Maxace does amazing work and has some great designs in their catalog, always keep an eye out for their models and they are usually large too!

@@RepEvox actually had to get a replacement pivot for my Babylon and had it in 2 weeks, just about on par with domestic companies I've dealt with in my experience.

Agreed - with that design capability and level of milling they could really make a nice sleek but detailed handle with less robotech. Great review!

If Marfione did an OTF equally as complicated as that he’d put a mirror polish on the blade and charge 5K for it. That would be on the lower end too.

Maxace just dropped a Timascus/Damascus variation for $718. Tony Sr would charge $10k. 😂

I love that Maxace. It's just Star Warsy enough for me, not to mention the quality. I'm not necessarily a fan of the glass breakers but I understand why. I have beaten the crap out of my Boker Kwaiken OTF ( no glass breaker) and it's still goin strong, however the it is NOT in the same class as the Maxace.
@JesseLJohnson2 жыл бұрын
Some of the Bokers are actually made by Hogue. Not the Kwaiken though but some of their OTFs and autos are Hogue produced here in the US

Absolutely agree, I'm over the "side of a spaceship" styling on a lot of knives that are intended more for self-defence. I mean, they have their place, but the market is over-saturated with that stuff. The Protech Godfather/Godson series are a great example of a more classy style of automatic knife. I'd like to see more of that from other brands.

I got the new Prometheus Design Werx OTF today. Don't think it was listed who made them or even where they were made but it was pretty cool. I have a thing for clip points and it was pretty reasonable think they were $289. I am not that crazy for OTFs think I have 5 haven't bought one in a while now. When I saw them teased the other day though I had to get this PDW

Is OTF the same thing as the term switchblade? Or is a switchblade something else?
@metal_complex2 жыл бұрын
OTF refers to where the blade deploys from (out the front) - But an automatic OTF is a switchblade. So in this case, yes.

Switchblades fly out the side with a Benjamin button and otf s shoot out the front and retract with the slide switch . Some otf s have a safety mechanism that prohibits opening into something . They come off track . Knockoffs are on Amazon for $40 . Prob not like these but they do in fact work like these 👍👍.
@metal_complex2 жыл бұрын
No... an otf can absolutely be a switchblade. The term "switchblade" is not limited to side openers.

@RW2Knaf2 жыл бұрын
Is Cobratec a US Mfg.? No, they might put a bunch of parts together in Texas. I can almost guarantee that every individual component of those “US made” OTFs are made and machined in a different country. From the blade to the handle scales to the screws. Probably pre machined in China, shipped to Texas and then assembled.
@metal_complex2 жыл бұрын
This is kind of common knowledge
@RW2Knaf2 жыл бұрын
@@metal_complex I just learned about this. I wish some companies were more open about it. I like my kalashnikov, but I thought it was a US made OTF, with Cobratec being the OEM. Every time I said it was US made, I’d get funny looks or something. Now I feel like an idiot lol. False advertising, man.

I ordered myself one of the Night Stalkers (the No Limit version) from Tensor Tactical. It appears to be almost identical to this one with CF inlay instead of titanium. It is on sale, plus first time order discount, it was only $179 shipped. If you haven't checked one out, HMU on your patreon and i'll send it to ya when it arrives (Same name there as here).

I don't know if they have sold out yet or not but Prometheus Design Werx just dropped their first OTF today. I bought myself one. Not gonna see many out there sure there wasn't many available and they have never had an OTF before. I think some retailers might get some in too if PDW is out. This Maxace is something you won't see hardly any of since you probably have to buy it and have it shipped from China. Not gonna find any major retailers here in the US selling them

I've got an Benchmade Infidel that looks like it was run over by a truck. Also, some type of Benchmade switchblade. At one time it had some type of black, or gray coating now most is rubbed off. The blade doesn't come out at the speed of light, but it does hit hard. I found them in the trunk of an unclaimed wrecked car. Which was smashed flat just a little later. Does anyone know of a reliable company that does that kind of work. Benchmade said that they were so far behind that I should remind them in a year.

Who makes this knife for MaxAce? I thought automatic knives legally sold in the US had to be at least assembled in the US. Was I misinformed on this? If I am not wrong about it then you are in possession of and are making a video of an illegal knife. There are so many different rules on automatic knives it is hard to keep track.

Ehhh... that's extremely debatable. I mean they build GOOD knives for less because they're made in China... but better? I disagree. And I've reviewed almost everything each brand has to offer.
