Bravo! Thank You for showing all of us this - it's brilliant organisation and strong evidence of a tidy mind . The hinged plate carrying the pulleys & prussiks to swing round for rear access is a master stroke, and I liked the tape around the tongs to find them in the snow too. You're clearly a strong fellow too - I'd have probably put the big saws at the bottom with the smaller ones over them, but I suppose if you're not needing the 880 out so often it will even things up over time. In English, the thing from your father whose name you didn't know is called a felling lever with a cant hook.

Hello. Thank you. I have been using those jacks about 10 years now and have been more than happy with them. I have 3 different size of them. Smallest one is nro 3 and it has about 1500kg pushing power, nro 4 is in use the most and it has around 2500 and biggest (sometimes too heavy) is nro 6 and it has 3600 kg. Brand is RH-pusher. Another brand is Stalpen and it is as good. Power around 3500kg. We use them almost every day. Fast and reliable. Only thing I have done for them is change wires sometimes. If there is possibility to brake something special, I often use also plan B, which is rope or wedges. I recommend that nro 4 or Stalpen.

I really liked this video, and found myself drooling over the organization... but I'm curious how your business works. Do you have a chipper truck tailing you at all times, or do you do a lot of 'cut-and-leave' jobs?
@Arboristfi7 жыл бұрын
Andrew Biemann, Hello Andrew. Thank you. Most of the work have been like cut and go. City workers or our co-operation guys are coming after us with tractor or truck with crane. But.... there is also a lot of work that privat customer continues by himself after we are done. Now we have smaller chipper (which goes into van) and trailer that is tipping with hydraulic. For smaller jobs.

still using this van? I am not sure if my next work truck should be a pick up or a van. I do need 4x4, don’t you miss that in this van?

so where does the woodchipper chip into?
@Arboristfi7 жыл бұрын
We have chipped into our Volvo FL 10 truck container, or straight into customers yard. But... as I told in video, we don´t use that much chipper here in Finland. Reason for that is energy. If there is going to be more trees to felled, we are using branches and all and make it into heat. Normally branches will be gathered into one bigger pile and after one year in there BIG chipper (horizontal grinder) comes and takes it all. I think you can find those places for piles easier than places where to dump fresh chips. And because of that we use often (Hiab) cranes or tractor in countryside to clear up work sites. More efficient when don´t have to clear it all by hands. It is just different techniques in different countries I have noticed.
@chrisgrayston19827 жыл бұрын
Guess so, you have more open space than we do, we predominantly use smaller trucks and chippers, mainly because we don't have the space unless were on street trees but also, biomass chippers are only used on site clearance. Also in this country it is volume reduction rather than wonderful grades of wood chip for biomass. If I did only see somone turn jp in a van I would kind of wonder if they were tree surgeons/arborists. But it's each to there own and what one set up works for one person won't work for another!
@Arboristfi7 жыл бұрын
That is right. When I bought my chipper I thought it would be more in use. Now I want just smaller for small felling jobs and for street tree pruning. And some day bigger to feed it with crane.
@chrisgrayston19827 жыл бұрын
See tractors sith roof mounted cranes and a big chipper get called in for clearance work, however ud be amazed what you get done with an 8 inch lindana, iv seen crane jobs with that chipper that a tractor couldn't do, as a rule we take the chipper to the job make life easier!
