I bump around on binging first reaction videos, like rappers the best because they pick up on lyrics way better than I can. Here's what happened in the 1990s, music diverged. I remember Sugar Hill Gang at the skating rink when I was really young, Run DMC was on MTv when I was in high school and we red state whites were kind of primed to work rap into the rotation but then it went away. Gangster Paradise poked its nose in while I was in college, life got busy, kids ... now we have reaction videos. Get me back up to speed what happened in the cities last 25 years and I'm in. Best ever though was a guy we grew up with that did road bikes in LA in 1988 and brought back Ice T, we wore the cassette out because we could blow matches out on his tweeters.

I LOVE Metallica. Got em tatted on my wrist as the only non-unique tat. I can play probably 3/4s of their catalog on guitar. Favorite band, hands down. Yall should check out frantic. That's a fun one like fuel. Or do unforgiven part 1, 2, and 3 in order. That's a fun trilogy. I really liked their 2nd to last album. Halo On Fire is amazing. Moth Into Flame is amazing. Here Comes Revenge goes SO hard and heavy.

@shanepellerin3271 I mean, it's a pretty heavy song lyric wise. It seems like as a species, we are on track to live out the scenario in that song. Everyone lives inside of their phones/computers now. Can't even imagine what it will be like 100 years from now or 500 years from now or even 2500 years from now if we don't kill eachother or the planet first

One of the better songs from the controversial 'Reload' album by Metallica in 1997... Should have been the 1st single, but they went w/ the humdrum 'The memory remains'... 🙄and sales for the record were nearly half of the previous album 'Load' in 1996. Many Metallica fans expected the band to fly the flag for heavy metal music in 1996 in the 'alternative rock' 90's years... Instead, they got 2 records in 1996/ '97 that sounded like everything else out there and not metal albums ... They went for a commercial hard rock sound on most of those songs, cut off their hair... It alienated a lot of their hardcore fans and brought in a pop music audience that loved Metallica only for the 1991 'black' album.
@theduke327110 ай бұрын
The memory remains is a song about Cliff. They mention in that song, Cliff's favorite song, Fade to Black. Thing is, Metallica matured and tried to get bigger audiences. Let's not forget, cliff's loss was a huge impact on their career. Both good and bad. Cliff didn't want to be mainstream. After he died, Bob rock did exactly that with Metallica. It changed their sound, but brought them a much wider audience. They've always been #1 for me and still to this day, respect whatever they put out. I may not "jam" to all of them the same way, but i still respect their music. I didn't agree with the Napster thing, but i respect their decision.
@sumonjamal165310 ай бұрын
@@theduke3271 The fact that u think "The memory remains" was about Cliff Burton shows that u know absolutely nothing...🙄 That song was inspired by the life of Marilyn Monroe (and in some ways, the life of co-vocalist Marianne Faithful) - a woman who was a glamorous & famous movie star... and later found herself falling into drugs and obscurity towards the end of her life... wondering how she ended up there. Marianne Faithful was a famous model/ actress/ singer in the 60's... the girlfriend of Mick Jagger... and she ended up w/ drug addictions and fell off the map in the 70's. Thankfully, she survived and made a career and life for herself... Marilyn Monroe did not. As far as Metallica's mainstream success... I wanted Metallica to be huge. I just did not want to see a band that epitomized heavy metal suddenly court pop audiences and appeal to fans of Backstreet Boys... That's why Queen fell in popularity in the US by 1982... Same w/ Kiss... They put out questionable records and lost their popularity. I love Kiss... but some of those records r no good. Call it what it is. Bob Rock made some great, heavy albums by Motley Crue, The Cult, Skid Row... I expected more from him w/ Metallica. He could have told them, "Guys, this is not gonna work..." But he let Metallica put out s+++ty records... That was disappointing. Call it what it is - a mistake. A failure.
