The goal of this Hearthstone C'thun Hunter OTK combo deck is to use Maxima Blastenheimer combined with C'thun! We do this by playing Beckoner of Evil to buff our C'thun. Then, we play Maxima to pull the C'thun from our deck. This will cause C'thun to continue buffing 60 times over! Super fun meme deck! Good luck!

Lol, I was playing a game without paying much attention, just to complete a daily in wild as I usually do and while watching YGO videos on the side. When he played Beckoner of Evil I was like "what, C'thun in Hunter? No wonder it's Bronze 10". A few turns later I ended my turn, turned my attention to the second monitor, only to turn back and see Maxima on board and 128 damage on my face, imagine my surprise. 😂 From there, it took a bit a detective work to figure out wtf happened there.

It works with any cards that summon a minion from your deck such as Cowardly Grunt, Recruit, Commencement, Y'Shaarj.

@@krisnayosep7121 When you summon C’thun without playing him, the game freaks out. If you give C’thun +2/+2 then he is an 8/8 if played normally. However, when the game freaks out, it buffs him to an 8/8 but then thinks it needs to buff him again and again and again (60 times total giving him +120/+120 for a total of 128/128).

How does a bug like this even occur? The only possible explanation I can think of is that when C'Thun is pulled from deck straight onto the board, it checks for every single buff it could possibly have received from every single "buff your C'Thun" card, and then combining that with the fact that it knows it's going to die causes a stack overflow with the buffs and creates multiple false positives.

iirc there are 2 c'thuns in your deck, one is a separate token which collects the buffs and the other is the actual minion. I guess the devs didn't think this interaction and the hunter card pulls the token and not the actual card? or something idk

I'm more concerned about the number that C'thun stops 128/128 which is a typical computer number and the way it gets the buff, as if it's stuck in an endless loop but because I think, there is like a constant in C'thun's hp it stops there. Otherwise, I assume it would create a crash in the game, as we've seen many times from Marks' videos in the past.

Just like when you try to softlock the game, for example when a minion constantly attack until it die but he and his target are both invincible, the game doesn't allow an action to reoccur infinitely. For each interaction, there's a limit like 40 or 60 times in a row. Here, I just think the C'Thun (who's 8/8 when you pull it) get buff +2/+2 infinitely, but it eventually hit the limit so it's like 60 times +2/+2, making him 128/128 🧐

It's probably an infinite loop introduced by an inconsistency in what order C'Thun is supposed to check for buffs when it gets summoned by Maxima, which would lead to an infinite loop except they probably fit the stats into signed chars so it maxes out at 128 (2^7).

So a couple weird additions to this bug is that firstly. The c'thun will get the attack increase when pulled by your opponent as well (learned that the hard way when playing a hecklebot.). But also board based attack affects (leok from animal companion in this case) Added to c'thun's health not attack. I have no idea why but if people on this video who know more then me need more clues on what is causing it those could help.

But I know for a fact it wasn't always the case having had low stat c'thuns pulled by hecklebot before. As for the other interaction, Instead of c'thuns attack being buffed by board buffing cards like leok (where the card while on the board gives attack to other minions. Think flametounge totem). It is given health instead.

There are a lot of great people working for Hearthstone, and failure to distinguish between multiple dev teams (responsible for different games) is equivalent to spreading a nasty, unfounded rumor. Apologies for the long talk, but I felt that only one person correcting the misconception wasn’t enough, given the atrocious nature of the offenses in the lawsuit, and the team structure within Blizzard that allows different groups of people to make different games. Good people shouldn’t get their reputations hurt for working under the same umbrella of a large corporation as a corrupted segment and corrupt overall leadership.

Fun fact, you can do this with recruit and warrior and the new 6/2 summon a minion from your deck as well. You can also use the 7/9 to shuffle and buff the C’thun again. If you’re worried about drawing C’thun you can use DMH to shuffle it back!

I think of some possible reason for that: 1. the same minion in 2 location? if this is how summon work: randomly target a minion from deck minion_location add board minion_location delete deck // then before delete deck, there is a moment where the minion is in both the board and the deck. depends on how the global buffs on C Thun is coded, that may results in a loop of +2/+2 on C Thun in board -> +2/+2 on C Thun in deck -> … (30 rounds) on each C Thun’s location and give it extra +120/+120. 2. the simple mistake some codes in the instance are running again and again in the game, so if blizzard put check buffs on the C Thun (when summoned) it may keeps checking the buffs again and again until it meets the safety limit (at max 60 times)

i decided to try this deck out for myself and here were the results of the 4 games ive played so far, i only lost one every game ended before turn 7 (and one on turn 5 using coin) the game i lost, i drew cthun turn 6 because of nat the darkfisher (the enemy was an overdraw rogue) drawing me a second card which was cthun ruining the combo only one game did i actually take any damage and it was because of a shadow priest

@@thor2823 yeah ive played a few more games after that initial play session and i tend to win every other game something like a 2/3 chance of winning, which makes sense considering you tend to draw a third of your deck by turn 6 and if cthun is in that first third then you just lose. i only played 2 games where i was not able to draw the combo and win, or cthun and lose. one of which lasted to around turn 8-9 where i was killed by a questline warlock after failing to draw any combo pieces or combo draw. the other one lasted to around turn 15 as i only had 10 cards left in my deck and of those last 10, 5 were both my master's calls, maxima, cthun, and a tracking which lead to me losing against a big res priest. this combo is scarily consistent and if you added the card that reads "if cthun died this game, shuffle another into your deck" then you could win games that you would otherwise lose by drawing cthun, but i dont have that card.

I have a theory of how this bug occurs The cthun buff cards cast a buff on every possible cthun places, 60 possible places in the deck, then the board and the hand So when it gets summoned it checkes all the possible buffs it could have received and buffs accordingly 60+ times

@@fennecbesixdouze1794 Minion stats aren't limited at 128, they're limited at 2.147 billion, after which they roll over to 0. There are still however a lot of mechanics in HS that cap out at either 30 or 60, Defile for example will only ever trigger 30 times, even if it could go longer. Yogg's Rod of Roasting will fire (up to) 60 times, if both heroes somehow survive that long. Both Yogg's Random spells cap out at 30 spells. Shudderwock also only uses up to 30 battlecries. They put that limit in place so things don't go completely infinite, since the game isn't great at handling that. And it would certainly take a while for C'thun to scale up to 2.147 billion attack. It took about 4 seconds to gain a total of 122 attack, so to get to the upper limit of 2.147 Billion... it would take about 828. Days.

What's the bug even doing? It's like C'Thun is trying to 'fire' itself. It's gaining 120 stats from its base of 8 with the buff. Is it triggering a self-buff of 8, but 15 times? Is it buffing itself by 6, 20 times? Wait, if it triggers 20 times, then doubles itself, you get 40, and if you divide 120 by 40... HALF LIFE 3 CONFIRMED. IT'S CONFIRMED, GUYS!

@@oskark7676 For one it is another minion completely ruining the Maxima Consistency, and keep in mind you would need to not only survive to turn 10, play a 10-mana 8/8, have it survive, and then play a banker. In the current meta you might not even live to see turn 6, much less turn 11 while passing on 10.
