Hey I'm 62 and I still like to go fast, so when I want a little speed, I take out my Bonnie but when I want to take it easy, I take out my 350. These days you will most likely find me on the 350, I just love this bike.

Everybody is pointing out it's low power output as a con, while praising it's vintage soul and that it wants you to cruise. That low power is why it's so old feeling and calm. It's a pro for me.

I have found Stuart Fillingham video's to be most informative, most genuine and honest. His reviews of Royal Enfield bikes are all great. I give Stuart - HIGH PRAISE - in his work covering the J series Royal Enfield Classic 350 motorcycle. Being an older American who's been riding a Harley Davidson FLHT Ultra Glide tourer, I have been pushed, motivated to trade that bike in for a Classic 350. There have been a multitude of video's made by a multitude of different reviewers, mostly British reviewers, which have pushed me to commit to making the switch in 2024 for a new bike. My problem is my FLHT weighs ove 800 lbs wet and with two up and gear it can top 1,400 lbs on the scale and that's too much weight for an old man. I also don't do two up touring anymore or long distance touring in general. I want ti known, here and now, there is absolutely NO PROBLEM with my 2010 Ultra Glide, it's the perfect highway touring machine for the two up task. I have had no mechanical difficulties with this bike at all. It's just simply too heavy for me at my age. As a younger man, it was a challenge and today it's just scaring me to take the bike out anymore. So, shedding 450 lbs weight would be a great help. A bike which who's wet weight was only 430 lbs sounds much more reasonable to me. And anymore, I'm just pudding around at 55 to 60 mph going down two lane roads anyway. I'm thinking of getting a Classic with the following options. I think I would like to have a clear fairing mounted. I would like soft yet waterproof saddlebags. I would like an engine guard as well as a crash bar mounted also. Perhaps I should consider also putting a rack on back for luggage. My thoughts are, I would like to be able to take the saddle bags off the bike in order to give offspring rides during my visits to their homes. I have started talking to a dealer and he has informed me that on October 21 there will be Royal Enfield corporate people there to allow us to test drive all their bikes as the new Super Meteor will be made available in the United States. I plan on attending that. I had considered a side car be mounted to the Ultra Glide which would solve the fear of falling over parking the bike but realized the cost of a side car would exceed the cost of just buying a whole new Classic 350 bike. I just found out today that you can actually bump start a Classic 350 from second gear. I could never BUMP START the Ultra Glide as getting 900 lbs of bike rolling at 5 mph to try it would cause my heart to stop. The durability of the Classic 350 crossing mountain paths in India, going down rocky and dusty roads around maountains was inspiring to me and am not sure I would even attempt something like this with the large Harley. Between the Hunter,, Meteor and Classic, I've found out the Classic has the greatest ground clearance and apparently the best stopping power due to being the heaviest bike of the three models. Yet, at the same time the Classic was the slowest, poorest performer of the three models of J 350's. None-the-less, I am not deterred by this fact as the Classic get's the same fuel mileage as the others. A 200 mile range is great. I've learned that the stock seats are the best for long distance trips. The stock tires are good. I would actually encourage anyone wishing to throw advice my way to do so, either publicly on this threat of privately via yahoo email, pre-name the same as on youtube. As with Harley Davidson, there is a HUGE CATALOG of accessories and mods which can be purchased for the Royal Enfield Classic 350 bike available which is encouraging. The 3 year, unlimited mileage warranty was just OUTSTANDING for a motorcycle. The number of people providing testimony to the utter durability of the J series is just incredible! I have also come to realize that post my warranty, I could install a performance cam shaft , air intake, fuel management system and performance exhaust, and even change out the chain sprockets to allow the bike to do 85 mph, which is a consideration for sure. Anyway, I will conclude. Stuart, I wanted to thank you personally for the work you've done here promoting this platform, it has been most compelling for me. You should be commended for your work here and I can't thank you enough. I think in 2024 I will own a chrome Classic. I'm just not sure what color to get as I'm afraid the RED color skeme might fade out over time. I'm wondering of brown or grey might be a better choice. I think you Stiart for allowing me to post my thoughts here on this matter and will continue to post my progress on this change over as things happen. Wouldn't it be great Stuart, if they did make a new, modern 500 CC , single for a whole new platform? Perhaps you wouldn't agree with me on that. Perhaps you'd like to see them adapt the 400 CC version they already have or even make a 650 twin piston version of the Classic. My only hangup about the 650 was it was getting heavy again. The 650 feels heavy , the interceptor does feel heavy to me which I set on it. A 500 would have the H.P. we could use in America but without the extra 110 lbs weight at 650 brings. Good Job Stuart and thanks again. Sincerely, Charlie

I used to ride a 1958 Ariel Huntmaster and had great fun touring Europe with the owners club. With a real classic, though, you need to know a lot about maintenance or have a tame mechanic. When my step-dad died (who was our mechanic when touring) I had to be realistic about what I wanted to ride. I compromised on a Triumph T100, then a Speedmaster, but now I have ordered a Bullet 350 Reborn as it gets me closest to the classic ride I loved. Its limitations are its strengths and its joys. Can't go fast? Then just relax and absorb how wonderful it feels.

Thanks for the review.I agree with your thoughts on the bike. Perfect bike for you and your girlfriend to enjoy time on. You have a beautiful country with lots of places to explore and visit at a relaxed pace. I had a short wonderful visit way back in 1985. We thought it often looked similar to here in New Zealand. I'm getting the same bike soon. I can not wait! Those bar end mirrors look like they would be a good mod. My last bike I owned was a 1976 Yamaha RD 350( last of spoke wheels before the RD 400 came out ) so it makes sense that my next bike would be a RE 350 !! Same but different !! My RD was like me at the time high revving hold on tight ride with 1 eye open to see where the traffic cops were..... I am now a chilled out Reborn Classic old dude with an ever increasing Chrome dome 🤣🤣🤣😂😂

The red and chrome is the best looking Classic 350 by far. I love the looks of the bike and I did sit on one at a dealership and like the upright seating position. A few years ago I ride a Classic 500 with a side car and it was a lot of fun. But I live in the states and I'm afraid I would be too disappointed witht the lack of power. I know it would provide a very relaxed ride on the backroads, but in the states we ride the highways a lot to get where we want to go in a hurry and I'm afraid that's where I would be so disapponted. Love the bike, just afraid of the lack of power.

You (in India) also get first 4 services free of labor charges, correct?

Really enjoyed this review! Yes, the bike is beautiful, I myself have previously had the Ducati 906, and the KZ900, also a 650 Kawasaki... Before I liked a different pace on motorcycles. But I have found that with a not so powerful bike you can cruise to no end, enjoy the scenery much more ... I love the Royal Enfield Classic, it is gorgeous! The look, the sound, and built like a tank, dependable. I agree with you about the best speeds to go at with this wonderful bike. To be able just to cruise, in a comfortable position on that "modern classic" is heaven I bet! Definitely my next bike, I live in Europe and would love to travel with this beauty for sure ... Most importantly, that fact that it is pretty much a simple engine, and simple bike making it perfect for one to do their own maintenance, and service is king in my book. Thx for such a pleasant review!!

The brakes are originally not top notch. But a change to sintered brake pads make them good enough. Atleast for slow pace tagging around.

Hi! your bike looks beautiful with all the modifications. I also researched about your performance mods that you did. I intend to do the same for my gunmetal classic. :) It would be great help in my decision making if you help me know how much of difference the performance mods made? Is the bike easy touring cruise speeds increased? like 60mph and above? Top speeds gain if any? and how much a difference in mileage? Would really appreciate your response.
