As a Ren fan this video actually made me feel less aggressive towards Kujo. Ren doesn't need protection, he's got this. The teaser of a part 2 is enough that if Kujo kept at it, yay for us and if not, he can just disappear quietly. Either works.

Supporting someone often just means listening to them & empowering them to sort the situation out for themselves vs going after the person who hurt them. I have always felt like i just wanted to wrap Ren up & make sure he's safe & well but that doesn't mean I'm about to run around just abusing Kujo & his associates cos that's not my place. Ren has it well in hand, clearly. I understand though how this kinda had to be a cathartic release & good on him. No one will mess with him again & i feel like no one will want to work with Kujo again so job well done.

I'm so glad you did a reaction for this. You are so eloquent in your words and you nail it perfectly on why this situation has frustrated so many artists and fans for Ren. He puts everything into his art and that makes it more than just music to all of us. Knowing that one of his iconic songs that meant so much to so many was illegally (its illegal to use a copyright strike for non copyright complaints) taken down as a negotiation tactic (kujo's words) and ultimately completely removed by Ren so he couldn't have it used against him anymore has boiled a lot of people's blood. This song is pure catharsis, for Ren and for all of us.

Thank you. There are so many layers to this grand production! Ren is a genius, an alchemist who turns his life experiences into great art for us to enjoy and hopefully learn from. He understands the power of channeling great emotions into something intentionally stirring and inviting catharsis. With superpower talents and finely honed skills, Ren makes us feel tension and he gives us relief. I believe Kujo Beat Down is indeed a masterpiece! Thank you so much for supporting Ren, the phenomenal human being we so dearly love 💜

Kujo Beats is a producer that sold Ren a beat that he used for a song called Sick Boi. Kujo had a sample that wasn't cleared in the beat and didn't tell Ren. The original copyright holder got a hold of Ren's team. Meanwhile, the publishing house that pays out the publishing royalties neglected to register Kujo, so he wasn't getting paid. However, Ren's team had done everything they were supposed to. Furthermore Ren tried everything to solve the problem amicably. He even offered Kujo to do a song tohether and split the earnings 50/50, but Kujo rejected. Kujo decided to do an illegal copyright strike against the song to use as leverage to try to force Ren to renegotiate the terms so that Kujo would earn more money since Ren's song was doing very well. Ren decided to take the song down himself. Kujo and his girlfriend have been telling demonstrable lies on the Internet to also pressure Ren. Kujos girlfriend even posted something like she'll break Ren's kneecaps. Ren has a video where he shows all the contracts, the DMs, the emails.

The theatricality in his performance and the orchestral scoring of it make it feel like art, not war. He met with the head of KZbin Music today to talk about the issues for creators and fans, so as always with Ren he isn't just complaining he is trying to make things better for everyone else too. And consequently, Sick Boi is back on yt for the time being!

There's a huge difference between Ren airing his anger in an artistic way and fans harassing kujo in the comments. One is okay under artistic license, the other is plain bullying.

Thanks so much Chase! I still remember your early reactiobs to Hi Ren and other Ren creations. I salute your response. Ten woukd much rathet celebrate conflict resolution but he has been put through hell fir 2 months and ended remiving Suck Boi altogether rather yhan succumb to extortion like tactics. He will remake Sick Boi and release on album anniversary oct 13th.

Thank you for supporting our friend, Ren. This was video was an amazing experience. Its beautifully shot “horror film” with a very intense musical score. The crazy beat and change ups are a rollercoaster “cardio workout” (thank you for that perfect observation!). This Beat Down track was incredibly cathartic for me. I realized it speaks to my own inner need to hold some people accountable and make them listen and hear my pain. Ah, my vicarious victory. Thanks for that Ren! Did you notice the “red tape” he used tape “Kai/Kugo’s mouth? The flicker that swapped the pig mask man (Greed) for Kujo, then it flickered and it’s Ren tied to the chair. Conflict exacts a cost from everyone involved. Ren is a master of details and hidden meanings. This is an excellent reaction. Thank you for your calm clarity and insight. I’m glad I found your channel. Subscribing …. ☮️

Imagine you buy a painting. Then the artist dies, becomes more popular, whatever… and the value SKYROCKETS. The seller comes to you and wants MORE MONEY from you even tho the transaction is well over. THEN you find out that the seller STOLE IT in the first place and had no right to sell it as his own. Seller gets arrested and wants YOU to bail him out… while STILL demanding the extra money. Then sends someone to your house to steal the painting back… all the while demanding payment and bail money in order for you to get it back. . That’s kinda like what happened. Absolutely bizarre and not at all how ANYTHING works. Add outright lies, defamation, threats, emotional manipulation, gaslighting… and you’re close to what went down. What that loose analogy doesn’t cover is the immense amount of generosity Ren displayed to try to get this resolved amicably and WITHOUT going public Over and over. Frankly, he offered way more generosity than was deserved. Way way, way more. And they spit in his face every time, then turned around, played the victim card and tried to destroy his reputation and his livelihood. Both of them damn well earned their spot in those chairs. Great reaction. Thanks for supporting Ren! ☮️♥️

Cardio? Haha, it's practically HIIT ; ) I love the way Ren never lets you 'get comfortable' in the track. The dynamic swings force you to sit up and pay attention... even pauses are used, masterfully, to build tension. Switch ups, multiple flow changes, etc... it's always meticulously designed to be engaging AF, whatever the topic. I don't know if you've listened to the instrumental edit of this track... but it's like a cinematic score worthy of Hans Zimmer, John Williams or the late Ennio Morricone. The fact that THIS much care and creativity went into what is, effectively, an angry 'diss track' shows that Ren has approached this project with the same love for the art that pervades everything he does. This track, despite the turbulent circumstances, somehow remains a thing of sublime beauty. I strongly recommend checking out the instrumental edit sometime.

This video and song helped me to process my own anger because Sick Boi resonates with me as does most of Ren's music and I've come to care about Ren as a human even tho I don't know him personally, because he is so genuine and he doesn't just try to project a certain public image, he actually stands on what he talks about and what his art is based around and he isn't scared of being honest and vulnerable 🔥🔥🔥💙💙💙💥💥💥

Spot on with how much Ren puts into his work. And you can understand the visceral reaction to Kujo Beats' copyright striking Sick Boi under false pretense. Fortunately, KZbin is now siding with Ren, but the question remains is if KZbin will punish Kujo Beats to prevent others from exploiting copyright strikes in this manner.

Like other people here, I found this video cathartic. It took some of the heat out of the situation and that seems to have been its purpose for Ren. I was very struck with the visual context of this video. It does everything it can to distance itself from real life. The space is set out like a theatre. The pillars at the side look like a proscenium arch and the lighting creates a theatre space, focusing everything into a circle centre stage. The action within this space and the figures in the background (the 'choir') are posed and sytlised. Joe at the beginning stands in a formally classical pose. The figure of Ren raging in the opening is symetrically and unrealistically organised. When sitting on the floor he strikes some very statuesque poses.When the choir flashes into view, they are each standing on a block like statues on pedestals. The slain 'choir are formally arranged and the whole thing is very spare and classical. It almost has the feel of a Greek Drama, an act of catharsis. In a Ren video I doubt that any of this is accidental.

PS - It looks like the pendulum is swinging back towards the light for the song Sick Boi per a post just a little bit ago from Ren. YT has reuploaded Sick Boi and taken off the copy right strike as they determined there was no legal grounds to copy right strike it. 💙💙💙
