I've got the MG300, it's freakin amazing. 100 pedals in one, downloadable patches, great looper and drum tracks, pc software, literally 1000s of usuable guitar tones. Also, you can plug your headphones stright in and play without needing an amp, perfect for travel. I sold most of my gear after getting this. Wish i had it in the 90s.

Really. There's nothing really new under the sun. The DigiTech 2120 artist was great. With a mosvalve by tuber works power amp. I found that a solid state.power amp was better for that unit. Than a tube one. Killer tones out of that one. It had 12ax7 tubes in the processor. And fed back just perfectly. When I just pressed on a chord. Just right. Like a tube amp. And it was stereo... It was way cheaper than an eventide h ,3000

I just bought the used nux mg 100.. just to see the tsac circuitry. This one is just newer and improved. I bought the 100 for 40 bucks. And honestly that piece of gear straight into my Blackstar ht-40 clean channel. Just to hear what the circuit was like. And it was the best 4o bucks I ever spent in my life. And u can't even pick amps or pedals on this one and it totally kick ass for the older version as well. .. now I must get the nux mg 400. Because of the 100 gets my stratocaster tones that sometimes amps just miss. This unit made me love my stratocaster all over again.. and nownwith this unit. U don't need any more pedals at all anymore. And even in a P.A direct. It's phenomenal. And super cheap. It's a must buy. Seriously it is. And also he Harley benton sg DC custom three pickup in antique white for 178 and this unit together. I need to get both of these pieces of gear in my arsenal now .. and the price. Is just unreal. Unbelievably cheap for the processor circuitry. It's a must buy

Such a great review, Rob. You hit the nail on the head. I just bought the NUX Mighty Plug Pro. It sounds so much better than I imagined. Now I really want the MB400 because my MPP sounds better than my pedal collection, especially considering everything that can go wrong with plugs and cables. NUX modeled sounds nearly real, which is more than can say about any other manufacturer I have tried.

That NUX unit looks/sounds even more convenient. Especially for the price. Just wish it did dual amp paths, as that's kind of become my thing as of late! Great review Rob! Cheers!

I think that most of the people who buy one of these will sell at least some of their other pedals. IT'S A GAME-CHANGER AND THE GEAR NO-BRAINER OF 2022-23. If you want the long version... AND! -- The tuner is not one of those fiddly ones that hear all the harmonics and jump around - it's rock solid - and it's adjustable to Earth Harmonic Concert 432. AND! -- the EQ! It's TEN BAND! Lots of room for presets. How much do those 10-band EQs with 4 presets cost? Umm, right... You can put it's 10-band EQ before an amp to make it hit the gain in a more pleasing way, or you can put it after a compressor for a bass guitar with deep lows that are rich and clear but with trips up the neck that are lilting enough to be parenthetical gestures. "Tele need a little more low end at the bridge? No problem. Neck p-90 a little too rich? No problem. Humbucker lacks crispness... well... you're stuck there, the cancelling harmonics of the adjacent coils can't be undone... anyways... AND! -- the M-D45 acoustic sim is pretty convincing (having that ten band EQ is critical here to adjust for different pickups - it's not going to replace a high-end Taylor, and if you accidentally hit the pickup selector the illusion vanishes, but it's the first one I've heard that is actually useable). AND! -- the Morning Star is one of the available pedals - leave the guitar volume where it is - go from clean flamenco to gritty blues just by playing harder - that's right, a multi-effect pedal can now do that as well as the industry standard solo pedal. I'll go further than that. In comparison to every other (non-super-boutique) pedal of it's type and most amps that are known for gradual breakup, it shines by comparison because of it's controllability and expressiveness. (It's hard to beat the 1965 Vox Berkeley Super Reverb, but...) Compared to most, the grain is much finer and the break-up is more gradual. I have a Blues Driver, and a very nice amp, and this is so much better. Sorry pedal snobs, after playing through the Morning Star, everything else seems to jump in too quickly, and unexpectedly, and with too much coarse grit at the beginning of the break-up. AND! -- T Screamer with the Uber Higain - or - DIE VH4 with a Hall verb - super heavy, check, soarable, check. Need for tweed? Remember that little amp at the pawn shop that you played for an hour and regret not buying? Got it. Not just kinda got it, I mean got it. Turn off one speaker, close your eyes, and it's sitting there on your desk. I could go on, but... AND! -- It just sounds musical. If you've heard the huge and heavy-as-a-guitar Vox multi-effect with a tube and two pedals, it has similar richness and chime. The ping-pong stereo delay could have 10 or 12 finer gradations at the shorter times for use as a subtle thickener. Nothing is absolutely perfect. But, I haven't used anything else in my little studio since I plugged it in. I've owned about a dozen multi-effects (some very nice and expensive ones with tubes). I played along with "Quad Cortex vs Kemper vs Helix - A Quick Blindfold Tone Comparison", and the MG-400 should have been there. It doesn't just cover the bases - this amp-ish, that compressor-ish, this cab-ish, etc., instead, it does it WELL, like the big kids. It's easy to use but still very satisfying for a studio engineer who wants lots of controls to tweak. With the exception of fast ping-pong, I haven't run into any other "Oh, it doesn't do that..." I only play in the studio nowadays, so others will have to let us know how it does gigging. In the studio, I play through either Mackie MR3's or an Alesis RA500 with monitor two's. Also, I rarely use verb in tracking (editing complications), but the spring, hall, and plate sound right and have the controls you would expect. As you might guess, I recommend the MG-400 unreservedly. Outstanding!

Nice one!! That really sounds very good. I in the end I went for the AMT Bricks as these solid state things tend to be super 'sharp'. A bit like vinyl vs CDs. But that was before Putin started his crap, as they are made in Russia, now they are a bit trickier to get and not cheap. I'm super lucky I took the plunge before that!!

I had a Nux MG30 it was decent for the money but the reverbs were quite lacking and even with my own IR's I just didn't gel with the unit. I used it in the front end of a Fender, in the Fx loop and through an Headrush 108 frfr cab but it just seemed to lack that amp and pedals sound regardless of how I used it. The other thing was dialing in the levels and tone for patches so that they were even volumes and then eq'ing them for different setups. I spent more time doing that than playing. I think lower end units like these are great but for a gigging musician or a professional musician you'd really need to go the Helix, New Fractal stuff, Neural DSP QC or the more recent Boss units. I'd easy say that extra cash is worth the money if you can afford it. In the end I sold the MG30 and the Headrush 108 and put together a pedalboard with a mix of Boss, Laney and TC pedals straight into the front end of my Fender. It's much more immediate and sounds very analog.

Rob, nice one man.. I am constantly astounded by NU-X. Yep, like you I love amps and pedals.. But im including digital too. I have the NU-X amp academy. It has some great amp sounds and impulse response. Heres how I use it: I use the amp academy XLR output into my Audio interface / monitors for recording with impulse response ON and the standard output simultaneously, (impulse response OFF) into a 100 watt power amp and 2 x 12 Celestion V30 cabinet. I prefer thus setup to the return on a valve amp... I use proper chorus and a delay pedals. In the amp academy fx loop. The amp academy has its own reverb... For gigs it's just the amp academy 2 pedals, power amp and 2 x 12..does the job for me...
