Trying to squeeze 550HP out of a Naturally Aspirated LS1 takes quite a bit of work. In this case we have to stroke our factory LS1 to 6.2 Liters, while increasing compression to 11:1.
We are also using Texas Speed PRC heads paired with the Texas Speed BFD cam, allowing use to flow as much air as possible.
We also made sure to install an intake the can flow a large volume of air, and the Holley Low Ram Intake was the secret sauce we needed.
Engine Parts:
JE Pistons
K1 Rods
Manley Crank
Texas Speed Heads
Texas Speed Cam

The video I watched before this, a Junkyard 6.0 Chuck norris cam, headers, factory rec port head swap, Is factory truck intake, 500hp, Engine dino. Gotta love the LS 😁 Mine only has 799 heads so More than likely down 100hp. But ive got like $2500 in it, And that's counting holly Terminator, Talk about eating my words i've been a ford man my whole life. Don't tell anybody.

It's a 6 liter with decent flowing heads I mean of course it's going to make decent power with the right setup. Ford's make the power with alot less displacement and own when boost enters the equation. They can make a ton of power with boost on a stock untouched long block. Don't feel too ashamed of your Ford roots. 500 hp on an engine dyno isn't that great for a 6 liter engine that has been gone into (heads, cam etc etc).

Richard Holdener said the only reason to ever run the low ram holley is for hood clearance. The high ram is basically better from 3000+ rpm. Low ram barely edges out the high ram at around 7300 rpm.

Not hard to make 550hp with LS. I took a $1500 junkyard 6.0 (rect port heads) and put in a cam and long tubes. Tada! 550hp. And that was a mild street cam.

Need to watch some @richardholdner vids. Short runner intake manifold (like the low ram) perfoms best at higher rpm (above 7000) with s loss of torque and power down low. So intake needs to match camshaft power range for best results.

@@CoreyHosfordRacing i was a boost nutcase until I discovered cosworth engines. And watched guys out high rails port injected 4 cylinders to 500 plus HP. And I was like wait a second? Then I started watching g banks too and I was like ohhh, ur actually trying to compress the air and the more heat the less that compression works. There’s actually the right amount of vaccume to pull all the air u need into the cylinder, u just need to make the best pathway there, the coolest as possible and port injection keeps them cool, as well as if u can maintain the rpm higher u can get linear increasss every 1000 rpms. And instead of having the air come in and slit into 8 places, u make it every two cylinders and u also design the intake manifold and arrange the timing so when a valve closes that air going into the closed rail bounces off and directs itself into an open valve. U have a better shot at making this happen when u pair up the cylinders and based on the firing order and timing u pair those specific ones. So the Valkyrie intake is a great example of this. There is 6 verticle rails on a v12. They are high and straight verticle but the inside of it has baffles that help bounce that air back and forth to the next valve opening. It’s like a ping pong ball sending air into the valve with extra pressure than the vaccume of the piston. U should see the customizing and special porting old timers do to 4 cylinder cosworth engines for the dirt drift racing cars. I forgot what their called but they look like go carts that can fly cuz the giant wing on the top of the cart. But y wanna see how to properly build a NA monster u start with a cosworth and watch those drift cart thingys motor guys. They port the shit by cylinder and totally alter the intakes. But they have extra ports they add in to measure cfm, vaccume and temp and they tune each cylinder individually. They’ll make it able to flow more fuel. They’ll increase the amount of fuel out of the injector they have pre set dies they make to drill in different angels that they know already ahead of time are needed to effect the flow. They will change the spread on the injector by plugging parts of the screen to make one side flow more fuel and a more direct path rather than it bouncing off of some side of the rail and taking longer to reach the valve. It’s crazy

Boost is a measure of restriction I hate when people talk about boost like its absolute. Airflow is what matters not boost pressure. A big block with big heads and cam pushing 10 psi would be flowing more air than a stock small block long block pushing 20 psi. That is why boost pressure doesn't matter. It's a measure of restriction.

@CoreyHosfordRacing

If I buy a LS3 and want to build it for boost or High Compression, I’m still going to have to spend money on piston, rods and crank head etc. I picked up the LS1 for 500$ out of a corvette. So I was able to build this well under a cost of a LS3.

@CoreyHosfordRacing So, is the block re-sleeved to get a 4"+ bore? I couldn't think of another way to get your displacement (LS3 bore 4.065")out of an LS1 block that can only be honed .004" on the 97-98 blocks due to poor casting position of the stock sleeves when they were poured, and no more the a .010" over-bore on all 99-later LS1/LS6 blocks.
@GoatPilot04
@GoatPilot04 Жыл бұрын
@@CoreyHosfordRacingAnd if it was sleeved, what sleeves did you install, and how much were your machining/install costs? I've considered doing this myself with an LS1/6 block or re-sleeving a 5.3 AL block because I have easy affordable access to either.
