Suggestion to confirm "The Input Delay" using facts: Group of people needed here each of them will play on different platform so all platforms Elden Ring been released on will be covered. The following actions needed to be recorded : 1-While equipped Bloodhound's fang attack(light and heavy) in one handed and two handed each 2-Roll in all three loads (light,med and heavy) 3-Jump The video and the game needed to be recorded in 60 FPS(if there's an option to force that in different platform then do that) while using a controller input display program. A timer in frames and seconds that starts the moment input shown it's been pressed by the program (previously mentioned) to the moment the action begins. Put the platform you've tested all of that on the bottom left, your username on the upper left, the controller input display program overlay and the timer on the bottom right while your character facing left for all the actions. Finally an editor needed to make all tests in side to side comparison in normal ,half and quarter speed.

Most bosses are designed to catch rolls and panic rolls. A lot of them, if you start rolling constantly, will keep winding up their attack animation and swing much later just to catch you out of stamina. I swear Phil’s mindset is that as soon as he hits dodge he gets full invincibility frames instead of everyone else’s mindset that you get the invincibility frames at the apex of the dodge. And that’s why he calls it input delay. Even when he’s displaying the ‘lag’, his character starts to roll immediately when he pushes dodge, but it takes a moment for him to get into the air for those invincibility frames.

I'm on ng+,have beaten the scarlet rot queen twice,dual wield her sword(hand of Malenia),have pretty much 2 or more of every weapon(except serpant hunter,which I'm kinda upset about do to my OCD about wanting to dual wield anything,including sheilds)and atm am 421:56 hours in,on the only fromsoft game I have ever played,and the only problem I have is how on PS4 I wish there was more range on horse movement.like it's a tad hard on PS4(on mine anyway,which could be my controller tbh)to walk while on torrent, especially when trying to platform on torrent,for example,doing the rock jump from the minor erdtree up to frenzied flame village.but that is literally my only honest gripe about elden ring.its a fabulous game,input lag is practically none existent (that I can tell),and is the grandest adventure I've been on since final fantasy 10 (my favorite game that I play through multiple times a year,every year),and has none of the problems dsp says.usually I give him the benefit of the doubt,but on this particular gripe,I believe he's just making excuses and trying to do things he is not any where near leveled for.elden ring can not be played properly without at the very least SOME level grinding,either in the many side caves, catacombs,evergaol's,roaming enemies/mini bosses,one of the numerous "rune farms",like beastial sanctum area,and or mohg palace,ect., ect.if you start elden ring thinking minimal grinding isn't at the very least needed some,then elden ring isn't for you.so on this one,I'll say Phil needs to level and or get gud.great video,laughed my ass off,as usual,keep it up,✌️👍

First I'd like to thank you for the detailed comment about your experience with the game. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but I think level grinding would happen naturally in the game meaning you don't have to plan it out in order to fight specific boss; Let's talk about Crucible Knight (the one you fight in Evergaol) the question here can you beat that boss at level 1 if you're dedicated (git gud)enough? I saw people beat Malenia at level 1 so I'm assuming that can be true for Crucible Knight. Now I'm not saying the player shouldn't level up, but they should level up enough to make that experience balanced(for souls-like game),sadly this game doesn't offer a way to "deposit levels" for those who missed a location and now they're overleveled for it and therefore can't experience the intended way to fight in there(tell me if you've experienced that yourself as someone who is on NG+),I think adding some sort of level recommendation on the map for those who want to fight everything at the recommended level would be a giant help. The player can control how many levels they would gain after all, hence some people fought Malenia at level 1 and others at level 150+(like DSP), can I compare those two experiences as viewer just because they share the same source(the game)? I think not, because that's the only similarity they have, it'd be like comparing a volleyball player to basketball player just because they share a common thing(they're using a ball for playing). Elden Ring gives the player variety of choices to go for, you can be from a character without armor who can punch bare handed enemies to death to the most broken build with the heaviest armor +being overleveled, etc. Again, can I compare any of those experiences to each other ?No, those players indeed played Elden Ring, fought the same bosses and got the same items, etc. ,but the experience those people had with the game is so different from each other to the point they only share those things. Secondly As for the horse, yeah, it's not precise(more noticeable when you're trying to pickup items),but it's not hindering the fights.

@@Sufyan_Aljamal yes,crucible night is very do-able at the level Phil was attempting,but as a melee,at that level,most players probably wouldn't get it done,at least I know I wouldn't put my self through that knowing I can do it later,and not ruin my enjoyment so early in the game.im sure I could do it at that lev l,if I really wanted to,but it would take great effort,I'm not ashamed to admit.besides leveling till you can survive crucible's many double hits,that fight is actually meant to be used to teach the parry mechanic.which while parry,on say the buckler shield, wouldn't take as long to beat compared to a level one player,it would still take a fair amount of practice to beat that way.both strategies are for sure viable,for me parry isn't a mechanic I'm totally trash at pulling off I'm still not consistent enough to rely on it,for that fight,at Phil's level when he tried.i used a quality build ,mostly balanced stats,the demi-human queen staff and glintstone to beat him.when I did it in my first play through at around level 40-ish(tbh I can't remember the exact level but it was close to 40).i just kept my distance,and when he swung his sword or shield I would do a 2 hit with glintstone,then move back to keep out his range.the dragon tail and dragon dive,those just have to be dodged,no way around that,do to how hard they hit especially that early in the game.but,that's just one of many strats that people can use to beat him,and that was the only time I didn't use a katana to beat a boss,but that's what it took for me at that level,and I was happy even if I didn't use my preferred weapon.the main thing I see alot of streamers,refusing to use summons,or anything that makes the game any easier,do to them being souls games veterans or at least having played multiple fromsoft games,which I don't get tbh.while elden ring is a fromsoft game and is alot like the demon/souls series,it's a different game,meant to be played different.so I get that they being souls vets,feel like it has to be played like demon/dark souls,but no matter how similar it is to older fromsoft games,elden ring is by no means demon/dark souls,and isn't meant to only be played like people did them.iys easy to see that's the truth with all the options fromsoft put in elden ring,they just didn't intend for it to ONLY be played like that.but,it doesn't require excessive grinding either,just doing as much of the limgrave areas,caves,catacombs,area bosses,ect, ect,will get you set up nicely to take on the lakes area,without any grinding.you can make the game trivial to a point by grinding,and grinding to serious levels,pretty early on is easy to do because of the open world being so open.but it's not at all a must.the game gives you more than enough runes,gear, weapon's,ashes,and magics to overcome the game if you follow the grace sites that guide you,without any focused grinding,though if you go from one area to another and theres a vast difference in difficulty,then just come back to it later.theres far to much to do than to just try to beat everything you encounter,the s cond you encounter it.and I totally believe a simple level suggestion for each cave, catacomb,evergaol,area boss,ect ect would do wonders for alot of people's enjoyment of the game.elden ring is in my top 5 favorite games,and while I see it as a complete masterpiece,that doesn't mean I wouldn't enjoy some qol additions,like level suggestion.no matter how great any game is,there's no such thing as a perfect game,for me elden ring is very close to perfect the way it is,but I'm not everyone,and even I can see where your suggestions(like level suggestion,and some torrent tinkering)would make it even better,even for me,than it already is.

There are issues with timing stemming from game performance. Sometimes it's delay with the inputs, other times it's issues with dropped frames or input. It can happen though I suspect it can happen more on PC since it's not a great port and the greater variance in build leads to more varied performance outcomes. But yeah, he's definitely confusing the animation windup with input delay most of the time.

You know I understand why he had that philosophy of not wanting to wuss out on a boss that he can't beat, but only in the respect of other Dark Souls games. Here, it just doesn't make sense, and you would think he would understand that given that it's a open world game, yet he frantically and stubbornly holds onto the idea that he needs to keep beating at a boss until the heat death of the universe. I have to wonder if he does this because of his poor performance in the other souls games where he would just grind off cam until he could cheese the boss that way?

The roll's delayed, I got cheated, I can't see, the camera's shit, I jumped and the game said I didn't jump, it's just an unending list of whining and crying about things that are FromSoft staples at this point that anybody who's played as many FromSoft games as Phil has should be more than used to by now. The only semi-valid complaint DSP(which he incorrectly calls "input delay") has in regards to dodging is that the input queue is entirely too loose. Been plenty of times where I've messed up a dodge, got hit, then the dodge I screwed up happens after the stagger. Still, it's amazing that he's played every soulsborne game and hasn't figured out queued inputs.
@DR.SLAMMER2 жыл бұрын
I haven't tried any katanas in my first or 2nd(current) playthrough, but that sounds more like there's a "dead zone" that activates during the startup frames to prevent unwanted inputs being queued by potential mis-inputs/mashing. But I'll try out the scenario you've presented to better understand your point next time I play.
@Abedeuss2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the only way I found to "clear" the input buffer is to hold down the dodge/sprint button after getting up, so the game doesn't try to dodge after I get up by mistake.
