I think ToF is a jack of all trades (master of none) so there is something for everyone: mmo fans, gacha fans, anime fans, sci fi fans, eastern fantasy fans, casual players, meta players, cultured players, waifu collectors, oc creators. Features other players only dream of for their game, most likely it's in ToF. This is what probably makes ToF survive. Personally, I like the surprise features and areas they come up with even if it looks like "all over the place" for others

Tof has alot of things in it that i wish other big gatchas had. Like the weapon creativity is insane, not to mention i can use any character with any weapon witch is a godsend. Not only that cosmetics u can farm not just pull farming here. Open world even after 100% exploring still has a purpose with events, boss farms, weekly and such. And the character designs i like cuz they dont shy away from sexy character designs. Like other gatchas have very tame designs witch gets old and boring. I like that tof gives u options in terms of characters. Dont like overly lewed character u got options, want lewed characters go for it.

the thing is MMO itself isn't really a big thing especially in mobile. The genre itself sounds overwhelming for most gamers and newcomers. ToF back then was undoubtedly riding on Genshin popularity and a lot of Genshin players are casual. You could imagine them transitioning from mostly single player game to an MMO, it wouldn't stick. However, Considering there are a lot of bad "auto" MMORPG's in mobile, ToF is actually one of the better MMO game.

It's hard being an mmo fan because of how subjective the genre is and how hard the genre of game is to run. I can only be happy to others who still get to play a type of mmo that they like.

I started playing this year and it was my no-pressure, just chill and have fun game. Love the open world, it's beautiful, full of variety and colors, the exploration feels very freeing and fun. The community is very nice and welcoming. I know powercreep is a big issue but only if you care about leaderboards, if I'm not mistaken. I had no trouble getting through the basic game content with the random weapons I got. Not to mention how much fun it is to be able to put any weapon on any character/simulacra. If I was bored with one character's appearance I could just switch simulacra without affecting my team comp, at all. Such a refreshing change from other similar games. TL;DR ToF has a lot to offer, if people can just get over their snobbery and prejudices and just enjoy it for what it is ;) Not everything needs to have ground breaking graphics to be extremely enjoyable, and if you give ToF a chance you'll find out that its strengths are where it's unique from other games.

I remember farming the mecha-unicorn mount back in the day, it was like the most rare item u could ever get in the game...i got the parts after 10 hours of farming and it felt like winning the lottery, i even ran around with it a couple of times just to show off to the 10000 people that were there farming it xD

The good thing about ToF is it respects your time. If you can't play due to work, you can use all your vitality ("resins") in just one click. If you have so much time, you can play a number of end game content, or simply just play bowling, fishing, arcades, racing, customize your character, pet battles, dance moves, mahjong, volleyball, cycling, sculpting etc. I also feel absolute freedom due the mounts, no stamina climbing, and other QoL such as auto exploration and reward recovery

@hehuho890 what do you mean? Climbing and gliding in ToF doesn't consume stamina (but your jetpack should be advanced at a certain level). A number of weapons can also be used for travel, and plunging attacks are usually diagonal, so it can help cover distance

The cooldown is every two days, and you can send up to 12 characters to explore, making it a great way to boost progress. 3. Since this is a social game, there are endgame activities that require co-op. I’ve been able to solo dailies like Joint Operations, exploration, and boss hunting since I’m high level, but you can’t solo the Void Abyss, Raid, or Origin of War. These co-op events aren’t mandatory, but the rewards are definitely worth it. 4. Fashion! Honestly, it’s one of the true endgames here. I jokingly call this game "Fashion of Fantasy" for a reason. There are a lot of free accessories and skins, but some of the paid ones are really worth it. Plus, you could theoretically get gacha skins for free if you save enough or have incredible luck. 5. The sense of freedom in this game is unmatched when exploring the map with my relics and mounts. No other gacha game captures this. As someone who spent 2200+hrs in the game since the PS launch, the vid is accurate. Very nice to play but not as your main game but as one you keep coming back to. It's time consuming, sure, but if you just keep coming back to it regularly you can build your character up. It can really get boring if you play it as your main game. The main reason I was able to thrive and build my character properly was because I learned from the mistakes of the PC/mobile players so when the PS version came out, I was able to do things better within a shorter time. Love the honesty of the vid, balancing the good and the bad. 👌👍

Correction on dailies. If I remember correctly they are weeklies. You can either finish them in two to three days and not long in the rest of the week or do a few things in a day and finish them in five days or so. I personally want to give it a try again but I have a few games that does some of the features better except for customisation and traversal because honestly, TOF has everything

Playing since day 1. I really love that game! 2:21 We stopped using the matchmaking system for events, JO, abyss, etc., because chat is much faster than creating a group for everything. Matchmaking system only works when someone is pairing, while the chat is visible to everyone.

6:17 is pretty misinforming. That's Void Abyss and only stage 1. It ramps up over the month to get buffs that need to be focused on and certain buff combos can give you exhilarating damage/tanking/healing. In other words, it isn't the real stats of the character that can be used elsewhere. To sort of translate to Genshin, it's like stacking bond of life on purpose on Arlecchino to create a damage per screenshot to ego stroke. Void Abyss buffs were purposefully made to close the gap between whale and f2p, and allow f2p to still do crazy damage/tanking/healing with the right choices. Edit: Actually the Void Abyss buffs are a lot more similar to Spiral Abyss buff cards but jacked to hell and back on steroids. Basically the buffs are actually good & interesting lol. To all the Genshin players who wished more modes were permanent, myself included, Void Abyss is one of those and actually plays differently enough from the base game. Origin of War is another and you can even still do "elemental reactions" with weird ways like physical+fire if you have the buff. Team members can apply the element for you instead so you can "react" with it as well.

ahhhh the memories are flooding in. I remember being one of the top dps players in my guild, i was a low spender but my dmg was quite high for a low spender since i got lucky rngs with the gear rolls. We usually do raids, and if we’re bored we just help others out or hang out and just chat. It was really fun. Unfortunately people started playing less and less and i also eventually stopped. The FOMO was too strong for me too, it got to me, and i decided it was healthier to quit. Really fun game though

Like one of the reasons I kept playing it was because of the massive multiplayer, it was fun playing with a lot of my friends at the same time. But the other aspects aren't as enjoyable, the number of players were dropping very quickly, there were so many servers that spread thin the playerbase, on top of that, there's so many channels on every server. Just seeing other people do their own thing is a huge immersive experience itself even if you don't interact with them.

Defs a lot of power creep. Nola weapon is pretty broken, does a lot of damage atm. It has the ability to assume pretty much any element in the game and it gives you a fast sprint mount which is generally faster than the mounts. Combined with the ice lance ability to charge throw plus HP shield makes it a really good combo for taking down bosses quickly. Edit, the name of the lance is Wicked, its Yanos weapon.

​@@luckysgi-5karrow378 Which is why as a FTP I have been saving to get her to 6 star, got her to 4 star already, got pretty lucky with my pulls. Its the only way I find to keep up with the power creep. no way to keep up with those that spend it like a 10 * gap in damage and I have been playing since the servers went live, you can tell by my UUID. I can do like 200 ish million damage in the same time they dish out 4 billion ish. I know for one of the game mode Void Abyss the buffs make a big difference, there is a mechanic to get higher level buffs which is you get 3 copies in your inventory to get the next level up, it auto combines to its next level, a high risk high reward. day 1 Tower of Fantasy player (left May 2024), sad to see that it didn't see the light of day... despite the powercreep (many limited characters moved into standard except some) as well as low gacha rates (especially the costumes like NIKKE)... it didn't leave a bad taste, had a blast working with my crew/guild, sharing guides and playing events together... but yeah, it's more co-op than single player cause nothing much to do when solo... they deliver some mechanics like mounts and flying (weapons or gadgets, granted that some are p2p but moved into standard eventually) story is all over the place, just relieved that the skip button existed before wuwa came (some characters don't appear or cameo only) and no marketing presence (not even merchandise, events/cosplay and yeah, R34) If it wasn't for ToF, Wuwa would ran and catch up to Benshin as it's true competition... it's efforts will never be forgotten and hope that their next project, NTE, will bring urban open-world soon (expecting project mugen but netease leave me doubts) P.S. if you dared to play ToF this year, always go for Altered as they're only the limited characters (they often have reruns) so yeah, godspeed

The story of ToF is good. I won't spoil it here but heirs of aida, aliens in vera, domain 9, shirli and Gesthos (latest futuristic city) are all connected. Everything that happened is related to when Shirli was made a cyborg by Heirs of Aida. There may even be a plot twist in the aberrants

Been playing since day 1 and am a top 100 player. It's a 7/10 in my opinion. Pretty solid overall if you enjoy having something to play with a few friends. Might be less fun if you have no friends / are bad at making them. I really enjoy being able to play Asuka from Evangelion since I am an anime fan.

One of the gacha games I dropped due to the power creep. It was nice when I could set my own difficulty, but the bosses having a certain difficulty requirement kinda ruined it. Did this get better? Is it possible to play more casual? I probably could have optimized the equipment, but that was simply boring and time consuming. I leveled it up and raised the "star level". But I didn't do much more than that. I might pick it up again for exploration though, the new areas look kinda nice.

The truth about ToF was that it did not try to be Genshin even when it was labeled "Genshin Impact killer" when it's overall UI, currency etc is totally diff vs say Wuthering Waves which had intentionally copied so much of Genshin and Hoyos format in the "attempt" to grab a piece of that luscious gacha pie. Sigh, if only they fixed the entire experience of ToF a lot wouldn't have dropped the game then..

It has everything that I could asked for in a gacha game. Great design (people might disagree but I really think ToF character design is better than HSR, GI or WuWa, or maybe im biased cuz ToF has more Sci-Fi design and free customization, except the enemies, WuWa hands down has the best enemy/mob's design), beautiful world, many activities, nice end game, fun mechanic, great event, nice song (Meant to be, Vera song, and Fenrir's song are all still in my playlist long even after i stopped playing the game) I would ve still played it if it wasnt for the powercrept (which is so bad, if I had to compared it to other gacha, new characters would be much powerful, Altho when I tried to login again, I can still solo WB just fine with my Annabelle) also time consuming, and all friends offline. now HSR was just the only game I played since I can just blitz everything in one day. and I can just chat with my friends about the lore or our progress. The older I get, the more I prefer to sleep than playing game. Man, time is cruel.

To be honest, I never do my dailies anymore since they dont give dark crystals. If you have logged in and chosen your dailies but don't do them, you can even claim the missed daily rewards on the next day, so you aren't even missing out on much. I only play story and events, occasionally weekly raid or any other of the cycling pve content (origins of war, void abyss ect) and any other day, I log in, accept dailies, eat mia canteen, sweep stamina, log out, it's like 2 minutes max

I'm fine with most, and I adore the fighting mechanic, even more than G game or WuWa, the double jump, air dash and momentary animation cancel mid attack is just beautiful. I just can't handle one thing and that's the powercreep. Like dude, I pulled for Annabella, and not just C0 or E0 or whatever dupes it is. I got E Freakin 6, E6! AND her signature, both 4 piece of that random chip fcking thing. Her performance was fantastic, but there's a bug with her buff from her weapon, he crit dmg and the buffs from the chip or weapon doesn't work (idk I forgot which one, it was a long time ago) I report it and still no change were made, THEN THE FIRE UMBRELLA GIRL CAME, Lan or something. Yeah it's crazy. I quit Genshin for a while as soon as ToF came up and realized even day 1 it has stuff Genshin didn't. And today it still has stuff Genshin does not. Genshin 5.2 live stream just happened and yet there are still no loadouts while ToF has had them + 3 updates to it. It's insanity. TOF on start felt like more like MMO, but with a lot of cash grab in mind. Game had a chance to get it's own niche, but devs are straight-up braindead and it eventually lost all the players. Most of the issues went from CN to Global and, in fact, global launch was a complete disaster. MC customisation were configured behind unsecured text file, straight-up trash weapon balance with horrendous multipliers that made game purely P2W, cheaters fking things up (PvP, getting gacha for free and etc. Funniest thing is that you could do it with Cheat Engine, that is detected by any anticheat lol), banners that went down before their official ending date, releasing skins behind gacha paywall and etc. If you want to play casually - you can try it out, but WuWa will be a much better option. It also had it's own major flaws, but seems like dev team kinda figured it out. Also, 2025 looks promising for gacha gaming, so stay tuned...
