I wish there was a dojo that wasn't 400+ miles away. I would train Kudo in a heartbeat. The headgear takes away the prospect of cuts from elbows, fists, and headbutts. The rule set allows the ability to test your martial skills in the closest thing to a street fight, without undue risk of serious injury, or legal consequences. This is awesome.
@JustinGild5 жыл бұрын
This is pretty awesome. While MMA favors the wrestler in the takedown department, a strong Judoka would have a big advantage in Kudo. I know Kudo is it's own sport with it's own set of rules and that's great but I would love to see a version without the astronaut headgear. The safety net allows the fighters to be wild and reckless and while that's fun, it doesn't make for the best fight. Without the headgear, you would see a much more tactical, skilled (not that these fighters are unskilled) battle. Fighters would have to respect their opponents power while tightening up their defense and game planning accordingly. If punches to the head during newaza were allowed you would see less risky throws and wild kicks that could put a fighter in a disadvantageous position. Also having strikes during newaza would force the fighters to become better overall grapplers. It's kind of like playing no limit hold'em for very low stakes. Overall still a great sport.

@@tauhid9983 First off, I'm talking about what's going on @5:28, 5:52, 6:04, and 6:30. Secondly, you know what a fighter who refuses to get cut has in common with a swimmer who refuses to get wet? They both won't ever be taken seriously. If the fighters, the league, and their fans want the sport to be respected as the finest of their breed on an international level; they have to meet or exceed the expectations of other fighters at that level! Participants in Muay Thai don't wear headgear, WBO, WBA, WBC, and IBF fighters don't wear headgear, nor do those in UFC and Bellator. Even Olympic boxers stopped wearing headgear after doctors realized they increase the chances of getting a concussion. But you know who does wear helmets? Besides my 6 year old's TKD class, athletes such as football players, hockey players, alpine skiers, and racecar drivers wear helmets because getting hit in the head is NOT part of the game, but it could happen accidentally. My point is: if getting hit in the head is not only expected, but is an integral part of the sport... then do it professionally!
