Honestly, would love to see you do a tutorial on "natural" makeup for men and for women that you can wear in real life, like really undetectable makeup that just makes you look like you woke up like that, and with all of the "this for a round face", "this for a long face" etc.
@stealthis8 ай бұрын
use as little product as you can, NAIL the undertones, and never go for anything more than medium coverage. avoid anything too matte, too shiny, too vibrant, as all of these are literally unnatural (nobody is born with these traits). in terms of face shape stuff, that's subjective, but it's aimed at making you look like you have an oval face (so for round face you want to introduce length with contouring to create diagonal line, long face you want to contour to shorten, horizontal line)

my issue with the 3rd creator was how they kept saying there is no point to setting cream products with powder products. that's actually a very old technique, from around the 30s or 40s. I personally love the process because it gives a sort of lit from within glow, and it obviously works great for vintage styled makeup looks. it also turns nearly any product into something very very long wearing/sweat proof.
@handsoaphandsoap8 ай бұрын
It also just… sets the product. Like, that’s the reason to do it, to make the cream product stays in place throughout the day. A wild claim by the creator.

I think Marylin Monroe always used Vaseline underneath her makeup. But then again foundation was really different back then.
@RobertWelsh8 ай бұрын
She did! And on top of her makeup like how we use highlighter now, but despite people saying she used it as moisturiser etc (a lot of people did because the lack of skincare/different foundations), it was actually a common technique used in Hollywood back then because Vaseline made the skin appear “blurry” on the cameras around at that time. If you’ve ever heard the phrase “Vaseline on the lens” it’s means to blur! All the old formulas of makeup a lot of the time didn’t contain a lot of the “skincare” ingredients we have now, so it may have worked either way a lot of the old crease paints or tougher lipsticks but the formulas we have now, it’s a no go for longevity

Yeah, no. The person in the olive green t-shirt didn't demonstrate it correctly. If they hadn't plastered the blush on, that side would have (and even still did, IMO) look better than the other side where they hollowed out an already very angular face. But as you, Robert, said- everyone has different personal preferences as to how they want their face to look. I like the brightness under the eyes and the color higher on the cheeks myself, and I can pull it off in person and in photos; it's not true that it *always* translates badly IRL.

I always love the "don't do this" videos, because they're always trying to fix a problem that doesn't exist. They always use examples of makeup styles that literally nobody does. I also loved his statement of "don't stack cream bronzer and powder bronzer. If you're dry use cream, if you're oily use powder." that's ridiculous. People stack powder bronzer or blush on top of their cream products for longevity, and to get the best of both worlds.

I live off of Vaseline in the winters, BUT only as a way to seal in my skin care products _after_ cleanser and only a very thin veil, with a tiny bit more over my dry, patchy areas. It's been a life saver, BUT it absolutely does not sit well directly under makeup... If it's a dry skin day, I'll apply a thin veil of Vaseline after skin care, and let it sit for an hour then lightly dab off before applying concealer or foundation.... But more often than not, I skip the skin makeup and use spot correction and cream blush and cream highlight. PS, Neverrrrrr apply Vaseline to uncleaned skin, or you will trap bacteria between your skin and the petroleum jelly!!! PPS, This stuff also works great to protect and heal zits (after using acne patches), dry cuticles, hands, elbows, knees, and scratches. Esp with healing zits and scratches, applying Vaseline to the cleansed area has really helped mine heal faster and reduce the development of hyperpigmentation! It also helps my dry cuticles heal and prevent me from picking at them 😅 Just sharing in case this helps anyone!!

In these past few months I have started using vaseline for slugging around my eye area as opposed to using other more expensive balms etc. It works great, however, the last tub I bought on Amazon says something like "skin protectant" and "triple filtered" and I've googled it found that, in theory, it should be the higher quality type of vaseline BUT to me, it feels totally different and not good. It feels like it drags my skin when applying and is super think and actually doesn't really feel very "oily" very strange.. I'm wondering if it's fake. The packing seems legit down to the fine details so I dunno

As a person who grew up w/ oily skin & acne, Vaseline used to TERRIFY ME. Lmaooooo. But I absolutely love it now. More particularly, my fave petroleum-based product is the CeraVe Healing Ointment. I especially like using it on nights when I use a higher concentration of AHA/BHA. Also, as far as healing cuticles goes?? Try Kerasal - it's basically Vaseline + Urea & it's great.

Love that phrase “influencers makeupnis different to normal make up” or something along that line I’m glad when I started to get into makeup properly (even tho I was wearing make up already but not bothering with techniques) I was applying the influencers way and it never sat right with me nor felt it suited to my face In comes Robert, not only said the theory, why, showed the difference, the techniques especially based on your face shape...not only it was much better applying it, looking at my face afterwards looked good and I felt understanding the makeup theory gave me more options to try different things and be more creative I realised, these influencers aren’t muscular at all, let’s alone pro, and the makeup they ever done is their friends or themselves Before I’d put blush here because they did or put transitions shade first but never understanding why and the colour shimmer aren’t as pigmented I got hooded eyes and most influencers their eyes aren’t so I always struggled applying and looking like theirs afterwards But Robert is a game changer, he was helpful, knowledgeable yet so humble and just in it to help not for clout
