@@soso-ow5wg Such a missed golden opportunity to fully recognize their efforts and talents (plus, the song broke records and topped global charts in a way that will probably be hard even for them to repeat... but this is BTS so, who knows : P), not to mention that they performed it around 30 times throughout the year, all with different concepts and creative sets and styling (does the word "performance" for that award category not refer to actual "performance" at all? We remain confused.) T_T

The recorded this at 3am and they performed it like 3-4 times. Jimmy said he could feel their hearts pounding when he hugged them after, cause they worked so hard💜💜💜💜 It’s actually a subway station in NY and it’s crazy to see it empty like that

If you want to know the time just look at the clock in the back. At the beginning you see 3:26, but at Suga's part it's 3:07. You see the clock switch a few times and it finishes at 3:31. Dancing like that for 25 minutes, that's dedication.

i was so blown away the first time i watched this with my family because it really hit us that they closed grand central just for bts??? they had NEVER done that before from what we knew, so this was huge especially for americans watching this on the television

Yeah, they filmed it when the station was closed and only had like two hours or so to film it before the cleaning crew was to come in and clean it... I think like only five other artists ever performed there... I can't remember how many, four or five besides BTS, ever... so that they have is HUGE... and yet Grammy's-I mean Scammy's- don't recognize their impact and greatness? Smh 🤷‍♀️

You should check out their behind the scene for the Grand Central Station show as well. They also took the subway to the station. What amazing about this performance is that they filmed it at the busiest station in NYC, without anyone knowing about it, even though they filmed it after midnight.

I'm surprised when people say they don't know of Grand Central station (even Americans, in their reaction videos). It's a famous architectural landmark like the Eiffel Tower and Big Ben. You've probably seen it in movies but didn't know it was Grand Central. :P Sammy asked why the scenery and the song/BTS fit so well... it's because they're both EPIC and huge and beautiful and timeless and classy, hehe.

Grand Central Terminal is a 150 yo train station. This was before the pandemic. They had to perform at 3 or 4 in the morning, when the station is not in use by the public. Because of the softness of the stone used on the walls and ceilings, the room is not as echoy as you think it is. The acoustics are excellent. What you see here is the main concourse of the Terminal, where music was often performed when I was younger. That may still be the case, I haven't been to the Terminal in a few years. The floors are made of pink marble, and can be slippery. I remember comments from a practice in the Terminal that was up for a few days originally, where someone said that they were worried about slipping. That you could hear the drummers shouting, and the drumsticks falling, should tell you that the audio was live start to finish. They did four full taped performance run-throughs, each without a break. The performance in this video, which was shown on TV, is a mash-up of two of the four. The Terminal is iconic in the United States. The performance has come to be thought of as iconic, too. I was able to use this performance to convince a friend who was disparaging and critical of BTS that BTS do not lip-sync. After seeing this performance, after a couple of months, she became Army. Now that you have been working with BTS content for a year, could you start calling them something other than boys? They are all your elders, and their content has made your channel what it is. Men, guys, dudes... anything but boys, seriously.

I work nearby the GCT. It's an historic railroad terminal used by the Metro-North Railroad system providing transportation to the upstate New York area. This place is normally busy so I was impressed that they were able to close it down.

An airport in the middle of Manhattan would be interesting to say the least. Grand Central is a landmark train/subway station on 42nd Street that was opened in 1913 and its an absolutely stunning place, worth check out for the ceiling alone. I used to work in the connecting building (formerly Pan Am, now Met Life) and the night they filmed, I happened to be at a concert across town and passed Grand Central while accompanying my friend to the subway. If only I'd known! (It shuts down at 2 am and they filmed after hours.)
