This is actually not the first time we are visiting a new continent in the show. We began the show in Tal'dorei. That's where Emon and Whitestone is, as well as Westruun which is where Grog fought Kevdak in season 2. In season 2 we also visited Issylra, which is where Vasselheim, Pyrah, as well as the sphinx's lair is located. And now we just visited Marquet. So we have been to three continents in the show so far at this point.

Just to clairfy, Percy invented guns. However, when we first met Ripley in season 1, she had a weird, messed up prototype of a gun in her bag, which is now the one that Percy uses after Scanlan threw his Pepperbox into the acid at the end of the season. That's why Ripley made that comment about ''Perfecting her prototype''

When we met Dr. Anna Ripley in season 1, she was missing a hand, and in her bag Percy found a blown-up four-barrel gun. The implication was that Ripley had tried to copy his invention before, and had blown off her own hand. At the end of the season, after Percy's original six-shooter (named "The List" in the campaign) was destroyed, we can see him working on Ripley's broken gun prototype. He's shown using the finished version (named "Retort" in the campaign) in season 2. I _believe_ that the Retort was described as being closer to a modern revolver, with a single, fixed barrel and four rotating chambers. Also in season 2, we saw that Ripley had replaced her hand with a mechanical one, and she worked together with Umbrasyl (the acid dragon) for a while. Now we find out that she continued her work on copying Percy's invention of handheld firearms, and apparently allied with Orthax. Marquet is the _third_ continent that Vox Machina visits in this show. They went to the northern continent Issylra, last season, where Vasselheim and Pyrah are located. Also a new location was added to Issylra for the show: the Rimecleft, where they met the male sphinx Kamaljiori. This replaced the Frostweald (which is on Tal'Dorei) from the campaign, in order to cut the amount of continent-hopping the group does. The design of Ank'Harel was indeed based on northern Africa and the middle east.

They definitely made it work. I know there are some loud upset fans but I've loved the changes. They make sense for TV. Trying to make DnD rules make sense for TV would be a difficult task.

In the intro with Vax’s infiltration, it’s fun because fire is a Dex save (so of course he can dodge those) but ice is a different save (Con, I think) and Vax isn’t as OP in that department. Just a neat way they visualized that, I thought

Also because he's a high level rogue he has evasion which completely avoids all damage from a successful dex save but since a white dragon breath is a con save, successful or not he takes damage either way

Worth noting since you were talking about their classes. Vax is indeed primarily a rogue, but interestingly in the campagin at this point being the champion of the matron of ravens he has also started taking paladin levels.

Imagine if one person had all the vestiges. Wearing the armor of the mother of ravens' champion with the Dawn plate over the chest. Ripley's cloak vestige over the armor and grog's strength gauntlets with Scanlan's sword strapped on the side and Vex'ahlia's bow tucked away on the back. I think that sounds badass.

You only have 3 attunement slots so you can't benefit from all of them unless you were an artificer subclass. Also trying to cram too much power into one character can have dire consequences (see Ashton from Critical Role campaign 3).

@@stevenclark5173 If you can only have three, then i'd choose the mother of ravens armor (gives you flight ability and makes you fast), Grog's strength gauntlets (for the extra strength and growth ability) and Ripley's cloak vestige called Cabals Ruin (which gives teleporting and minor space manipulating abilities. edit: It can control and redirect magic which is even cooler than what i typed before). I'd be all set.

Get ready. So far this season has been a doozy. Cabal's Ruin (the cloak) has been animated so well. I am so looking forward to your reactions, but especially Jake's to see how much he recognises and how much has diverged from the campaign. There is so much to gush about in the nine eps that have released so far and three more eps to come next Thursday. So much to look forward to for critters and newbies alike. ok so to help Jake i will be giving some facts that probably he forgotten in the episode about the campaing for the guys and the people watching that havent see the lets play or have forgotten: -Yes the whole incursion to Emon is new, like you say is for a hook in the first episode and i think in the original, besides keyleth , all where more acepting of working with Raishan. -Someting to have in mind about keyleth is that Pyra, the place Tordak first decimate when scape is tecnically part of her nation, a nation she is supose to lead in the future, so you remember this is personal to her. - other thing i belive the show have forshadow but in the campaing is a little bit more explain is that the reason Vax has that vision of keyleth alone with everybody dead is that Marisha make canon in the game the dnd lore that druids live thousands of years, so even if the one that live naturally longer (in this case being the gnomes) get to old age, she would outlive them all. -The "spice" guy is a condence joke in the campaing that i will explain in the future if the dont refence more in the season.

I literally just finished watching through the S1 and S2 reactions last night because I was hoping y'all would watch S3 soon, and HERE YOU ARE. I am excite! I love this show, I love D&D but find watching campaigns on KZbin UNBELIEVABLY boring. But all my friends have been telling me for years that I would love the stories Critical Roll creates, if only they would appear in a format I could enjoy. Thank goodness for animation! Now if Old Gods of Appalachia could just get an adaptation... (I have the same problem with podcasts lolsob) ETA: Also, I keep meaning to ask, what are those electronic notebooks Aaron and Calvin use? I go through SO MANY notebooks for my job (I'm a therapist) and an electronic one would be awesome... if it's secure enough to not be a HIPAA issue, anyway. (So, not Bluetooth, for starters.)
