As an aspiring artist myself, who has been studying the music industry for a while i can tell you that this is just a product of it's time. Where content is shorter and more graphic than it's ever been, labels know that it's easier to sell something controversial, souless, knowing that listeners are aware and will meme whatever it is. It's memes, memes all the way down. Thanks TikTok (edit) This kinda blew up! Glad people are feeling the same way.

It’s basically American drill music. The problem is drill music in the US sucks ass. It’s repetitive and extremely annoying, not to mention all the songs sound EXACTLY THE SAME WITH THE SAME TONE BEAT LYRICS CADENCE. It’s so bad. Picture a dumpster with wheels, with gasoline in it lit on fire being pushed down a hill. I’d rather listen to UK drill music and artists like Skepta, Meekz, AJ Tracey, OFB, Abra Cadabra because at least I can understand what they’re saying and it makes sense more than half the time.

Yes....this is what music is now. Ya know I grew up listening to Christian/gospel music from a baby to 11 years old. My mom never allowed us to listen to any secular music whatsoever. I took a different route when I was 11 and got into pop music. Back at that time it was Katy Perry, Ariana Grande, Imagine Dragons, Miley Cyrus, One Republic, Kesha, Lady Gaga, ect. I hopped into the secular boat because secular music sounded so incredible to me and made me feel different in so many ways. I got into hip hop at 12 years old and it immediately escalated to full dirty potty mouth rap music when I was 13. I look for good music deeply and what they put out now as #1 is nothing but BULLSHIT! Why the crap are these rappers sounding like they just got out of bed and was forced to perform a rap song in 2 minutes before breakfast! Like oh my gosh dude! Gospel music is so much better than this crap and 99% consider it boring and extreme cause it's about God and not about stripping in public and boasting about your naked body! WHY IS THIS #1!!!! EVEN AMERICAN IDOL WOULDN'T ACCEPT THESE LAZY SOUNDING RAPPERS! Oh yeah but that's right American Idol is just a TV show to get on to end up nowhere. Also this dude's reaction to that one girl's rap verse in the beginning of the video was priceless man! Absolutely speechless! Also one last thing how about the rappers rap about how drugs and alcohol are horrible for you and it will kill you instead about the color of our genitals.
@Cuppea
@Cuppea Жыл бұрын
Even though I haven't listened to gospel music because it's shit and boring as hell, it's AT LEAST it's better than 80% rap music for today. Like, just imagine a 13 year old (like me :D) listening to hard-core, electronic music and reggae music, and then I stumbled across THIS abomination bragging about of she sucking a man's balls. And there are like like a lot of sexual themes in music in general, at least they don't brag about drugs, gangs and sex in like.... THE ENTIRE DAMN MUIS! Bring back the old rap genre DAWWWWWWWG!

There has a slow degeneration within musi. within the last 50-60 years. Its present in EVERY genre that is exposed to pop culture. What may blow your mind is that...music is a direct reflection of culture and its values at that point in time. So, the degeneration of music coincides very very well with the degeneration of culture. At least in America, thats the only realy point of reference i have but check it out yourself to see

facts man. Rock music started becoming more and more degenerate too. Parents in the 50's thought rock and roll music was satanic but if you compare Elvis to the rock of the 80's like motley crue, you can see it got a lot more degenerate and more sexual along with society as a whole around that time. There was also sexual elements in the 90's music too like 90's rap had sexual bits in it as well. The only difference is, it has been getting so progressively degenerate that now we have reached a breaking point where people are making songs like "my coochie pink, my bootyhole brown" because society has degenerated along with pop culture and at this point society is at the same level as that song. I think that how people acted in the 50's towards sexuality was too conservative and that there was a good middle in there somewhere between the 80's and 2000's but now it's gone way overboard and over the top. We really need to make sure that it stops progressing at this rate and hopefully society bounces back a few decades soon.

When it comes to hip hop I always think about these words from Mos Def. Honestly, the quality of hip-hop has been going down ever since he said it. There are occasional standouts, but as far as what is popular the quality and message seem to degrade every generation. "Listen-people be askin' me all the time "Yo Mos, what's gettin' ready to happen with hip-hop?" (Where do you think hip-hop is goin'?) I tell em, "You know what's gonna happen with hip-hop? Whatever's happening with us" If we smoked out, hip-hop is gonna be smoked out If we doin' alright, hip-hop is gonna be doin' alright..." - Yaslin Bey (Mos Def)

@ispeakfactsbruh24, no. I will not agree to that. Every generation is going to say/have an opinion on when it peaked. I am a 90's kid, but now looking at things with a different view and looking at some bigger picture, I'm gonna have to agree with my parents. Music peaked in the 70's and 80's. What are 90's kids going to brag about? Nsync? Backstreet Boys? Britney Spears? Yeah right. 90's and early 2000's haven't aged well. Everyone looks at those artists and laughs and calls them jokes. But look back at all the artists of the 70's and 80's. They've aged better. No one is going to take you seriously if you brag about going to a Britney Spears concert in the 90's or early 2000's or some boy band. And none of the rock bands of the 90's are as iconic and stuff either. But name a band or artist from the 70's or 80's. What's everyone's response? "Lucky!!!" or "I wish I could've been there to see the band in their prime." The list goes on. Or when movies or TV shows use songs from anything before the 90's. Everything before the 90's "works" in stuff. But anything from the 90's to present day, everyone is like "oh god, this song (or artist) again?" But yeah. Every generation is going to have a different opinion on when music peaked.

Now it’s very rare to find something I like when it comes to new music. You can even factor in artists I was listening to in junior high, high school, and early college days. Those artists I won’t listen to their new stuff. But all this is just simply getting old or being old. You are no longer the target audience for current music. The torch has been passed.

My parents thought what me and my sisters listened to in the 90’s and early 2000’s was garbage. My parents told my that their parents/my grandparents called their music garbage and so on. It’s called getting old. Nothing else. Pretty sure my nephew and niece absolutely love the current music. But give them 5-10 years (or by 2030-2035), they’ll be saying new music is garbage. It’s simply called getting old and it escalates more and more as you get older. My grandmas definitely hated the music me and my sisters listened to. So yeah. Honestly what really bothers me about stuff like this is that, it reminds me of the stuff I was exposed to as a kid; in 5th grade we were all singing along to Anaconda, and talking about Kim K’s BBL’s, and we all knew about hentai. I think that made a lot of us grow up pretty degenerate, and it’s showing in music and the fact that so many girls are so comfortable with becoming amateur porn stars now. My concern is that we’re just kinda spewing our degeneracy, which is becoming more degenerate as we’re desensitized to it, without any concern about how it’s effecting the minds of the kids who are also consuming it. That only fans thing especially worries me; I was watching a Jubilee video about sex workers and the whole time they were bragging about how much money they made and I couldn’t help but think, man they’re almost encouraging people to go out and do this and you know that’s influencing children. I feel like this whole degeneracy thing is just gonna get worse and worse until eventually movies, music videos, video games, and tv shows just become straight up porn. When I was a kid,( and this just goes to show how corrupted I was as an elementary school kid), I would fantasize about the world being a really perverse place, but now that I’ve matured I look at these influencers and I get worried because it feels like they’re turning the world into the place I used to fantasize about. I don’t mean to be the think of the children guy, It’s just that as someone who’s grown up consuming degenerate content on the internet, I’ve realized how destructive it can be and people are only adding to the issue instead of finding some solution. I’m obviously not opposed to degeneracy entirely because I’m on this channel, but we’ve got to control our degeneracy and find some way for it not to effect kids.
