Hey, Mark I have been following you and Jacob Wheeler for quite sometime. I live in northern New York and fish the St Lawerence river and Lake Ontario. I have had great success with the ned rig and also fish exclusively Z Man stuff. Other then the kind of line I also fish about the same weight lines except 15 lbs braid and 6 to 8 lbs fluorocarbon leader but a longer leader. The water is very clear in the ST Lawerence. I was hoping to get a chance to talk to you two but the Ogdensburg [ST Lawerence River] MLF was canceled. Hopefully next year. Enjoy both of your channels. Larry Rosbrook

Never fish without the ned rig. I have two rods rig with neds, one craw and one trd or Ned tubes, you could fish the same bait all day as long as you don't break off. Can't say the same for other companies. Good luck on Lake Erie this week Mark,

Thank you Sir, I have been really looking at getting into the finesse game. I have been telling all my buddy's that this rig will be my most expensive one. Hey MJD. Great video man. Do you fish the net rig in shallow water? Am I shallow I mean less than 10 feet. Do you fish the same size weight in that depth of water? Are you fish in the net rig around vegetation at all or specifically rocky structure only? Keep up the great work man
@thomasmartin82024 жыл бұрын
I caught 8 this morning in well under 10 feet but you can use the Ned Rig in any depth; just increase the head size with depth to maintain good bottom contact and control or if it's windy/wavy/flowing, otherwise go with the lightest weight head you can. I like the 1/15 oz for up to around 8 feet, then the 1/10 for a bit deeper. Since it's an exposed hook, snagging or catching vegetation are always issues, though they make weedless heads which help some.
@HookLife4 жыл бұрын
Thomas Martin right on man. I like the Ned. Getting better with it. Learning it’s all about the ROF. Fishing it in moving water is unique as well. I always like to get different perspectives on this technique
@MarkDanielsJr4 жыл бұрын
Yes I love it in shallow water too 1/6oz is my go to. But you can go even lighter in super skinny water
@robertbrost77772 жыл бұрын
I use the Crawz but with a Bulletz hook. They don't stand as straight up as they do on the shroomz but, I think that's a more lifelike presentation.

I tied on a Ned rig on a older spinning reel just because it’s starting to get that time of year. I put 20lb pline on it just cause I didn’t have anything else on hand. Caught a few small ones but def intrested in finesse now

This summer I have been fishing the Ned rig quite consistently. In the years past I was using 12 pound test leader I had some success but after recently dropping down to 8 pound test I have caught way more fish. I also do use the Z man finesse shrooms,But my part of the country a lot of our lakes grass up and I discovered I have equally or better success using the Z man bulletz. Thanks for making a video it was super dope and really highlighted how effective the Ned rig really is.

Great explanation on gear MDJ! Thanks...I starting using the smackdown last season but found that it tended to dry out maybe because this season I was having issues with the leader knots not holding or snapping. And yes, I use an Alberto knot that I think is an excellent line to line knot. I’ve since switched over to suffix nano braid, using same knot and same leader line with no issues. Maybe I got a bad batch of smackdown?? Anyway, tight lines!

For any one that has ever tried to use small braid anything under 30 pound braid if you don’t use a high vis color you can NOT see the line. Gotta use a bright color braid if your going with 20lb or smaller it’s almost impossible to see moss green line at that diameter.
@TheRecon1a4 жыл бұрын
I exclusively use Braid Spider Wire. I just got back into bass fishing. Is it imperative to use braid to like Fluorocarbon. I'm using 15lb test 6lb diameter.
@bigdoggstatus994 жыл бұрын
Lighter braid tends to float, depending on the brand. Being a line watcher is just part of the game. How many times growing up did you see your mono swimming off, then set the hook. Like dad used to say, "stop playing around and watch your line" The only reason you're having difficulty is because you've conditioned your eyes to hi vis colors.

You say the original is always the best. Not true. It seems to me you are trying to just plug your sponsors Zman and Bill Lewis. After the first of a type of bait comes out, other companies have the chance to design something better like that
