons and their roof-shins.

This figure survived several collection purges just out of sheer awesomeness of the design and how well the figure is designed. I only didn't like the weapons. They're weird and not practical, but the figure is still so worth owning.

Animated period was a good time for bikeformers. Animated Prowl remains one of the best ever made IMO, and 2007 movie Arcee (yes that exists for some reason) is also a steller toy

I'd like to think that animated had some of the best motorcycle transformers. Like this figure and prowl. Unlike other transformers figures where hasbro gives them a car mode for not being able to make good robot from motorcycles.

Animated had some brilliant character designers that planned the transformations from the beginning. And I love how unique the proportions are from one character to the next. These last few TF lines have been a bit bland in that regard. Most vehicle transformers today look like traditional mecha which is fine but you can only do so many carformers with the same proportions before they start to copy each other.

This always has and probably always will be one of if not my FAVORITE bikeformer. Surprisingly, I actually adore the Legacy Arcee mold, but my absolute *Grail* is 2011[I think] Comicon Pink Prime Arcee. But if anything were to surpass PinkPrime I would have to be Oil Slick, but custom painted into the black color scheme Then given Monster decals. That would sell like fucking crack in Vegas

I have him in my collection, he not been in storage for, well, since I got him, these days, he just hanging out with the Cons G1 Season 1 & 2 cast, more or less, thou its kind of my ideal season 1 & 2 cast (seige & ER figures), because it includes ROTF Lockdown (Not the AOE verison), I just liked that figure and he blends in well with the cons, Oilstick is another that blends in well thou there is one titan master on that shelf in the form of Trigger Happy (I think that's his name, transforms into a jet and is mostly blue with two twin barrel cannons on his robot mode arms)

This guy and me, we have history... Before i got into collecting Transformers i remember seeing this figure in the toy section of a supermarket and i kept thinking about it for a year, the next year we bought it as a child's day gift for some relative's kid, then fast forward to 3 years later i started collecting Generations figures and only had legends ones, i bought him second hand covered in shit, dust and pen ink, my first "deluxe". I disassembled and cleaned him up, rebuilt him, took some kickass pictures and kept him in a box for the next 4 years since i got kicked out of home. I found a place to stay, got my old collection back with the new ones, but had to sell a lot of them due to financial problems during the pandemic, he stayed. Now i'm slowly buying figures again, Oil Slick just joined the display as part of Mayhem, currently he carries Chop Shop in his motorcycle mode, just outside of a grizzly, in-scale chop-shop garage with the rest of my Mayhem Transformers, where he's the center piece.

Fun fact, i loved this dude so much growing up that i basically edited by memory of episodes to feature him. Like i dont think i ever saw the actual scene he was in but whenever i looked back at animated he basically took the place of lockdown and meltdown, i still remembered those two of course but i vividly remembered scenes like lockdowns "one small problem i am the vehicle" scene with oilslick Semi related i did the same for the season 3 episode where head master controls starscream's body but instead of optimus fighting headmaster it was sorri fighting nanosec. I think i dreampt all of these and those dreams just melted together with my actual memory of the show until i actually rewatched it. Weird

I really don't give that much credit to enemy to toys, this is mostly because it's easy for them not to have kibble as they were very stylized and thereby you couldn't say that anything was kibble. Transformers Prime Arcee is actually trying to look like a realistic motorcycle that someone would ride in their everyday life, so of course her transformation is going to be more complex than this guys.

Oil Slick is the only TF from Animated in my collection, as I am not a big fan of Tartakovsky as an animation style. So why is it part of my collection? I also collect GI Joes, and Oil Slick is fully 1-18 scale compatible, making him an absolutely perfect Dreadnok motorbike. 😅😅😅

I actually hated Oil Slick as a kid His transformation was too complex for my tinny brain (read: skill issue) But more than that his narrow limbs were just awful, even out of the box he couldn't handle being played with and would barely stand on his own. After only a few days his limbs just popped off non stop and I stopped playing with him. Even as an adult he stays in his bike form PERMANENTLY because his ball joints are literally the worst I've ever seen on a Hasbro transformer. Maybe I just got a defective figure or something idk

His weapon is bad ass though, very kinda like SoundWave's batteries becoming a gun and shoulder cannon. I can never find another transformer that has a chopper, or more Harley design. They're all just crotch rockets. That being said, you do know that you can tab in the skull to the side of his shoulder, right? I remember my little brother had this figure, but he didn't care for it much, so I played with it growing up. I think it's still at my dad's house.

I had the animated bumblebee and that after a while went to shit the plastic on it wasn't the greatest yes it was a bit of clear plastic but like the normal like paid plastic and all that that eventually broke on me I was a younger kid at the time but I was still trying to keep it indecent condition I still have maybe one animated toy and that is firestorm from the safeguard twins
