In DnD, most magic has a number of times per day restriction. The game usually measures energy output in Spell Slots. Basically it's how many times you can cast spells of each level, 0-9. Lvl 0 spells (cantrips) have no per day restriction, but the others cost Spell Slots. Other magical abilities aren't part of the spell slot system, but they usually still have the times per day limit. Keyleth uses the druid ability Wildshape to transform, 2/day. Scanlan uses the spell Polymorph to transform, which costs a lvl 4 spell slot and changes his intelligence level to whatever creature he turns into. (Yes, it can backfire) There are also other 'at-will' abilities besides cantrips that cost no energy, but mostly just Warlocks get those.

Watching this happen in the d&d show was the thing that hooked me into watching the whole thing. Im so glad they managed to animate it so well to bring it to life this way. It for sure packs a punch emotionally

Not only did I cry here, but wait for the start of the next episode... (or since I'm late to see this one, I hope you survived it!)

Goliaths don't grow facial hair. Grog is the only one on the planet with a beard! In the game, it was a Belt of the Dwarvenkind -- it bumps up your Constitution and enables you to read/write Dwarvish if you can read or write...sorry, Grog.

it was very literally unexpected on stream. Percy's players described himself gently taking the armor even as Vex's player asked to search for traps - he made a saving throw to avoid the burst of death energy, and Vex rolled a 1. It's another scene worth checking out the comparison to the stream. Oddly enough, Keyleth did wildshape to investigate the exterior of the sunken tomb in game, but this Keyleth is still so unsure of her power.

Vax's VA always breaks everyone's hearts at the end of this episode. To answer your question, Vex was the younger twin by about 2 minutes.

When this happened in the stream, Vax's player was in the process of losing his mother. The grief and helplessness in his voice for this whole event are entirely real. Seems to be the secret to acting/RPing real sorrow - tap into a little bit of what you've been keeping at arm's length, from the ones you've lost. It's *wrenching*.

So yes, Keyleth has a certain amount of times she can change into an animal. Even though the animated series might not follow all the Dungeons and Dragons rules exactly as they were written, it is based off the real playing of a Dungeons and Dragons game.

Kelith can only transform twice per rest and can't cast spells while she's an animal/elemental. Im betting they just dont have her transform as much because its more animation work.
@kieranshae3 ай бұрын
Can she also only transform into certain types of animals?
@josephramirez64143 ай бұрын
Ya so as a player levels they can turn into stronger and stronger animals. They also have to have seen the animal at some point.

@@kieranshae Anything you've seen that falls under the category 'Beast' in the rulebooks, so most of what we'd consider 'mundane' animals - and the occasional dinosaur, depending on the setting.
