One of my most enduring memories from Hawaii (over 30 years ago) was watching a guy body surf at Waimea, dude probably body surfed a couple hundred yards on some huge wave all the way to shore, just short of where I was laying on the beach, will never forget that.

I was a body surfer when I was a teenager and young adult. Every day in the summer, I would bodysurf with my friends along with my sisters . We rode some 7 and 8 ft waves at Marine Street in LA Jolla , Calif. WORE MENS BOXER SHORTS SO THAT ARE BIKINIS WOULD NOT GET RIPPED OFF FROM THOSE HUGH WAVES. WE HAD TO FLIP OUT AT THE END OF THE WAVE AS WE ENTERED THE SHORE BECAUSE THERE WAS A HUGH PILE OF SAND WHICH COULD BREAK YOUR SHOULDER IF YOU DID NOT DO A FLIP AT THE END. GOD, THOSE WERE SOME GREAT TIMES. 16:13

El Salvador's sea is amazing, one of the few seas in the world where I really don't think twice about going in, the temperature is perfect.

@Ben-Jones' I recall swimming in the Pacific Ocean on the coast of Costa Rica at the black-sand beach at Playa Hermosa, and the water was wonderful. In contrast, every time that I have been to California, the water has been frigid and quite unpleasant. Many of the beaches are rocky in that Western state, too.

Great idea to spend your last day exploring more of El Zonte. Really looks like a great beach. Could not have asked for better weather and the locals look very friendly. May not have been great body surfing waves, but the water looked so refreshing and inviting. This has been a wonderful introduction to El Salvador. Salude Cheers🍹😊❤

Always leave your bag at a beach bar. All you have to do is be friendly and buy a cheap drink or food, they will keep it behind the bar while you swim or wander. El Salvador is a bit different than other countries. Security everywhere. If you are headed east to Nicaragua check out El cuco and the Tortuga's Verde resort

Get yourself a foldable drybag, just big enough to fit the backpack. Use it with a fine cord to attach it to yourself and use it as a buoy. For Safety you know. Then next step.. Design your logo to put on the drybag, find a wholesaler with printing service and the rest is history

Gabe I stayed at Olas Permanente last month. I also stayed at Michanti up the block but also wanted to stay right on the water. I think it was around $100 on weekday but they always sellout on weekends. G

Never underestimate Bitcoin, which has increased revenues in El Salvador. With proper investment, the country could become a jewel. I have watched your videos on Greece which I agree is very attractive. The problem in Greece is: it's being financed by unsustainable debt, second only to Japan.

I'm so glad you visited El Salvador, because I was going to go but El Salvador is too expensive compared to what I can get in other countries. I really liked how the President of El Salvador cleaned up the crime. But El Salvador needs to rebuild and offer better value to expats.

El Salvador is mostly for surfers and on the weekends the locals from San Salvador fill up the beaches. For cheaper rooms there’s more options in El tunco.

A lot of Mediterranean beaches are pebble beaches, not sand. But I still like them for the scenery. To this day the most beautiful beach I've seen was in Tulum, Mexico, before the brown seaweed invasion. It was the most beautiful fine white sand with bright turquoise water.

NOW is the best time to visit El Salvador. It's going through a very unique moment in it's history, and I am very happy for them. However, if the country stays on the track that it's on, this place will be gentrified and overrun with tourists in 5-10 years. There are downsides to success... I hope I can get down there in the next year or two while it's still unspoiled and raw.

That is my type of beach. You have the whole beach to yourself and there are none of those annoying beach vendors trying to sell you stuff all day long. The only negative I can see is that there are no beautiful women in bikinis to look at but you can't have everything.
