Not true on that last part most people our go into Kudo likes to train mms without and likes the "Budo" form of the martial bc mma truly isn't appealing to them. Mainly bc they know getting face smashed in or smashing someone face in (without them having no way to defend themselves) was not rewarding for the damage it caused am most of them like the helmet bc of that. There is a KZbinr named Kudoaist or Kudoist something like that who made a video titled "what is Kudo and why you should do it. Check it out bc he went in great detail why many like to stay in Kudo and why they see it as the only ima style they like to train.

Another thing that make Kudo different from Mixed Martial Arts competitions in the West is that the useage of the gi. In MMA we see fighters get sweaty, which affect grappling and clinching alot but Kudo has the gi. The gi reinforced both grappling aspect and changed striking inside the clinch completely, off balance became way easier
@MartialArtsTechniquesideas2 жыл бұрын
Yeah the GI is the BIG difference. Traditionnals BJJ players and Judokas would be far more efficient here than in MMA or even Sambo (even tho Sambo has a part of the Gi). No need for them to train in no GI were they would be surely less skilled. I would add that the fact that they have the head gear is another great addition. It allows them to use headbutt and to go wild on the striking. Even for karatekas (especially Kyokushin and Shotokan fighters). They would seek a greater challenge here than in Karate Combat for exemple which is just very low level kickboxing or even Kyokushin competition which don’t allow head strike.
@Reypstraptor42692 жыл бұрын
@@MartialArtsTechniquesideas Kyokushin allows head kicks.They dont allow head punches however, but you can kick someones head of the shoulders which is always been bizzare to me ,what is the logic behind that rule, so i stopped doing Kyokushin because of that , it was just too stupid.I saw in the olympics in karate that one guy who got disqualified for a legal strike that knocked out hes opponent because allegedly it was with power(they call it exessive contact wtf) , but we see in the replay it wasnt really a power kick the other guy just moved into the kick.Bizzare rulesets like this make traditional martial arts look like a joke.

I have dedicated myself to training in Kudo for the past six months, and I must say it's been an incredible experience. Kudo can best be described as a fusion of MMA and traditional martial arts, with the added element of training in a Gi. It incorporates disciplines like Karate, Judo, BJJ, and a wide range of other martial arts techniques, making it a comprehensive and dynamic practice. What stands out to me the most about Kudo is its unwavering emphasis on safety. Throughout my training, I have felt secure and protected, knowing that the focus is on fostering a safe environment. Yet, despite its modern approach, Kudo manages to maintain a strong connection to the traditional roots of martial arts. Engaging in Kudo evokes a sense of participating in a time-honored martial art form. While striking a grounded opponent is restricted during our training sessions, it's interesting to note that Kudo championships have certain conditions under which such techniques are allowed. This showcases the adaptability and practicality of Kudo as a combat sport, catering to different scenarios and situations. In essence, Kudo can be recognized as an MMA style that beautifully integrates the use of a Gi. It captures the essence of both modern and traditional martial arts, offering a well-rounded and thrilling training experience.

i think headbutts are usually most useful in a grappling scenario, like you'd see in some of the old UFC's, grapplers often using them for ground and pound while both hands restrain the opponent. it makes sense considering how often you get 'accidentally' headbutted during wrestling. they fit ok into striking as well but that's usually if you're doing it holyfield style, swinging your head as you punch, or Duran style, doing them in conjunction with very close range punches and clinching.
