Bad bad optics, especially from a team owned by a guy linked to alleged sexually inappropriate behaviour.

100%, very bad optics. Glad I'm not an Oilers fan 😟

RIP Saddledome. What replaces you may be bigger and modern, but it wont have the soul and the memories of many legendary NHL games. If hockey was divided into 'ages' like the old comic books ,I would call this age 'The Rust Age'

I have yet to see a game in the Saddledome, but I think I'll try to make it out before the new arena opens, just to get that old time experience. I'll always think of the 2004 run when I think of the Saddledome and how it looked so insane in there during that playoff run.

I hope they rekindle the offense from 2022-2023 and UPL 2023-2024 season we'd have a pretty good run this season.

Agreed! Would love to see Buffalo have some success this season, and maybe even get back into the playoffs. Here's for hoping! 🤞

The Trinity of God, the Father, the Son, and the Spirit have told me Oilers will not make the Stanley Cup Finals. I can see it now. Oilers incredibly frustrated making yet another good run, but because Bowman was the GM they fail morally to secure a Stanley Cup. How to solve this problem? Get rid of Bowman now. Players look back on how they could have fired Bowman, but Jackson is not as bright as some of you think.
@ClutchGrabHockey
@ClutchGrabHockey Ай бұрын
Preach it! Haha. Yeah, Bowman needs to go, Mike Babcock style.. before he's even made a single move or made any impact on the team.

Unfortunately the "god of this world" will be pleased with the Oilers decision. But, the players have free will. Will Leon or Conner take a stand and go elsewhere to voice their disapproval of this outrageous decision?? Probably the only thing Edmonton Management would listen to.😥

They don't seem the type to speak out and disapprove of something management does, but who knows. I would support it if they did. Here's for hoping!

@@danielzerbe8567 We are body, soul and spirit. Our soul has the functions of mind, will and emotion. Our spirit has the functions of intuition, communion and conscience. Bowman does not have a strong spirit so Oilers will fail miserably.

What did Bowman do that was "unforgivable"? He was present when his boss was informed of the Beach situation. The boss told all present at that meeting that he would take care of the situation.
@ClutchGrabHockey

General Manager is one of the highest positions within the organization. Only president and owner would be ahead of him. If any of them, including Bowman, had any morals, they could have spoken out and said "this is wrong". "Nothing is more important than our players' safety and this needs to be dealt with now." And again, same thing after the playoffs were over and they got their cup, any one of them could have done the same thing. But they all decided to cover it up. THAT is what is unforgivable. And the video coach ended up assaulting others, including a minor.

@burts3781 Ай бұрын
@@ClutchGrabHockey Yes. The president of the Blackhawks is the boss I was referring to. Read the Jenner & Block report. Your moralizing doesn't bear out the facts of the situation. That much is obvious.

These were the only excerpts I could find that were particularly useful to this discussion: "The confidant recalled that he told Bowman or MacIsaac that there was an incident with Aldrich, it was of a “disgusting s**ual variety,” and John Doe was a “mess.” The confidant stated that Bowman or MacIsaac told him that they would look into the information the confidant shared and “handle it.” Bowman and MacIsaac stated in interviews that they did not recall speaking to the confidant about Aldrich at any time, although Bowman stated that it is possible he spoke to the confidant about Aldrich and has no memory of it." "Bowman recalled a statement by McDonough, the most senior member of management in the room, that he would handle the situation. Regardless of who was, or was perceived to be, responsible for handling the situation, Aldrich continued to travel and work with the team, and participate in team activities throughout the playoffs. We found no evidence that any action was taken to address the issue until after the playoffs ended." Nowhere does it say that Bowman spoke out about this and was shut down by his boss. Nowhere does it say that Bowman wanted to go to the police or Blackhawks HR. All I see here is Bowman and everyone else were willing to keep quiet about the matter until after the playoffs.

Bowman has 3 cup rings & will have 4 soon. He is an experienced GM. Too many haters on the OILERS... There is no excuse for sexual abuse but ownership of the Blackhawks is at fault for this one as well as the NHL for not having a 1800 number to protect the PLAYERS !!!
@ClutchGrabHockey
@ClutchGrabHockey 10 күн бұрын
Can't speak for other people, but for me, the hate is not because of the Oilers. I would have been mad that any team hired him. As for the SA debate, the ownership excuse is weak. He could have at any point stood up and said 'no, this is wrong and needs to be reported' and he didn't do that. He just shrugged it off like the rest of them and let an abuser go off and abuse more people. It's unacceptable and he shouldn't have been given a second chance.

I know we live in cancel culture these days...while bowman was neglectful in his duties he also has seeked out help and has vowed to be more diligent in his work edmonton....and to top it off I'm a flames fan...but it's kinda refreshing that we are trying to reinvest rather than outright cancel the guy

I'm all for giving people a second chance and, as you put it, reinvesting in people. However, when you cover up S.A., that's where I draw the line. That said, I respect your opinion and obviously the NHL and many people within the league agree with you. I personally just can't get past the Beach stuff.

I'm so done with this gong show of a league. Just an old boys' club. Buddy said Kyle Beach was okay with it, but crickets from one of two people who actually mattered. Just done with this league, taking my entertainment dollars elsewhere.

Yeah it's super frustrating, and totally an old boys club. Sadly, I just love hockey too much to stop being a fan. But I definitely won't be cheering for the Oilers so long as this guy is on the payroll.
