Jeff your last video was so touching, I watched it with tears in my eyes. I couldn’t even type a comment.... I’m close to my dad and now I live in another state and I miss him. We talk at least three days a week, I’m sorry for your loss brother. When I first started my new job, I’m a heavy equipment mechanic, we had to lift a hefty pump onto a machine, One of my coworkers, says So come on... and we both said.. Let’s Gooooo!!! We knew what’s up!! We became instant brothers, it still makes me smile to this day.

Jeff, The story about your fathers passing I can relate to. My son Chris lost his fight with Covid 19 in June this year. Age 49 leaving his wife and 5 kids to figure it all out. Just killed my wife and I. So sad. I moved from California to NC 10 years ago. I planned to hit all the East Coast sights I have read about for years. My metal detector was tunes to get my share of the silver and gold doubloons on Florida's Treasure Coast as well as my share of the NC gold fields. Yup I was retired with all the time I needed to make all this happen. Then my back went out and 3 surgeries later I'm now pushing a wheelchair and have been for the past 6 years. Your videos as well as Forgotten and Abandoned Places have kept me sane. Thank you for all that you do. You have been a blessing to me. Sooooo Come on LETS GO!!!!!

I could bet my life savings that your pops was enjoying the view of that nugget from right over your shoulder, and how special was it that we got to see the wash plant in action like it was. That purdy woman of yours was workin' it like a BOSS. I lost my mother, mother in law, step mother, my two older brothers and my cousin, in last November. I felt so heart broken because covid and cancer wiped a quarter of my family out. The reason I started watching you Jeff is because you look so much like my brother. He was only 7 years older than I, and he passed away from covid and exactly a week later my mother passed. I just miss them all so much and me and my mother and brothers where very close. It's almost like a nightmare you can't awake from. My mother was a tough little lady and covid killed them. My mother inlaw passed also from covid. I try to keep myself busy but as you probably know it's hard early in the mornings or when your alone is when you think about them the most. As for your specimen gold, up there directly adjacent to the King Tut placer, I found some nuggets with my Dad using the Gold Buddy recirculating sluice. That whole area is full of CLAY, so most of the day was trying to break it up in the classifier, and raw hands the next day (protip: wear gloves). Anyway, found a couple of small nuggets in a quartz matrix and dropped them into a glass vial with water. Well what I thought was quartz dissolved in that water and the gold fell to the bottom, so I don't know if it was just held together by the silt and clay, or how quartz dissolved in water or what it really was (calcite??), but the takeaway is that you might not want to keep some specimens in water, assuming you do that. As for that area, what we were seeing was little stringer "veins", or old placers maybe from when the Colorado got dammed and ran down through there eons ago, probably filling up Red Lake. They'd run for an inch or two, you'd find what I thought was quartz but it's some kind of transparent clear crystal, and gold nuggets. You probably know the property I'm talking about just to the left of the old placer mill along that ridgeline.

thanks for the info and yes we know that area well..... could be calcite or even Caliche

Thanks, Jeff! Nice work! Really nice washplant setup you've got. There seems to be a general consensus for the name of the mine. "Wobble Pops". Have a great weekend!

That's an impressive rig you guys have put together - reflects having a LOT of experience in what you need to catch gold big and small. Glad to see you carrying on!!

In the 1700's Spanish miners and Fransiscan priests like Escalantes used the term "Paso por aqui" followed by a date whenever they reached a significant point after a dangerous journey or meaningful place. They would etch it in stone if it was too last like the one in Northern Arizona from Escalante and Dominguez group 1776. When you mentioned naming the drift after your father so that it includes "Pops" I thought "Pops Paso Por Aqui", or, PP-PA! Father passed this way, or came through here, would be the literal translation - but it carries deeper meaning, significant to a memory in time that was a powerful experience. You're father gave you many powerful experiences, which in turn gives us a taste of it through your guys videos, and you gave him many powerful experiences too. Or: _PopAu_ (poppa with gold's elemental name) _PopAu Lode_ _Pops Motherlode_ _Pops El Dorado_ _Pops Paydirt_ _Pops Diggins_ But my favorite of all, which would also draw reference to you, his son - *Pops Argonaut*, a term they used during the goldrush that meant a person in search of gold No matter what though, that's gonna be a special Drift
