The album is sick. I've rewinded Boom, Passionfruit, and XOXO entirely too many times. The layering, the harmonies, the attitude.

I have to check out the rest of this comeback and then I'll have to catch up. They seem like a newish group so hopefully I won't be behind forever like I am with other groups! 😩 They are very talented. Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts!

I like NMixx better with every comeback. Had a little trouble with he mix concept early on, but ever since Love Me Like This, I’ve been able to 100% get behind several songs. This one is my favorite so far, it kind of hit me the same way as Baddie and Drama when they all came out. The bright shoes contrasted against the dark with the footwork was straight genius. I also love how Jiwoo’s pulled back hair swings from side to side behind her as she moves.

I'm new to NMIXX, I think I saw them only on SBS Gayo Daejeon, which is a big concert that was broadcast on Christmas day with many groups. But they definitely stand out with their vocals. This was really good. That slowdown as the one member started running like Quicksilver was amazing.

NMIXX is the most talented girlgroup of the 4th generation and probably in general kpop in the last 10 years. EVERY member of the group can be the main vocalist, lead vocalist, subvocalist, rapper and main dancer. The group is so talented and full of aces/all rounders that i think JYP does have a hard time deciding who gets what part. Who will do the high note here? who will rap here? who will be center in the dance break? who will be the visual of this music video? and so on. I have NEVER seen a group like this, other kpop groups (the typical kpop group) has at least one main vocalist, one lead singer or 2, a couple of subvocalists, like 2 or 3 rappers, a visual, and 1 or more main dancers. With this group EVERYONE is that. They are so insanely good that they are the kpop group with most members going to Lee Mujin service (a show where idols go to show and flex their singing skills), there have been 4 of the 6 members going, and i expect the last 2 to go too soon.
@ChainReactionsChannel Жыл бұрын
Oh wow I've been hearing a lot about Lee Mujin in so behind on that. They are clearly talented I really enjoyed their vocals and their moves. Served a lot of sass and I love that. Obviously another group I need to get familiar with! Thank you for watching and sharing this information!

Cool as F video w the captive prisoner motif, zebra suit inspired fashion (even put in an actual zebra!) and "I wanna dash" chorus with motive to break the hell out. The final flier floating down from the tower where they were captive "Hey you bastards I'm still here" taken from movie "Papillon" when Steve McQueen finally escapes from Devils Island penal colony after many years of an unjust imprisonment. Highly recommend that movie even though it is a bit old it is a classic.

Oh very cool!! Thank you for that extra context, I did get the theme of being imprisoned and running free but I obviously had no idea at all about that movie! I thought this was great, like you said, dope video and these young ladies are talented! Thank you so much for watching.

My favourite of Nmixx is Run for Roses. Definitely check out their dance performance. One thing about JYP artists they are all very talented on live performance. Nmixx songs may not for everyone but their vocal talents and dancing skills are top tier.

I'm finding that I enjoy these quirky/different groups! I have seen with ITZY that they might not be everyone's "thing" but so far it's working for me! I'd like to check out Run for Roses I've seen that suggested a couple times now!
@elh7149Ай бұрын
This is a while back but I can chip in to say that there seems to be a "zebra" / stripes theme to the music video, hence the black and white, the literal zebra, and the city street intersection setting with the crosswalks (also known in many countries as zebra crossings- including Australia where Lily is from, haha). It might be a stretch but I also think vertical prison bars match that as well. I don't really know the symbolism of it or how it connects to the song or their lore. I don't really understand their lore well anyway.

Good morning! Really nice to wake up to this. Love the comeback and it's nice to see you have several NSWERs already. Their debut release O.o was not an instant favourite for me as their changeups were a bit challenging. The groups' concept (really JYP's concept) of these changeups has been called "divisive". They seem to be a bit more focused on their B-sides, but I can't say that I've 100% identified a pattern. Nonetheless, O.o is now solidly in my mix and their A-sides make me smile every time they come on. In live performances the girls seem to be truly enjoying themselves, same with dance rehearsals where they frequently sing live along with challenging choreography and no vocal backing track. You've got a great list of their MVs already, so I'll just add my own notes: O.o & Dice will firm up the concept that is evident in Dash. While Sonar was the early pre-release track for this album, Run for Roses was released last week as a performance video (awesome) and an It's Live performance (truly awesome, though challenging for copyright issues) and is worth checking out--great harmonization and unique instrumentals (for kpop). Love Me Like This is my all time favourite track & MV from them and also has a great It's Live and dance rehearsal performances. Their talent is on full display. Young, Dumb, Stupid always makes me smile - there is a nice switchup there. Cool (your rainbow) is a great sweet song for vocals & one of their best B-sides imho. Tank and Paxxword are the only two other tracks that have featured strongly out of their discography and haven't been mentioned here but I don't personally think they demand a reaction. Hope that helps & thanks for the reaction. I actually watched yours before watching the video (though after listening to the album ;-)

Oh interesting... I obviously have to catch up on them but I have noticed a narrative of divisiveness and I don't know, maybe experimentation, with ITZY and I'm not saying the groups themselves are similar but the way you're describing NMIXX sounds like there might be some common threads in these JYP groups? Maybe I'm misunderstanding. Anyway I'm excited to see more of what NMIXX has - between Roller Coaster and this I can see they definitely offer a range of sounds and concepts. Thanks for the information and of course thank you for watching!
@ianfinitive Жыл бұрын
@@ChainReactionsChannel Yeah, both groups definitely bear the imprimature of JYP. And I think that both suffered from his being distracted by other projects over the past year+. I'm glad to see strong comebacks from both of them this year as both groups have astonishing talent that should be recognized and allowed to thrive. That being said, there have been members who need to take a distinct break, so as a fan I don't want to push too hard for 'more more more.' If I was going to easily sum up the difference between the groups I'd say NMIXX is more edgy, while obviously Itzy is more Yeji

Sonar and Run for Roses are the prereleases and both are very different from Rollercoaster, haha. The summer releases, Rollercoaster and Party OClock were a temporary thing explained in the lore as them dreaming. I'm biased but I think you should react to them all. Run for Roses, O.O (debut), Tank and Love Me Like This especially though.
@ChainReactionsChannel Жыл бұрын
I think I saw Run for Roses is part of this comeback, right? I'd probably have to check out the more current stuff for the algorithm but yeah I'm definitely interested in checking their discography! How do you pronounce "O.O" lol. "Oh oh?"
@thelastsplash Жыл бұрын
@@ChainReactionsChannel Definitely check out the two new pre-releases, Run for Roses (performance video) and Sonar (mv) from this comeback. It'd be a great way to sort of see all the ways they "mix" and play with genres. They really don't have a particular sound besides that when you hear it, you'll know it's them from the way they experiment with it and that the girls all have really unique, identifiable vocal tone. And O.O, which I pronounce Oh-oh, was their controversial debut song as the kpop world was not ready for how NMIXX just doesn't follow the rules musically. Tank was the b-side of their debut song and is really powerful with choreography that mirrors a military tank. And Love me Like This was their title track before their summer promotions and won them their one and only music promotion award (they've won annual awards but only one of the shows).

Roller Coaster is outside their normal approach to music. It's one of the farthest from it. Their debut O.O sets the type of music they will do followed with Dice, and Dash is a more refined "mix pop" with smoother transition.

4:04 i know you're a fan of itzy's abs/core, but check out leader haewon's abs here 4:20 im not usually a fan of groups addressing their haters (yes i know this might just be a stylistic choice and have nothing to do with haters) because haters in kpop are especially toxic and not worth a single thought or consideration from any decent human being. however, NMIXX has been hugely disrespected since their debut for their different style of music (which is funny because i thought modernity was all about accepting/welcoming people and things that are different and yet this concept doesnt extend to certain kpop music or the groups that make that music for some reason) so the "hey you bastards, im still here" definitely feels justified if it was meant, even minimally, as a message. NMIXX ain't going anywhere, their mixxpop style aint going anywhere, and neither are their fans (Nswers)!
@ChainReactionsChannel Жыл бұрын
Oh!! Oh wow I don't know how I missed that definition that's crazy. 😩 That's unfortunate that they've been disrespected - I've noticed that a lot with ITZY too where people seem to criticize them for being quirky and experimental with their sounds/concepts. I think groups that dare to try something different deserve respect and recognition, even if not every experiment is a success I'm glad people are trying, otherwise we'd never discover anything new! I hope to cover more of NMIXX comeback I'm definitely intrigued. Thank you for sharing this info (and the abs)! ❤️
