My great aunt and uncle had a place in south Texas, the hogs tore everything up, my uncle, a Vietnam vet said the hogs left what looked like to him was like something that had had a mortar strike in one of the pastures. He let anyone come out to shot them.....this was in the mid-70s. I'm sure it's still as bad or worse. Btw, just found this channel, love it. Keep it up!

I’m very glad you have found your way into hunting. I live in MN so I have never seen the damage that the hogs do. But I grew up in a hunting and fishing family. It teaches self reliance. But it’s the things you learn in the journey to harvest. Take care bro

I tried to comment on the I believe it was pws 7.62x39 but my phone locked up. You mentioned ammo cost. Do you or have you considered reloading. If you have access to the brass the cost is 1/3 to 1/2 factory ammunition

The problem is with private landowners who simply see the hog hunting as a profit and practice no real management. These are many of the private landowners who charge the general public $150+ for a one time specific hunt limiting you to 1 or 2 hogs and these owners actually care less if you see or harvest a hog at all. This is the real problem especially if you are uneducated or just ignorant to facts about hogs, their breeding, their destruction and their place in life. No one wants or will ever rid them completely, but they must be controlled just as with anything else in life or they will take control and take over.

@ A Amantine- How has your AERO M5E1 AR10 been when shooting suppressed reliability wise suppressed? I realize .308’s have a reputation for being fickle especially when you adding a suppressor. So thinking of playing it safe and buying a factory POF Revolution DI 16” .308 along with a Versatile suppressor I can use with .308/5.56&6.5Grendel. As looking for a heavy hitting lw .308 so was thinking of the 16” revolution as a all around heavy hitting dmr type set up with a lpvo then getting the 20” Zev 6.5 Creedmore with more magnification to reach out a bit further as a starting point for dipping my toe into full power “battle rifle” type cartridges. As my theory is that such rifles are much more costly than 5.56 so looking to maintain high level of quality and reliability as well as between the two no matter of hunting or life/liberty I’d at least add some diversity to my stable of long guns while keeping a basic level of versatility and function up as I work on adding more rifles for other more specific roles.
