UK rider here so I'm on the wrong side of the road, but the beauty of videos like these is that they are universal. The advice is solid and invaluable. I'm a relatively new rider and just thinking about things like lane position that you only get to learn on your own, after you've passed your test. Thanks and keep it up 👍

Very valuable content that I think the biker community (especially the sport bike community) need to see right now. With large channels promoting unhinged riding styles and the new season starting; newer riders will hopefully see this and hopefully learn some things and pick up on good riding habits. Hey even more experienced riders might learn a thing or two as well!

Full respect for showing people how to be a proper rider on the road. We all like fun but we also need to be respectful of other road users and our own lives. Too many youngsters trying to be “cool” is a recipe for an early grave.

This is what you MUST do if you want to trully master dense urban riding, at one point you need to acquire and ride for a while, wait for it, a fing scooter. Believe it or not you can push scoots WAY harder in really tight environment and it will boost your understanding of how gaps and flow work.

If you think everyone buys a bike to speed, you are wrong. Lots of us buy and ride bikes because we enjoy riding in the fresh air. The thrill of riding without a cage is enough without needing the adrenaline from going 100+ mph. The speeding is a youth thing for the most part, in my opinion. Yes, there are some people that refuse to grow up, or just enjoy speed, but in my years of riding, most of us that are out of our 30's and 40's are fine just cruising and enjoying the ride without needing the danger of speeding.

Great video. I do, however, disagree in your lane placement. For visuals reasons I would primarily use left half of my lane. Riding at right hides you from oncoming cars, especially if a car or truck is in front. Second, by riding right it is an invitation to others to pass

Here in spain you can filter in red lights, in fact were i live there is a reserved space for bikes so you can filter, is one of the big pros of having a bike, a travel inside madrid that can be 40-50 minutes in car can be 15 in a bike, I don’t really understand why you see filtering as something bad If traffic is not moving, when I was younger I used to filter in moving traffic, that’s what I consider irresponsible, but if the traffic is not moving I don’t see the danger

Fortunately for UK riders, we have a course called Bike Safe, run by the Police (when they're not chasing noobs on Hayabusa's of course). Here in London you go out for the day with a couple of plod on their bikes and get taught how to 'Make safe and constant progress' by filtering (lane splitting as you 'murican's call it) through the dense traffic of central London. I'm always shocked when I see in some states in the US that filtering is illegal. With the traffic in the UK it would be pointless to ride a bike if we couldn't filter.

How come US riders don't fully stop at stop signs? (11:17) I'm going my training in the UK and that would be an automatic fail on the test.
@fabianmckenna81974 ай бұрын
They normally do come to a complete stop since the police will use any failure to do so to initiate a stop...... Just depends on whether you get caught
@fabianmckenna81974 ай бұрын
Driving for a UK test involves doing everything correctly but once that's over you sometimes develop some bad habits. My American daughter lives in an area close to a large highway with several twin lane feeder roads. These are crossed by side roads which all have stop signs so getting out involves stopping at half a dozen stop signs to reach the main road. Son-in-law pointed out the police cruiser which regularly nabs offenders!

Driver at 18:15 is the sort that kind of irritates me when I'm on a bicycle. I've been riding on a road that has plenty of room to pass me, and I have literally had cars drive off the shoulder into the gravel, practically into the ditch, on the left, leaving me almost 2 full lanes of space. Dude. I mean I guess it's better than passing me with 6 inches of space, which I've also seen, but still kind of weird. I've concluded that a whole lot of drivers have NO ability to judge where the right (passenger) side of their car ends. There's a narrow bridge underpass (150 year old stone bridge built before cars existed) that actually has room for two cars to pass by one another, but many drivers stop and hold up until there's nobody coming the other way, then pull over to where there's maybe 2 feet of space to their left, and 6 to their right. Again, no idea where the right side of their car ends.
