*Clarification on the title* : I of course don't mean to suggest that attractiveness depends *only* on tongue posture. Nutrition of the mother and nutrition of the person during formative years surely play a very large role in how the face develops. In fact, the book Nutrition and Physical Degeneration would suggest that; fat soluble vitamins being very important for fertility and proper development of young, with grains & sugar ("modern foods") being very detrimental for development and oral health especially. Oral posture would be another piece of the puzzle. On that note, Francis Pottenger's experiment with cats found that cats on a poor diet developed deteriorated facial structure by the third generation. NOTE ON SUTURE FUSION: I wish I had used the phrasing "these sutures are not *completely* fused together," or "sutures are not *completely closed* ..." It's understood that after birth, the sutures of the skull "fuse" together by age 2 or so. One study found that complete closure of certain sutures does not occur until as late as 70 years old. Another found that “The human frontozygomatic suture undergoes synostosis during the eigth decade of life, but does not completely fuse by the age of 95 years," based on 61 human cadavers aged 20 to 95. -See the linked PDF in the description for more details/links

@hechetonchieres5 жыл бұрын
I'm very surprised that you made absolutely no mention of the importance of breastfeeding in the development of proper swallowing technique and jaw formation, and I'd be even more surprised if these orthotropic authors made no mention of it. To put it simply, breast feeding is a labour-intensive exercise for the infant. It exercise the tongue, the jaw, and the lips, and is very crucial in helping the infant learn to swallow with the tongue "from front to back" of the mouth. The baby has to pull the milk from the breast, and as you compared in your video, the gush from a bottle is a totally passive exercise. You can see in the faces of adults who has been breastfed and who was bottle fed. The breastfeds have wider faces, better jaw formation and little to no swallowing difficuly. The bottlefeds have the narrow hanging jaw and have poor tooth placement and can also have severe swallowing difficulties. You can research the work of Dr. Brian Palmer for yourself if you are interested.

This is astounding! I have been a mouth breather for as long as I can remember. Nose blocked half the time. I have crooked teeth and no chin! Today is day 1! Wish me luck folks! Edit : 1 year progress. First of all, thanks everyone for the encouragement! I kind of feel like the flag bearer for this video lol. Doing it for self improvement, you guys and for science :P So I shaved my beard and noticed that my chin has indeed moved forward!!! I'm no Johnny Bravo yet since the move is still subtle but I definitely see it on my profile side. I have been pressing my tongue hard while on my commute to work and back, so 40 minutes a day. All the while keeping the tongue in the proper position throughout the day. It has quickly helped me breathe out my nose at night. Did not even take a month! I haven't told the wife about my project so the true indicator that the job is done will be when she one day tells me "woa what's with your sexy manly jaw all of a sudden!?" Thanks all and thanks WIL for your awesome and life changing videos !

But why does resting your tongue on the top of your mouth result in a more defined chin? Isn't that just going to push the upper face out more thereby making the lower chin seem more receeded?

@@TheDragon4775 Hi! Still going at it. My tongue got used to sitting at the top of the mouth. It now feels weird to have it sit any other way which is cool. I'm lucky because when I wake up at night, I realize my tongue is still in its place so that's a 8-9h win right there! I try to sneak in a tongue workout here and there and I've been pretty consistent at it while on my daily commute to work. So far nothing noticeable of course as far as facial features. I do feel however that my nose is so much less blocked which is amazing for me! Feel free to ask for future updates!

But after a week of trying, this habit became second nature. now after two years I can confirm it does work. My jawline became quite visible, my cheekbones have started to show(I would love it if it showed a little more) and I completely lost my double chin.

My son was born with several medical conditions. Among them was retrognathia of the lower jaw. He was treated since toddlerhood at a hospital university clinic for crowded teeth. Over the years, their plan of action consisted of pulling several teeth in preparation of bracing. I continually asked if pulling all these teeth would change his facial profile for the worse. I additionally asked if his lower jaw would get smaller. They said he needed to have them pulled. 2 of the teeth that they pulled were canines that had drifted to the front of his chin. Those teeth could’ve been saved by gradually training them while he was young back to where they should’ve grown in….. When my son was 20, they wanted to pull 4 more teeth….. My son had severe sleep apnea and nobody was concerned, so I went a different route. I called a dentist/orthodontist that specialized in treating patients with airway blockages that cause sleep apnea. He started treatment by giving my son a 3D cone scan. After fighting with the dental clinic to change their care plan, they refused to treat him anymore. I was free to see this specialized dentist/orthodontist, who spent nearly 4 years reopening spaces where implants could be installed. During this time, he also went to an ENT for myofacial therapy to help his mild Cerebral Palsy. Fast forward….My son’s upper and lower jaw was expanded, giving him more space for his tongue to properly place. He wears retainers now to keep those spaces open. He does not have sleep apnea anymore and his facial profile is corrected. Tongue placement is important…. So is having a jaw large enough for the tongue to rest and the jaw itself to trained forward.

I saw a vid when I was around 14, more like an extert of a series of interviews about plastic cirurgies, and they talked about the case in the begining, of one needing to breathe with one's mouth, and that to fight tis there was a right position to keep the jaw in line, with the top of your bottom teeth touching straight behind the upper teeth, talking of how that was also a technique to teach models how to have a better face on their pictures, and from that moment I became paranoid, but I've got a better face now than 10 years later than I'd have if I never knew this information

Im fairly happy with my jawline etc, and I noticed that my mouth is almost always closed because i mainly use my nose to breath. Teeth and jaw are almost always softly pressed together, depending on my mood. My tongue, for as long as I can remember, has always rested in the top of my mouth. Most of my family members that don't share this habit, do not have the same looks when it comes down to facial structure. I do however experience headaches after long periods of applying force with my jaws and tongue. As a kid I always had a very round and fluffy face, but I don't really think that acts like proof. Can still recommend this to anybody. I never did this to actively change my face structure because it was just a habit that people around me always told me, breathe through your nose, close your mouth etc etc. I can't say that my genetics didn't play a part in this, but I'd like to believe that it's mainly genetics and this habit. Edit: Been think about this a lot lately and noticed that because of corona slacking and moving out of my parents house, I stopped paying as much attention to the things above and I noticed my face getting rounder and less masculine. Might be because of the bulking.. But I'm picking this habit up again. Funny how this video came around when I needed it.
@KasaChaineSecrete4 жыл бұрын
Ok guys, so I started putting my tongue up for when this video came out one and a half year ago and honnestly, I did got some results ! Sure it's not a big difference but my cheeks became a little wider and little bumps appeared on the side of my skull just under my eyes. Now I put my tongue up without even noticing it and I also catch myself doing it during sleep, it became natural. I was 19 back then and I turned 21 last week, I used to have a thin face with a pointy chin but now you can say it's more squarish than anything else. I'll keep doing this and do another report in 1 or 2 years if I'm.still alive. Don't lose hope, we all gonna glow up for sure ! 👋 (Sorry for my english, I'm French)

The latter you star doing it the more it will take for the changes to show up, as the facial bone structure gets harder and harder. But it still changes. Before 20 years changes are noticeable from 6 months to a year. From 20 to 25, in 2 to 5 years. And from 25 upwards it think it was 5 to 10 years. So tge sooner you start, the better

@jmass42075 жыл бұрын
It’s not supposed to be a hard press. You create a bit of a vacuum without applying pressure. Making sure the back of the tongue is raised is important, which will probably require more of a contraction to achieve than the front of the tongue.

Most of his points are anecdotal and circumstantial. The last point about the monkeys is misleading as well, as he is presenting as though the change happen from them not exerting force to their mouth roof, but really it's much much more likely their dental health changes due to mouth saliva drying out, which among other things protect the teeth and assist in mouth function.

Interesting theory how the texture of food can affect teeth. When I was little I would chew on bones and even eat them💀 I’m not a picky eater and I have straight teeth (no ingrown ones or even crooked, heck even my wisdom teeth grew fine). This, compared to my older sister who doesn’t eat some foods and doesn’t chew on bones (lol) her teeth are crowded. My tongue posture is resting on the bottom, however in the past year I’ve discovered mewing and try to make it habitual. I don’t suffer from blocked noses often so my jawline is pretty aight, I just need to loose body fat ☠️

highly reccomend fasting for losing fat, CICO is ofc valid; just less effective and more loose skin to do a cutting phase, i reckon you build less muscle too. 112-120ish kg down to 88kg (188cm, muscular), id fast for a week and then weightlift and walk or run for a week eating properly. no noticeable loose skin highly reccomend doing this, i dont fast anymore, i did this on off weekly fasting thing from april to july, got down to 85kg and been eating at maintenance/slightly above calorie wise ever since.

Perhaps it’s less genetics and more because we lived in an unhealthy place the past seven years (up until 4 months ago) and both got terrible sleep and became mouth breathers!

@matthewbadger86855 жыл бұрын
Don't worry about pain or tiredness bro, the tongue is the one muscle that never gets damage via continuous pressure since it needs to push strongly 24/7. If you feel pain/tiredness in your tongue feel free to ignore that feeling since it's designed to do so regardless. The biggest thing holding people back from attractive features is fear of that uncomfortable muscle feeling, but it's actually something that should be there when learning this. After just two weeks worth of 24/7 extreme tongue pressure, the extent of it has begun to lessen and so the act of straining against my palate has become my neutral state. In fact my mouth feels pleasant whenever i push hard with my tongue now. I urge you to try your best and push as hard as you can possibly can, at least for a month before writing this off.

@Kuba Marcin Honestly, the best thing I've found is taping my mouth shut at night (so long as my nose isn't blocked and I'm able to breathe though there safely). With my lips taped shut my tongue figures out that it should be on the roof of my mouth instead. I also found that this helps me remember to keep my mouth shut while I'm sitting at my computer desk for example.

I read about this stuff back in 2012, the mouth breathing part, I was 16 or 17 and thought it was too late for me but still tried it anyways, closed my mouth and fixed my tongue resting posture. This year with the 10 year challenge and all that I noticed how greatly my face has changed, my eyes straightened, my chin is not as recessed, my nose is noticeably less droppy. This video made me realise how fortunate it was to fix a few things some years back.

Guys, there's a quick fix. You start breathing with your nose only and never breathe with your mouth. You'll realize that your tongue automatically rests on the soft palate. Also, breathing with your nose ensures that the air going into your lungs is filtered, so in turn better quality oxygen runs in your blood and you feel more energetic.
@Vigilante800853 жыл бұрын
Nah I can’t breathe like physically can’t when I rest it on my soft platelet, and plus my toung naturally goes directly behind my upper teeth.

Now I’ve come up with a question that’s got me thinking: how do languages affect this? Do certain languages give you a more attractive jawline? What about the inverse? Are there languages that deter your facial structure because of you have to use your tongue and jaw to speak words in that language? Very interesting food for thought.
