The problem I think the movies fails at is identity, they are trying to adapt the book and the original movie at once but struggle in the tone because of it (also pre-little mermaid where you have actors not known for singing sing the songs but had scarlet johanson who can sing be in the credits, why?) only 2 of the songs are still part of the movie which leaves a “why have so small of song picks either keep all of them there or none at all” but the ending outcome is different so it can’t fully make up its mind on what it wants to be an adaptation of the book of a remake of the film. Pete’s dragon gets talked about even less and I think it’s because it lacks the nostalgia that wouldn’t give out high enough profits most people know Pete’s dragon from the electric parade and that’s about it. Jungle book doesn’t get mocked mainly because pre-beauty on the beast the remakes were used as a fun way to re-examine the old material to then after beauty and the beast using meta commentary to justify its existence and “fix” things

I hated the first Lion King. I lacked emotion and expression, wich is a big thing in animated animals that make animated movies so much better in this aspect. But i didn't gave Disney a cup of tea cuz just in 2005 they already had succeded in translating talking animals realisticaly in liveaction with Chronicles of Narnia. Andy Serkis also did that in Mowgli (i know some ppl don't like this version but i preffer a lot), so Lion King, to me, was a big miss. But Mufasa's trailer looked like they fixed it, so i think it may be interesting. I also didn't belived whem Barry freakin Jakins signed to make this movie. It felt wrong. I feel like almost every time a big director with distinguished authorship enters in Disney's ballroom, they do him dirty. But yeah, i'll give Mufasa a chance, but thank god Jenkis is back to his roots.
