@@oneofmany1087 I still drive a 2004 Buick Park Avenue Ultra with the L67 Buick 231 CID 3800 Supercharged V-6 with only 153k miles brought with 134900 miles 4 years ago for 3500.00 and its solid and parts are cheap and I also have a 1995 Plymouth Acclaim with 12,580 actual miles had it for two years and its solid no rust and cheap to maintain and I paid 250.00 for it two years ago with only 9,250 miles. My two cars I can get all parts for 1 is 21 and the other is 30 years old and I can still get plenty of parts for. I have a friend with a 2016 Mustang and he has a hard time getting parts. This makes no since I can get almost every thing for a 30 year old Plymouth Acclaim and a 21 year old Park Avenue. I dont get that. i would figure a 30b year old car would be harder to find parts for than a 9 year old car.

@@oneofmany1087 I own 2 Checy Aveo T255 models, they are from 2009 and their initial price was around 10K euro . Both 1.2 4cylinder NA engines with manual transmission. 1 is rocking 60K miles, the other one is above 100K miles, so far apart the wear and tear items they are running alright. But these cars were made to be a budget cars, so not a lot of things can go wrong in them and simplicity was a design choice. Transmissing is classic , swing arm is classic, no overengineered german suspension feeling with 5 extra joints to replace :D Engine bay quite big there is space for access to many things, I repair and maintain 2 cars and 2 motorbikes. But in general after 2000 it was getting more stupidly complex and expensive to repair cars....

Prices will continue to increase, so the situation will even get worse. People will keep their car a lot longer, putting the car companies in an even much more difficult situation. Well there was a shortage as factory workers got sick and China shut down so dealers raised prices to make up for the reduction in volume to stay afloat. Yes some dealers took advantage I am sure but a lot if not most just did what they had to stay alive. Now they are cutting prices as inventory rises back to normal but its a slow process. At leas tthe total cars sold finally went over 16 million which is pretty good - it was 17m before COVID but now many people are working from home so makes sense there is some reduced car buying - no need for a new car if its just for errands plenty of used cars out there.

You're entirely incorrect. Property values are ridiculously high in the the United States. That's great for banks, but it also becomes part of your cost of doing business. In other words, the property, plant and equipment costs become part of your pricing structure in addition to having to pay the higher wages of American workers. This is a structural cost disadvantage. We engage in labor arbitrage from overseas in order to make our cars more affordable, but we're fighting an uphill battle. Instead we build factories overseas to save money.

Americans are the most expensive workers in the world - almost on the same level as small countries of only rich people like Monaco and Lichtenstein so what do you do? You import. The good thing about importing is that it sucks inflation out of the country, every time you pay for something made in another country, that money goes out of the USA so money is always getting sucked out and inflation naturally will slowly fall as money is removed from the system. Pretty amazing that the USA can have #1 growth in the world and falling inflation due to large imports. But Trump might destroy that, we'll see, he might just be bluffing.

In retirement, safeguarding your wealth against inflation is essential. Consider options like TIPS (Treasury Inflation-Protected Securities), commodities, or foreign currencies to hedge against a weakening dollar. @@LearnAboutFlow do you know what a bail out is? The US taxpayer fits the bill for the company to stay in business. You pay regardless. You cannot raise prices when the consumer cannot afford it. @@ST-rj8iu Little confused. President Musk is the richest person in the world because his company survived 17.5 years on taxpayer money and now is barely in the black because of taxpayer money. The Obama bailout of GM, while profitable for the taxpayer, was ultimately dumb since he kept all the executives in place, including the horrific Mary Barra.

@@ST-rj8iu The past four years have shown people will pay anything for vehicles. The AVERAGE price of the bestselling F-150 is nearly $50K, which again shows consumers will pay anything. And why are consumers flocking to MORE expensive SUVs in lieu of relatively cheaper, if not cheaper to maintain, regular cars. I always laugh when someone tells me, "why can't they build a basic car at an affordable price?" Um, well, it's because consumers do NOT want that. Try building a manual transmission sedan with roll down windows and no air conditioning. Even if you sold it for $8000 no one would buy it.

The problem is that customers demand a MILLION things they want to drive fast, high MPG, power, and that just kills reliability. The more HP you pull out an engine, the smaller it is for the car size you are going to wear it out, just basic engineering. An SUV with a big V8 that produces weak power like an old 1980s Mercedes SL V8 that thing is slow as a Honda Civic but it will hit 1 million miles like it's nothing. Just got no freaking power but people today they want power, they want 500000mpg and 1000 HP so you get unreliable engineers pushed to the limit.

The auto manufacturers were greedy and failed to innovate. They also failed to cut production costs. So they were too expensive for their customers. Covid and inflation wiped out their customers and they failed to adapt. Demand is there but not at the prices the big manufacturers want to sell at. It’s not just a US problem. Japanese automakers are in as much trouble. Nissan has less than 12 months cash. Tariffs on Chinese cars will not save the big three. Or European or Japanese automakers. Only luxury niche vehicles have a chance of survival. Even in China western brands are seen as outdated and uninspiring. So it’s not the economy as China is booming and they are still not selling in China. Legacy brands will be gone within a decade. It will be expensive luxury brands and Chinese brands. Other Asian brands could suffer but will survive.

Well they can't sell it here I mean they're right you can't go on just selling to the same market especially when those markets are heavily dependent on finance see that's actually the huge problem we have in North America... The automaker is well as the dealership looks at the financial situation is something that they can gain which they have done because if most car buyers are reliant on finance due to the price being high Well then they can pad the bill even more because if the financier decides to grant this person alone they cut a big check instantly to the dealership so if there's wiggle room of $10,000 why would you charge somebody $30,000 for a car when you can screw the system the customer basically and charge another $10,000 knowing that the financier will finance it and thus the sale price is now 40 grand?? basically everybody in this existing market is broke so no you can't go on selling more and more garbage every year... but this is exactly why most of our automakers have already decided they don't need us and have the majority of their sales outside the United States looking forward motor company for example I mean back in what was it 14 they discontinued the Ford focus which was the number one selling sedan simply because most of their competitors didn't even offer a sedan at the time in fact no one does today but they decided to pull it out of here yet you could go everywhere else in the world and buy one oh and by the way they're willing to sell it to those folks and other countries for like 50% cheaper than they are here in North America That's why the discontinued it it was supposed to be the budget friendly car but the way in which they want to game the system it all the sudden wasn't a budget friendly car meaning no one was buying them because if you're going to spend that kind of money why wouldn't you just go get something else?

Toyota is $190B USD in debt (worse than VW & Nissan's) and facing multiple catastrophic engine recalls, devastating mechnical defects (transmissions, suspensions, etc.) and inferior quality/engineering issues. It's nothing but a downward spiral from here for the soon-to-be global has-been.

Toyota, Honda and Japan as a whole have failed miserably for not adopting Nissan & Carlos Ghosn's lead in BEVs well over a decade ago. Today, China has surpassed Japan in every BEV metric. Too little, too late. Arrogance has its pitfalls.

It goes with everything in this world, business stand point! Every business will have loyal customers that keeps coming back. Regardless of what you sell. Supply and Demand! Once you start to go cheap on your loyal customers, they will leave, 100% I guarantee it! Especially when you cheap out on QUALITY! (material or design, both) I understand Inflation hit your pocket hard! If you just keep the Quality up, before PROFIT! You will make it out of the depression hole. Your business will see another day! Most businesses thinks inflation goes up, my price goes up! Profit is not the key, loyal customers are the key, they keep coming back! I understand it is hard on a business with inflation. It sometimes better to have a floating business with open doors, than a price gouging business that is about to go bankrupt, because you scared all your customers away with cheap quality and high prices! MADE IN THE USA!

The chickens are finally coming home to roost at Toyota. 🐔 🐔 🐔 🐔 Declining quality, severe recalls, catastrophically defective turbo V6 and Corolla GR engines, failing transmissions, poorly-engineered BEVs and a recent scandal involving falsification of safety certification data. I'm not sure Toyota's lawyers or its prodigious global advertising budget can save it from the downward spiral this time.

American car makers lost their luster never wanted to make cars affordable for the blue color workers all they want to do is to push high price suv and trucks and charged high premiums. Avg american can afford these cars that cost well over 60ks and the fact that they're not reliable. Just read in the wall st .journal Ford ceo didn't want to give up his Chinese made electric car he was test.driving..almost 90 percent of Ford made vehicles are on a recall list. I long ago gave up on American made car having to take them back to the dealers and get jackaround and losing time going back and forth . I'll stick with my toyota hybrid avalon haven't had a recall on it since i bought only oil and tire rotation Have better things to do than hash out a warranty issue with American car dealers.

A great example of this auto market "BULL SHIT" is VW 1.9 L diese engine....in that case there was nothing wrong with its power line, it was good !!! but some one had to step up, start to affiliate works and workouts this other corporations and firms like Fiat and Renaud and even Nissan and Tata...and some haw they proclaimed that reworked 2.0 L railed diesel with extra particle eliminator was better...? on that "better" engine a more than Billion Dollars was spent in NO TIME, every one wonted a little slice of the pie $, in fact from the client reports over the years that 2.0L diesel replaced the "old" 1.9L the clear voice of clients is that 1.9 L diesel was in fact way better that the replacement....so Billions of $$$$ got wasted. Now if Automobile corporations have Billions to take out of the banks and make worst product than we got on the market at the time, then why are they complaining? it looks like they have money to burn....and they still burning it.

We don't want electric cars or all the computer tracking crap in them or any computers. Just want a car not the extremely expensive crap in them. Build a old steel car without computer electric windows, chips, sensors that break within 3 years. Go back to old school. Cars don't need to go over 100 mph. No where is it even allowed to go that fast. Waste
