Look at 13:40. Bigna was telling you he came to Ethiopia to visit his mother, because she's sick, and his friend was literally facepalming listening to this BS. His facial expression tells you everything. Personally, I would have just paid the 600 Birr/$10.98/ and walked away from them. There is a lot of poverty in the country. Inflation is at an all time high and the cost of everything is skyrocketing. 1 US Dollar is 54.64 Birr at banks and airports, but 1 USD is widely traded in the black market for 110 Birr, so 600 Birr is basically $5.45.

I love your content man. I would have lost my marbles. I’m an East African and I went through exactly the same thing when I traveled to ethiopia 2 years ago. I got to the point I didn’t want to buy anything as a result of being taken advantage of because I didn’t speak the language. That all changed when I met a local Ethiopian who showed me the best restaurants, shopping and tourist destinations. He was so kind and nice I even wanted to pay him for helping me out but he refused. Through him I met so many nice local people who even invited me to their homes. Stay cool as ice man as he use to say. Enjoy your travels.

If you died TODAY, where would you be spending eternity? Have all your sins been forgiven or are you still hoping that you're a good enough person to earn a spot in heaven. The reality is that no one can earn a spot, our sin disqualifies us. But the God news is that Jesus paid for our qualification by dying on our behalf taking the punishment that we deserved. JESUS said, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only Son; that WHOEVER believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." - John 3:16 Nothing is more important than your eternal destination. Please, don't say, "When I get older I'll get right with God' or 'I'll get serious with Jesus one day when I'm ready.' Don't wait any longer, today is the day of salvation. Get right with God today, for tomorrow very well might be too late. We invite you to REPENT and accept that Jesus Christ is Lord of your life by praying this simple prayer out loud right now... 'Heavenly Father, I turn away from my old life and repent for my sins. I believe that Jesus came for me, that Jesus died for me and that Jesus rose again for me so that I can be forgiven and receive eternal life. I believe in my heart and confess with my mouth that Jesus Christ is the Lord of my life from this day. Through Him and in His Name, receive the gift of eternal life. I ask you to fill me with the Holy Spirit and lead me for the rest of my life. In Jesus name - Amen.

I appreciate all you efforts to learn and pass your knowledge of different cultures and facts. The wooden tooth brushes people use are not like you said not because people don't have money it is traditional brush maybe long before the modern world came up with what we use now. Keeping snow white and clean teeth was a trdition. Had you tried one or 2 of them you would have learned why. Not every wood can be a brush, most have good flavor and are sweet. Have a great day.

Not too sure here; it's a poor country, you film in there, you CAN afford to overpay by a little bit - 8 Euros is somewhat "fine" and not actually outrageous. And that's n o t the price in Europe; even in Georgia or Armenia, you'll pay usually more than that for a haircut and a shave. :-) In Germany, going to a Persian or Arabian barber, it'll cost nowadays at least +/- 20 Euros. Most importantly: Why wouldn't you ask for the price BEFORE getting the haircut and the shave? (-:

I paid 600 Birr for the same service you got. The only difference was the hair wash I got in a relatively cleaner barbershop. I do not see a severe price gouging here. As one of your expatriates mentioned it to you the inflation and cost of living in Ethiopia is unbearably high to the locals. So, 400 Birr, which is under $10 is not too bad.
