Yes. While the Count Dracula from the novel also was charismatic and elegant (though it was more him faking it), the image of the vampire being a seductive younger man comes from the 1931 movie adaptation. Also, the original novel centered on black humor. I think the producers of the movie originally wanted it to have a similar tone to the novel, but when they realized they were going to use animation, they went "Uh, animation is for kids. Let's tone down everything and add Minions-like sidekicks for comedy. This is about vampires, right? Make those sidekicks bats, no one will tell they're ripoffs. Oh, and let's add farts too. Even better, let's make the father a walking talking fart joke". It's a pity the movie ended up like that, because sticking to the original novel would make for an adult animated movie with a lot of potential.

The best part- this movie is actually a giant product placement. It was made in cooperation with the 'europapark', which is a very popular amusement park in Germany. I remember seeing a version of this movie that was condensed into a 5 minute roller coaster, 5D experience while I was on the worst vacation I've been on. It was just some version where the family goes on some wAcKy roller coaster ride chasing the witch to change them back to normal, but all of a sudden when they're about to die, they come out of the ride perfectly normal and it's basically an "It was all just a dream!" things but for a roller coaster. The 5D thing was like a shaking chair that I loathed and I swear I got 15 concussions from the first few seconds alone. Moral of the story: bye

as much as I know, it originated from a short movie which played in the biggest german amusement park called "Europa Park" I've seen the short in the 4D cinema there, which always shows exclusive short films for "free" (well, you still pay for the entrance to the park) and I found the full movie on Netflix like a year later. as far as I can remember, the short was called "Happy Family" and the movie is called "Monster Family"
