I totally agree with what you are saying. I myself feel a bit like a "wanderer between two worlds" being considered "a tourist" from abroad and a tourist from Spain in one. Soy alemán, pero llevo 30 años viviendo en España, por lo tanto ya más tiempo que anteriormente en mi país de origen, y más aun si tengo en cuenta otras estancias en otros países. Sin embargo, uno no deja de tener una visión del mundo fuertemente impregnada de los primeros veinte años de tu vida, y si de alguna forma no se te van los rasgos de tu tierra y te sigue costando la jodida pronunciación de la rrrrrr rollada, por mucho que estés viviendo ya 30 años en la provincia de Valencia, te siguen tomando por "guiri" cuando viajas por otro rincón del país o por lo menos, al principio, y después se dan cuenta que algo no cuadra con "este".😂 Cuando vives en una pequeña ciudad integrada en la cultura local y estás incluso casado con una española como yo, encima trabajas y contribuyes como la gente del país, al final eres uno más. El turista alemán, que busca restaurantes de comida alemana lo hace por sentirse a gusto con sus hábitos culturales incluso en otros entornos - cosa que no entiendo. Siempre me ha atraído lo diferente. Cuando voy yo a un restaurante alemán es diferente. Es para disfrutar de algo de mis tierras de origen, que no me brinda el sitio donde vivo en mi día a día en España. Me verías disfrutando de un plato típico alemán en Tenerife, estando harto de estar rodeado de turistas alemanes, con los que no me identificaría. Serían "guiris" para mí. Hasta hablar alemán se me haría pesado. Probablemente suena arrogante, pero así es. Allí ya soy más español que alemán al final.

Oh I love this video in English, maybe you can consider to create more content in English! My boyfriend is from UK (Northern Ireland) and the first time we went to visit my family in Tenerife, the very first day he behaved like a complete Güiri: we went to the beach with my nephew in La Candelaria (not the best beach but it was what we had in hand), and it was in gnarly conditions: lots of big waves and a strong current. I said to him, please don't go deep in the water it's looking bad, he didn't listen, the current took him and he crashed against the rocks, it was like a small seawall. he continued to crash against the rocks, I yelled at him and told him to swim further to the open sea away from the rocks and to try to get out on the other side, he finally did it and got out the water with horrible scratches in his back but it could have been way worst! They believe for some reason because they are on holidays they shouldn't take precautions and have a free pass to being reckless, my bf learned this lesson long time after this episode back in Greece, a story for another time :( I will be back to Tenerife for my sister's wedding this end of August, I will be there a wee less than two weeks, maybe we could think about making a colab? I really love your videos. BTW, have you heard about the case of the missing british teenager in Tenerife happening right now? his name is Jay Slater and the story is horrendous!

After years living abroad, and coming back for a year I have some different takes on this. Most people go down to the Canaries because it's a cheap destiny, or they buy packages with tour operators so they can pay for everything beforehand and have control over their economics. On the other hand, after working all year going to work under the rain and struggling, people just want to have two weeks under the sun stress-free, and all-inclusive hotels are perfect for it. Regarding the food, everyone looks for comfort when on Holidays, and Canary food is not for everyone, not everybody likes deep-fried meat potatoes.
